Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. I was taking 40 mg of OxyContin for a rare bone syndrome. I have chronic back, leg, and joint pain. I starter taking percocet but I find to get the pain managed I have to take up to at least 5 pills at once of the percocets to match that of the OxyContin. Is this okay and does that make since? Especially since I am taking up to 15 a day? should I just ask to be switched back to OxyContin? ## I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. Yes, you should definitely look into switching off of the Percocet. It contains both Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and you are exceeding the daily maximum dosage of Acetaminophen, which is just 3,000mgs. Each Percocet tablet contains 325mgs of it, so you should not be taking more than 9 of them a day, at most. Taking more than that risks fatal toxicity....

I have been taking 2 7.5 percent every 4 he's a 1 oxy 15 mg for over a year now and its gotten to where its only taking the edge off for maybe an hour. I have crohns disease with multiple surgeries I have tried the fentanly patch and they made me sick I need some suggestions on what I need to ask my doc for next? The max does of Oxycodone in it is 10mgs. That said, a pill marked 20 and G5 contains 20mgs of Pravastatin, a generic for Pravachol, this is used to help lower cholesterol. I take 160mill of oxycotin 2 times a day and roxi 30 mill every 3 hours for breakthrough pain. What is the difference in the meds? I believe the tablet you are looking at has the marking M 595 and this is an old, discontinued 40mg time released Oxycodone tablet, a generic for Oxycontin. Due to the risks of abuse and diversion, the generics are no longer being manufactured. It is not a Percocet equivalent, because it is time released and doesn't contain Acetaminophen. Hi..I am currently taking OxyContin 20mg 3xdaily, Percocet, Zanaflex, Neurontin & Trazodone for the chronic pain that I've been suffering for for over 13 years of a debilitating illness called: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Well once again I've been duped because Walmart wants to buy the cheapest non-effective brands possible for people who actually have pain. These RP brand generic percocets are absolutely useless but as long as the maker and the distributor are making money that's all that matters...... I was nearly killed in an auto accident in '92. I developed severe fibromyalgia among other problems due to brain damage and temporary coma and paralysis. For years Drs. Told me my pain was all in my head. It wasn't recognized as legitimate until '97.
