And no, it isn't known to cause that as a side effect, however, it is difficult to say what effect a medication is going to have on any particular person. Have you consulted your doctor? Does this pill need to be taken on any empty stomach? How long can you eat afterwards? ## Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to help prevent or treat conditions such as ulcers, heartburn, GERD or gastritis. It can be taken with, or without food, but most people take it just before a meal, so that it has a chance to help when they eat, which is when their stomachs are going to be producing more acid. However, if your doctor or pharmacist has provided you with specific instructions on when to take it, then you should follow their advice. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking this pill (for heart attack recovery) since last fall. I already was being treated for vertigo and it seemed to make the vertigo worse plus made me be in a "fog" most of the time. Do I need to change to another generic for Protonix ? ## Hello, John! How are you? This is not a medication used to treat a heart condition of any type. This is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis. It can cause some slight dizziness as a side effect, but it really should't worsen vertigo or cause you to seem to be in a fog. Do you take any other medications? ## Thanks for your reply. my doctor gave me this pill and it has not changed any of my symptoms (belching stomach growling sore and tight throat liquid sensation in my stomach) ...sometimes it feels like they've gotten worse. I wait 30 min before breakfast in order to take it. I've been on it for a week and no difference whatsoever. would I be able to stop taking it and try soemthing else? ## Hello, April! How are you? There would be no harm in stopping it to try something else, but it can take several weeks to heal the damage that has been done from excess acid, so not all of your symptoms are going to go away in the first week. However, I actually did better and had much better results from a different class of medications than I did these ones. Pepcid worked best for me, it's available over the co...

I recieved a prescription for Pantoprazole Sodium DR 40mg. But my pill looks completely different from what I've had in the past and is different from the descriptions I can find on what it should look like. I have a white, oval tablet with "97" imprinted on one side. The imprints vary between red or black in the same bottle. What do I have in my hands? Any help is appreciated. ## How did you look for it, did you just do a search for what Pantroprazole should look like, or did you search for that imprint? The imprint is what enables a pill to be identified. If you just search for examples of what it should look like, you'll not likely have much luck, since this is a generic medication and most sites don't list all possible options. It is the correct medication, this ...

I can not take pantoprazole now but have all day issues w/ my stomach. Is there anything I can do or take to help? ## Hi maggie, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I could gather, pantoprazole is used to treat symptoms of GERD & excess stomach acid. What works for others may or may not work as well for you, however, I've had success with raw manuka honey and apple cider vinegar for eliminating excess acid and heartburn. My father also battles with esophagitis from time to time and has had very positive feedback with that regiment. Baking soda is extremely alkaline and in my experience may also be a nice addition to that arsenal of treatment. Other than that, drinking alkaline water daily (with a PH of 8-9.5), juicing raw veggies (such as a leafy greens, cucumbers, cel...
