I have lost my voice and have been told that my left vocal chord is not working. Is there any medical data on the reaction. ## Hi Michael....I was diagnosed with a paralyzed vocal cord last November. It took about 5 months to heal, after going into the hospital for a scope and two different physician's opinions. Do not despair. It will heal itself. Take care of your voice. Do not strain it and do not lose hope. ## Only a Dr. who orders tests could tell you what is causing it, whether it will heal and how long it may take.

I've been on Lunesta 3 mg for about a week now. The bad taste is Horrible (!), but twice now I've had what I think is sleep paralysis. I am awake, as I can see and hear things going on around me, but cannot move. I cannot move, cannot speak or scream for what feels like 10-15 minutes before finally being able to move. This has never happened before taking Lunesta, and after coming to myself I am in absolute panic because my limbs refuse to listen to my brain. The 2nd time I actually thought I might be dead. Is this a normal side effect? I haven't been able to find anything related? Can someone PLEASE tell me something??? ## Hello, Jess! How are you? Yes, most insomnia medications can cause things like that as side effects, although it seems like you're awake, you actuall...

Has anyone else experienced sleep paralysis accompanied by hallucinations since starting viibryd? I have been on the medicine for about 4 months now and for the last 2 1/2 months have had several very scary episodes of sleep paralysis... I have never been on a anti-depressant before and never experienced sleep paralysis until i started this medicine. I am a 23 year old female and i take no other meds except a daily multi-vitamin. Ive noticed that if i accidentally miss a viibryd pill i have sleep paralysis... but have also had it on occasions of not missing a pill. It occurs about once a week... its to the point where i dread going to sleep at night in fear of sleep paralysis, but the hallucinations that come along with it are what I dread the most. Has anyone else had a similar experie...

I have done a lot of research on this drug all over the internet for the last week because it's been the absolute worst week of my life. I started taking Viibryd 3 weeks ago for generalized anxiety disorder. I have previously been on effexor for 2 years, took 2 years off any medication, and then recently needed to start medication again. The first week, i had the typical side effects. Nausea, high energy, and insomnia. I knew that my body had to get used to it. By the 3rd night on the 20mg dosage, I was having 5-10 episodes of sleep paralysis with exploding head syndrome & hallucinations a NIGHT. I weened off for a few days, and now i'm completely off for 4 days and STILL having the episodes. I am scared to death to go to sleep at night because it is that terrifying. So, I a...

I took only 3 of my script. The first night it was like I was sleeping in cotton candy. Night, I was paralyzed physically but wide awake. My cat kept trying to close my eyes, but they'd pop right back open. It was snowing and I swear on all that is holy, I could "HEAR" each snowflake as they bumped one another and when they settled on my roof, FREAKY, couldn't move, glad I didn't have to go to bathroom!! Lasted 12 hrs. Night 3... NO SLEEP WHATSOEVER...This LASTED 105 hours, began getting sores in my mouth and nose, tongue swelled (not to uncomfortably.) Lips too, looked like J-LO in " Monster-In-Law" after she ate peanuts. I've had bad reactions before, didn't feel the need for EMS or anything. The ONLY good thing about this drug... The WEIGHT I'd...

After reading the post sleep paralysis w hallucinations I felt omgosh Iam not the only one, also scared to be on this med anymore. I have been on viibryd for four months now. After talking to my doc about how I have been feeling and feeling like "I just can't handle things at times" and crying while talking with her. She decided to put me on viibryd, with the starter pack. I am at 20 mg which I take at night. I have children to take care of and can't afford to b sleepy n the day. When I first started this med. I did not tell my husband because I wanted to see if he will notice a change in me. After being on it for three weeks ( which it took two days for me to see a difference) I told him. We both could see I was happier calmer. Handled things better and my libido was be...

I only missed my dose by a few hours. I lied down to go to bed and it was like I was tripping on hallucinogens. Everything I saw in this dream-like state was in a honeycomb type pattern and at one point I thought I was turning into a spider, at another I thought the covers were suffocating me and I was fighting to get them off and screaming for my husband to help me, but in reality I was just dreaming but could not wake up. When I finally did get up I called the pharmacist and told her what happened and asked if I could just stop taking the meds. She said it was dangerous to just stop and that I should talk to my doc about tapering down. I have never had an antidepressant do that to me before. It was really scary and I don't want to take a pill that will have this affect from one mi...

My wife got paralysis stroke on the left side of her face in May 2011 due to high BP. It was cured after hospital treatment. After one year she got post paralysis symptoms like her left eye was burning and felt painful, water discharge from nose, backside of her head felt like it was burning, right hand burning. The uneasiness from these conditions were observed everyday, every 6hrs and the suffering lasts 1hr. We have consulted so many neuro physicians and surgeons with no use. We have used Neugaba, gabarich, Trigabantin, Lyrica pregabalin. So far there's been slight improvement observed but still suffering from eye pain. my friend 48 yrs age had left side paralysis 8 months ago , now walking lameness and left hand still not working . Dr now prescribed tab Citicoline Sodium with Paracetam . Will it be helpful and how it work ## I am sorry, but this site is not medical professionals; that is actually something that you will need to discuss with his doctor. No one over the internet can possibly know your friends medical history or how this drug affects him, as well as the benefits or disadvantages that it provides him. I can however provide you with generalized information about the drugs he was prescribed: Citicoline is a mental stimulant that is believed to help with cognitive impairment and mental alertness. In the U.S. it is commonly used in energy drinks. Some side effects may include: nausea, dizzine...

My daughter has left side paralysis. Doctors diagnosed her with conversion disorder. But I know it's vaccine injury. She cannot sleep and has really bad headaches. He put her on amitryptille for the headache alone he claims. I don't think she would be taking this medication ## My 12 year old daughter took this med for 12 weeks to help with migraines. For some people this is a miracle drug. For her it was awful. Headaches got worse. She experienced severe anxiety and panic. We weaned her off over the course of three weeks. It has been 5 weeks since last dose and she is still not herself.

I had paralysis of left vocal cord after having a thyroidectomy. I had hoarseness and shortness of breath, which is common with the paralysis. I have since had vocal cord medialization with injection. I still have hoarseness and the shortness of breath is now worse than ever. ENT kind of brushed it aside and told me I should see a Pulmonologist to make sure Asthma is under control. For the last week shortness of breath has been REALLY bad. Saw Pulmonologist today ALL clear with my lungs. I am scheduled for a Pulmonary Function Test, so I can take results to ENT to show him at my next visit. Anyone who can relate? I am SO frustrated!

Is anyone else pregnant and taking Vii? I have the episodes of sleep paralysis, hallucinations etc. IS THIS EFFECTING MY BABY? My OB said he loves Vii and his patients like it HOGWASH!!!!!!!!!! I start a new OB next week I am curious what she thinks?!?!?! Any comments are more than welcome! Aksonflower ## Hi, Aksonflower! I understand your concern and it may be well founded, under the drug category listing, it's a pregnancy category C, which means that animal studies have shown evidence of fetal risk. No controlled studies have been done in humans, of course, since that would be unethical, but it is suggested that you should make sure that the benefits outweigh the risks, before using it in a pregnant woman. And if I'd been on any type of medication back when I had my son, thoug...

please tell me ways on preventing muscle weakness caused by hypokalemia periodic paralysis ## i want to reduce my ldl cholesterol witch is 132 ,what to do i am? ## Balot, the only real solution for Hypokalemia and the associated problems it causes is to improve the amount of Potassium in your body, by eating more Potassium rich foods and/or taking supplements. Have you seen a doctor for this? And Kumar, what has your doctor advised? There are medications that can help, but they usually require a doctor's prescription, because they can cause side effects. Statin medications are usually the class that is used and they can cause severe joint and muscle pain. ## I feel very weak, whole body, especially my legs. My doctor repeatedly prescribed me Epilex Chrono 300 for the past eleven years and I had recently experienced a paralysis stroke; I am now worried about the side effects. If you have experienced seizures, or suffered brain damage that could make you prone to them, your risk is far greater if you don't take a medication to help prevent or control them, than it is from the medication itself. You can learn more about the active ingredients here: ## I am 35 years old, height 5.1 feet, weight 52 kg, female. I have been taking epilex chrono 500mg tablets for the last six months. That said. C Toin contains the active ingredient Phenytoin, which is used to prevent seizures and its side effects may include: nausea, headache, dizziness and drowsiness. what causes guillian barr syndrome and how can it be treated. It 's symptoms are similar to MS- creeping paralysis and muscle wasting. ## Hello, Coconut! How are you? Guillain-Barré is an acute polyneuropathy, it's an ascending paralysis, it starts with weakness in the hands and feet, which then slowly moves in towards the trunk. It is most commonly triggered by an infection. Supportive care is usually the main treatment, to ensure that the patient continues receiving oxygen and, of course, antibiotics to try to eradicate the infection and stop the body's attack on the nervous system. Are there any other questions or concerns?
