This is an antibiotic and it is important not to use them, when it isn't appropriate, because you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Second, this is even more of a danger, because this bottle of medication is outdate. I am away on vac. Three days ago I started feeling tired and when I did anything physical (stairs) I would get a fast heart rate. I started taking Ibuprofen for the head ache. I just finished taking penicillin vk 500mg and it was not working. I have some azithromycin 200mg. Is it ok to take this a day after stopping penicillin? ## Hi Ashley, I guess I can only speak for myself if I were in this type of predicament, but I would probably opt to take the azithromycin without worry if the penicillin wasn't working for me. I think that by waiting a day in between switching antibiotics, it should (in my opinion) be no different than continuing with the treatment regimen -of course, still following the prescribed dosing guidelines thereafter. However, I would also look into taking a probiotic immediately after finishing the course of antibiotics to help replenish good bacteria in the body.
