My mother had taken sinemet for about 6 years, but her doctor had recently changed it for Rytary because sinemet was not helping her anymore. Since she is taking Rytary 36.25 mg/145 mg 4 times a day, she had felt better except for the dyskinesia she had for the past month. However, she started feeling muscle weakness 4 days ago. It looks like she is starting to have dystonia in her left hip and leg. Im not pretty sure if she has that but she shows symptoms of such. She starts to have that symptom after the third dose of Rytary like after 2:30pm. I dont know if she has that because of the med side effects or she is having that because its part of the disease progression. Im honestly concerned about it. Can anyone tell me if dystonia or muscle weakness is one of the Rytary's side effe...

I was told by a neurologist that Espiride can cause Parkinson's disease. Is this so? ## No, there is no way to definitively say that any medication can cause it. According to U.S. FDA and NIH reports, the exact causes are still unknown and research is ongoing. Some medications may aggravate the symptoms, but predominantly there is an underlying neurological issue that must be in place, in order for other environmental factors, such as lifestyle and medications, to cause it to erupt, or worsen. Most commonly, it is known to be diagnosed in people over 60 years old, but sometimes, it has shown up in people as young as 40. Is there anything else I can help with?

Parkinson's disease (also known as Parkinson disease, Parkinson's, idiopathic parkinsonism, primary parkinsonism, PD, hypokinetic rigid syndrome/HRS, or paralysis agitans) is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Early in the course of the disease, the most obvious symptoms are movement-related...

I read 'Parkinsons Disease treatment guide for physicians' by Dr. J. Eric Ahlskog. He discusses use of the following:Folic acid 2.5 mg(I would prefer L-methyfolate), B6 25 mg ,B12 1 or 2 mg. I have the MTHFR mutation: compound heterozygosity c.665C.>T?1268A>C. This defect may lead to early arteriosclerotic vascular disease or venous thrombosis and toxicity from medications affecting folate metabolism. I have a homocysteine level on the high side of normal(three times the low level). This doctor gives his patients this vitamin combo because levodopa can cause high elevation of homocysteine is associated with the above diseases. My husband was prescribed Oxybutynin over two weeks ago, after a week the dose was increased to two tablets a day. He has Parkinson's disease and takes Sinemet and Ropineral. Over the past few days, his Parkinson's which was controlled has now spiraled to the point where his mobility and tremors are badly affected. Could this be connected to the Oxybutynin? This condition worsens as the day progresses. ## Yes, the NCBI actually does report that is has been known to worsen cognitive function in those that have Parkinson's. This has also been noted in studies by other groups, such as SafeRX, and some government clinical trials. What dosage is he currently taking? Why was it prescribed and what other medications does he take?

is anyone taking this with early demensia due to Parkinson's Disease? ## Did you mean Aricept? The FDA classifies it as a cognitive enhancing medication that is used to treat dementia, and Alzheimer's. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and weight loss. Can anyone that's taking it chime in with their experience on it?

I have essential tremor and I have recently been prescribed chlorthalid. I would like to know if there is newer information on the side effects of chlorthalid and Parkinson disease? ## Hello, Danny! How are you? I've not found any warnings or contraindications for those taking it that have Parkinson's. However, as listed by the FDA, it may cause musculoskeletal weakness, as side effect, which may make the tremors seem worse. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. Have you also checked with your doctor to be sure?

I was the first person on earth to test Neotrofin against Parkinson's in 2002 at the Parkinson's & Movement Disorder Institute in Fountain Valley California. This drug worked wonders and I was hoping that the FDA would rush approval for it to be used against several brain diseases. I then learned that the manufacturer of Neotrofin went out of business and refused to turn over the rights to anybody. I thought that was such a tragedy to humanity. This drug had absolutely NO side effects. You could not tell you had any medicine in your body. It helped my Parkinson's symptoms for up to 4 months after i stopped taking it. This website is the first that I have found that looks like the drug is in use. I hope it's not an old site telling me that Neotrofin is not available. ...

I have bad kidneys, plus Parkinsons disease, plus have had both knee replaced. I took Amoxicilina 2000mg daily for two years straight. I never felt better, I lost 75 lbs. quite couldn't figure out whyI was losing all this weight all of a sudden then I decided it was time to go off the pills, within three months I gained 50 lbs and started feeling terrible. What is the catch? ## Amoxicillin is nothing more than an antibiotic and that is a very high dosage and a very long time to be taking it. Why were you on it for so long? It should also not cause weight loss, like that. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?
