Listed below are the dosing & administration guidelines: Penicillin V potassium comes as a tablet or liquid to take by mouth. It is usually taken every 6 hours (four times a day) or every 8 hours (three times a day). Take penicillin V potassium at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. -Shake the liquid well before each use to mix the medication evenly. -The tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water. I am away on vac. Three days ago I started feeling tired and when I did anything physical (stairs) I would get a fast heart rate. I started taking Ibuprofen for the head ache. Today the third day I bought took out a bottle of penicillin VK 500 mg tablets I took with me. I am also alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen 6hrs. Took temp. today 39.5 , after talking acetaminophen it has got down 37.5. One he later I took one penicillin vk5 500 mg are tablet.
