Has anyone noticed that taking generic Paxil is not as effective as the real deal? I'm having a terrible time with recurring anxiety symptoms. ## While patients may experience slight differences between medications, the generic market is highly regulated in both the U.S. and Australia (where I live). The drug concentration is the same within the tablet, it will have the same absorption profile, same extent of absorption. Therefore in all likelyhood it should work exactly the same (within acceptable limits) as the original brand. The only changes present could be due to the inactive ingredients within the formulation which a patient may be sensitive or intolerant to. While this does not affect the effectiveness of the medication it may introduce side-effects.

What is this tablet prescribed for and what are the side effects? I have not started it yet and feel a little nervous. ## I have been taking Paxidep CR 25 for the last 7 years, but now I am getting side effects of this medicine. Always drowsiness and always in sleeping mood. I can't read news paper - whenever I am trying to to read within 10 second my eyes will be closed and I was in a sleeping position. ## @Vinu - Paxidep CR is prescribed for anxiety and depression, and contains the active ingredient Paroxetine. The manufacturer is Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd. [1] The American brand for this drug is Paxil. @Ajay, drowsiness is actually listed as one of the side effects of Paroxetine. I take both of these meds on a regular basis and have for over 3 years. I am moving to Pensacola Florida, I am worried about finding a Dr. Who will write these meds for me. I also take 100 mg of trazadone at bed time . It works great after about an hour and a half of being very irritable, restless and shaky. My Dr does not seem too concerned about this side effect. My question is does anyone know of a good Dr in Pensacola that would write these scripts considering my medical history. And does anyone relate to the side effects of trazadone. Thanks for any response.

I have tried many meds on paxil three weeks just went from 20 to 30 today no improvement in my OCD anxiety depression and PTSD has it worked for anyone if do how long did it take please help ## I have now been on paxil over four weeks three weeks At 20 and over one on thirty no improvement at all I Am terrified nothing will work did anyone have this happen ## Hi Theresa, Based on my research, it can take 4-6 weeks for Paxil to take effect. Keep in mind that medication effects everyone differently, so no matter what kind of experience someone else has (positive or negative) that cannot determine what effect it will have on you. If you don't notice a change after a couple weeks, you may need to consider trying a different medication or other methods of treatment. I actually took Paxil...

can chantix be taken if one is using paxil? ## I am not finding any interactions listed in the databases, however the best judge of their usage together would be your doctor and pharmacist. ## Hi Hannah, I'm on paxil and have been taking chantix for 1 1/2 weeks. I haven't noticed any problems so far.

Has anyone taken Paxlovid for Covid? I was prescribed this medication and could only take 2 of the 5 day prescription due to the awful side effects. Number one was the medication made me feel worse than I felt before taking it. Number two.... It literally felt and tasted like someone was continuously spraying hairspray down my throat for hours until the dose wore off. For me, the side effects were much too harsh and bothersome and unfortunately, couldn't complete the 5 day prescription. Has anyone else had any experience taking this medication? ## I was prescribed Paxlovid for Covid in August. Within 3 hours, I felt like a new woman! Seriously, the cough lessened up, the fatigue lessened up and I could breathe again. The milder symptoms did persist for about a month or so though. Th...

Are paxil and paxil hydrochloride the same thing? I've seen hydrochloride on a pill bottle, but I have never seen it on my prescription bottle before. ## Yes, they are the same, Paxil Hydrochloride is just the longer name for it, the Hydrochloride designates the precise chemical salt it was derived from during manufacturing. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. Some pharmacies list it on the labels, some don't. Is there anything else I can help with?

one side has a G other side P4 round white tab ## I have spent one miserable three weeks on the 20 mg generic paxil manufactured by Mylan. I have had to go back to the expensive PAXIL $123.00 a month until I can get myself squared away. I know I have been on a generic for the last rwo years but I do not know who the manufacturer was. They were white oval. Never examined them closly to see any numbers or letters on them. This is really frustrating and I feel violated to have been given something that was not going to treat my problem. My doctor said it is in the delivery system of generics and that the most trouble was seen in the SSRI's and other antidepresants. This is a sad comentary for our drug companies that they cannot make a better generic. It is called GREED. ## Yes, the tab...

The doctor prescribed Pax 1 3 times a day. i am 5 weeks pregnant. Is it really safe? ## Pax contains the active ingredient Diazepam and no, it is generally isn't recommended that it be used during pregnancy. In early pregnancy, it has been known to cause congenital malformations and in late pregnancy, the infant can be born with Benzodiazepine intoxication. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

I just started taking Paxil two days ago. As of this moment I feel sick and depressed. I started taking Paxil after two weeks of Effexor made my symptoms much worse. I feel like I'm hanging onto my sanity by a thread. All these brief ups and and never ending downs are just too much to deal with on a daily basis. Please Paxil work your magic!! ## Hello, Ed! How are you? Unfortunately, many antidepressants can cause a temporary worsening of symptoms for a few weeks, before things change and your symptoms start to improve. I take one for PMS/perimenopausal irritability and overtime we adjust the dosage, I just tend to expect it for about 3 weeks, before I see an improvement. The FDA lists Paxil as being an SSRI antidepressant and its typical side effects are listed as possibly includin...

Can Seroquel 50mg be taken together with pax 10 mg ## Yes, unfortunately these class of medications (anti-psychotics) do carry the side effect of weight gain. These meds actually slow down your metabolism causing weight gain. If you are using it for sleep which is what a lot of us are prescribing it for, so as to not get you hooked on sleeping pills. These meds side effect of sleepiness is why we use this even if you're not psychotic. Try breaking one in half with a knife and try using just half. Whatever you do if you are taking them every night you DO NOT stop taking this medication before speaking with your doctor first. Abrubt stopping of these meds could cause seizures and other problems you will have to be titraited from the drug if you so choose. It is a good drug for occasio...

Have been on Paxil 10mg for 5yrs and new (past year) Dr told me that even though I just had bloodwork, they cannot refill until I see Dr again. I have seen this Dr 5 times in past year for other things. I have 5 doses left but Dr can't see me for almost 30 days. I know I am not supposed to stop taking Paxil suddenly. Dr says it is a controlled substance, so I looked it up and that is a flat out lie. I am on Medi-cal past year due to acworkers comp injury, but surgeries are finished and I am only on my regular thyroid, high blood pressure meds and Paxil. Can Dr lie about Paxil and withold it, for 30 days knowing that it is a drug u shouldn't abruptly stop?
