I recieved a prescription for Pantoprazole Sodium DR 40mg. But my pill looks completely different from what I've had in the past and is different from the descriptions I can find on what it should look like. I have a white, oval tablet with "97" imprinted on one side. The imprints vary between red or black in the same bottle. What do I have in my hands? Any help is appreciated. ## How did you look for it, did you just do a search for what Pantroprazole should look like, or did you search for that imprint? The imprint is what enables a pill to be identified. If you just search for examples of what it should look like, you'll not likely have much luck, since this is a generic medication and most sites don't list all possible options. It is the correct medication, this ...

Does this pill need to be taken on any empty stomach? How long can you eat afterwards? ## Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to help prevent or treat conditions such as ulcers, heartburn, GERD or gastritis. It can be taken with, or without food, but most people take it just before a meal, so that it has a chance to help when they eat, which is when their stomachs are going to be producing more acid. However, if your doctor or pharmacist has provided you with specific instructions on when to take it, then you should follow their advice. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking this pill (for heart attack recovery) since last fall. I already was being treated for vertigo and it seemed to make the vertigo worse plus made me be in a "fog" most of the time. Do I need to change to another generic for Protonix ? ## Hello, John! How are you? This is not a medication used to treat a heart condition of any type. This is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis. It can cause some slight dizziness as a side effect, but it really should't worsen vertigo or cause you to seem to be in a fog. Do you take any other medications? ## Thanks for your reply. I take Enteric Aspirin 81 mg, Clopidogrel 75 mg, Atorvastatin 20 mg, and ...

my doctor gave me this pill and it has not changed any of my symptoms (belching stomach growling sore and tight throat liquid sensation in my stomach) ...sometimes it feels like they've gotten worse. I wait 30 min before breakfast in order to take it. I've been on it for a week and no difference whatsoever. would I be able to stop taking it and try soemthing else? ## Hello, April! How are you? There would be no harm in stopping it to try something else, but it can take several weeks to heal the damage that has been done from excess acid, so not all of your symptoms are going to go away in the first week. However, I actually did better and had much better results from a different class of medications than I did these ones. Pepcid worked best for me, it's available over the co...

Hello, I was prescribed pantoprazole 40 mg to help with my stomach pain. The medicine did make the pain leave. However, after the 8 week course my doctor reduced the dose to 20 mg and told me only to take it when necessary. I was taking 20 mg for only two days before my symptoms returned and I was forced to return to 40mg. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor soon but I am scared that I might have stomach cancer( 39 year old female). What should I expect at mh appointment. Is a relapse normal so soon after reduction in dose? Thank you. ## Well, I'd say that it isn't time to panic, calm down and relax. There are many other conditions that can cause stomach pain, that aren't stomach cancer. I have experience in this area, several years ago, I started suffering severe...

I don't have any side effects from Nexium .... .will this new pill have side effects? ## Hello, Donna! How are you? It is a different medication, but in the same drug class, they are both proton pump inhibitors. It may cause you to experience side effects, there's no way to know, until you try it and see. Is SDZ Pantoprazole as effective as Pantoprazole? And how do I take (one pill) of 40 mg. SDZ Pantoprazole each day? Label doesn't say whether with or without meals, etc. Thank you. ## They are both the same, the SDZ just stands for the manufacturer, which is Sandoz in that case. It should be taken with an 8 ounce glass of water, just before a meal, so it has time to start working, by the time your meal is digesting. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does Pantoprazole manufactured by Aurobindo contain any gluten? ## It appears that both the 20 mg (NDC 65862-559) and 40 mg (NDC 65862-560) tablets contain the same inactive ingredients: - Calcium Stearate - Crospovidone - Ferric Oxide Yellow - Hydroxypropyl Cellulose - Hypromellose 2910 (3 Mpa.s) - Mannitol - Methacrylic Acid - Ethyl Acrylate Copolymer (1:1) Type a - Sodium Carbonate - Triethyl Citrate - Ammonia - Ferrosoferric Oxide - Ferric Oxide Red - Isopropyl Alcohol - Butyl Alcohol - Propylene Glycol - Shellac As such, they should not be problematic for people with gluten sensitivity unless there was cross-contamination during the manufacturing process. I have not been able to find a medicine that helps with what my doctor thinks is Gerd. The last medicine was protonix and within 21/2 weeks I am having side effects. Ankles are spasming as well as hands however I have spondilosis. I have never had spasms in these areas until protonix and I still have food that gets stuck and continuous hiccups. My doctor put me on 400 mgs of magnesium. Any answers or opinions? ## Hello, JLM! How are you doing? It isn't actually that food gets stuck, though it does feel like it. It's esophageal erosion and irritation there. Sometimes you swallow something that irritates it and gets it acting up, so it feels like there is a lump there, but there actually isn't. And yes, that is a sign of GERD. What other medications have you tried? I had many ...
