I am on a road trip with my kids and husband I was just found out I have rheumatoid arthritus and am hurting bad i am taking 2 5/325 percocet every 6 hours I am having a real bad flare and am very swollen they ware off after 4-5 hours can I take them sooner then every 6 hours Im not driving or anything I am just sitting for a long time and it hurts worse when I get up dont wanna miss out on the fun ## I have rheumatoid as well. I am taking the percocet 512 white tablets 5mg/325 for severe back pain due to degenerating disc(s). I have been told 1 pill every 8 hours, but find the pain so excruciating after about 5 hours that I cannot even stand... even to use the bathroom or shower. My MD cannot get me into a specialist until August, but I am having real stress here. I was prescribed 5/325 mg tablets and told to take 1-2 for pain from kidney stone surgery. I did NOT have it filled because I still had some at home. I took one about 90 minutes ago and realized that they are 10/325. Is it ok to take another one or would that be dangerous. I know nothing about pain meds. ## It would depend on your tolerance and if you're taking any other medications. For someone not used to taking opiates 20mg of Oxycodone is quite a bit. However, it's not enough, in my opinion, to worry about overdose. You'll likely just get very sleepy. If you just took a 10/325 why do you feel the need to take another so soon? Nov. of 2016 I moved from Pa. to Tenn. out of family need. I am 60 yrs. old and had numerous lower back and cervical surgeries. In Pa. I received 180 percocet 10/325 per month. My pain spec. here in Tenn. will only prescribe 120 per. month saying by Tenn. law this is the max amount allowed per month. Can anyone tell me if this is fact? I am taking oxycodo-APAP 10-325 ,a generic for Percocet. It is an oval shape withM523 on one side and 10/325 on the other. My Dr. said I could split the pill if it is too strong. But there is no score line. Can or should this pill be spit to receive half the dosage? ## The best advice I can give is to listen to what your doctor said. From personal experience when there was no score line on a pill I would still cut in half if it was too strong and simply take half the dose. I don't think you should worry if your doctor gave you the ok to do so. After splitting the pill in half, just be sure to follow your doctors orders on when to take the pill every so many hours.

Does percocet come in 20mg? ## I'm assuming you're referring to the amount of the narcotic in it, the Oxycodone? If so, then NO, it does not. Percocet, which contains the Oxycodone, coupled with Acetaminophen, is only available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs Oxycodone and 650mgs of Acetaminophen. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness. Is there a medication called percocet 5125. If so, what is it, what does it look like what mg is it? ## No, the medication name would just be Percocet, it contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, so it's a narcotic pain reliever. Sometimes numbers do follow the name to designate the dosage, but there is no Percocet on the market with 5mgs of Oxycodone and 125mgs of Acetaminophen. However, there is on that contains 5mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. It is made by several different manufacturers, so the markings on them will vary, depending on who made it. I was taking 40 mg of OxyContin for a rare bone syndrome. I have chronic back, leg, and joint pain. I starter taking percocet but I find to get the pain managed I have to take up to at least 5 pills at once of the percocets to match that of the OxyContin. Is this okay and does that make since? Especially since I am taking up to 15 a day? should I just ask to be switched back to OxyContin? ## I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. Yes, you should definitely look into switching off of the Percocet. It contains both Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and you are exceeding the daily maximum dosage of Acetaminophen, which is just 3,000mgs. Each Percocet tablet contains 325mgs of it, so you should not be taking more than 9 of them a day, at most. Taking more than that risks fatal toxicity....

Want to know what a 1000 mg percocets l ook like ## They don't make one like that. ## @boo bear, BL is right, you're not going to find any Percocets with that type of dosage. It is only available in the following dosage forms: 2.5/325, 5/325, 7.5/325, and 10/325 respectively. The amount of acetaminophen used to be 500mg and 600mg in the 7.5 and 10mg tablets, but due to recent reports regarding acetaminophen and increased liver toxicity, the amount as of Jan 2014 is now capped off at 325mgs. Could you possibly be thinking of another medication altogether?
