I was prescribed fentanyl patches in May of 2010. I never opened them, and want to know if they would still be good. ## What's the expiration date on them? Fentanyl is a narcotic and it doesn't become dangerous if it is old or expired, but it can lose effectiveness and since the patches are made with a type of gel, it might have started to solidify a little, which means you would absorb less of the medication. Common side effects to these may include: nausea, drowsiness, constipation and dizziness. Learn more: ## I have fentanyl 50 mcg. Patch That are 2 yrs expired and was wondering if they will still be as potent as intended ,they are not the gel btw.. ## I get 10 mcg/hour butrans patches from my dr. How many mg is that an hour?

If I have a prescription can I fill it at any pharmacy? ## Hello, Marjorie! How are you? Yes, as long as it has been written by a licensed U.S. physician and the pharmacy has it in stock. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness, skin redness and irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

If the butrans patch out of date can u still use it ## Medications do lose effectiveness over time, so it may not work as well as it did, when new. It would be best to dispose of the expired patches and obtain a new supply. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

It is an overlay to put over the pain patch to keep it from coming off. ## I don't remember what these are called, however, I have heard of some people also having success just using small pieces of medical tape. Have you tried asking if one of your local pharmacies carry them? ## It's called Tegaderm .... use can use any breathable waterproof cover. ## can you tell me is this safe for people who have latex allergies? i tend to have horrible rashes from the duragesic patches and they never stick always falling off.. or sticking to something esle if i use medical tape i get horrible red burns on my arm.. even worse than the duragesic patches cause. so if these films work to hold them in place and do not cause more redness and burning than medical tape i may give them a try ## You...

I was shocked today when I picked up a months supply of flector pain patches.Last month I paid $22,this month $60!Has anyone else noticed a sharp increase in price or is this just another way to get people off pain meds? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? I'm sorry about the price increase. However, it's really just a matter of supply and demand. The price may change at any time. This isn't a narcotic, so it's not one of the ones they're trying to cut down on being used. Flector contains the active ingredient Diclofenac, which the FDA classifies as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Its typical side effects may include skin irritation, redness, rash, headache and nausea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Be glad you pay so little for a month supply. I paid $495 y...

Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Of of 25 is minuscule I'm on 150!,... ## Ahhh...ok,here's my situation...I ...

finding pharmacy that dispenses teva brand in louisville kentucky 40208 ## I'm sorry, but there is really now way for us to know what pharmacy has which manufacturer's product in stock, at any given time. It is something that can always change, because most pharmacies will order their generic medications from whichever company has the cheapest, when they have to restock their pharmacy shelves. Some pharmacies will order the product in, from your preferred manufacturer, if you have found that it works best for you. Have you tried talking to them about doing so? If it is more expensive, you may have to pay the relevant price difference, though.

are there K/8 patches I have never heard of them ## Hello, Ash! How are you? I assume you're asking if they are Oxycodone patches and if so, no it is not available in a patch form. What is expiration date on Fentanyl patch with lot number 267722 ## There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication. Despite what your packing may say, according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study... Im still on day one of step 1 nicoderm patch. I've been having a kind of pain in the arm that I have my patch on. It feels like I had a vaccine this morning. It is not unbearable but just annoying. Has anyone had that before? ## Hi Kat, I haven't been able to find any pertinent information stating that muscle pain is a side effect of the Nicoderm patch. However, after running a couple more Google searches about the issue I noticed a lot of complaints from people on the internet about arm pain due to the patch. I'm guessing it's an allergic reaction that some people may experiencing, but since I'm not a doctor, I don't know for sure. I can't tell you if it's serious or not, but I would recommend getting it checked out by a doctor if the pain persists or be...

I am a chronic pain patient and I have slowly got off hydrocodone 10mg-325 acetaminophen and acetaminophen#4 due to stomach issues. I also take other meds cyclobenzaprine diazepam, nortriptyline . I was prescribed the 25mg patch. after reading info with meds it states DO NOT TAKE IF NOT ALREADY USING OPIOID PAIN MED. I am scared to death to try this med. Because I have not used pain meds continually in the last 6 months. Is this safe to start? ## Fentanyl is a very strong opiate narcotic, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. The main issue I see with it, apart from it being so strong, is that it really leaves you nowhere else to go in the future. Generally, it should be the last resort medication, after other options have been exhausted, since th...

The doctor is giving me buprenorphene without the naloxone how strong is it? ## Hello, Hippy Chick! How are you? Buprenoprhine is a pretty strong opiate, it's what's used in Suboxone and Subutex to treat drug addiction, because it is strong enough to prevent withdrawals from other substances. Learn more Buprenorphine details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The only thing you can really do is try it and see how well it works for you. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Hello I have been on fentanyl since December. I started having pain at the patch site the last three months. I called my doctor they told me that I was the first one to have this side effects. I was wondering if this a common problem or not. ## No, this is something I've not seen mentioned before. Irritation of the skin has been known to occur at the patch site, but not pain. Do you always apply it so the same spot? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have been on 25mcg for 3 months, with tegaderm tape that goes right over the patch because they are breathable and stick excellent and I have naturaly oily skin and sweat easy. They don't fall off. When I take a shower I refrain from getting them wet. Just don't do it even if it says its ok. Once your short a patch it messes everything up. You patches, your breakthrough meds everything. Then you risk your doctor thinking something weird. Insurence won't fill and you always be behind 3 days if that how you wear them. They work great and I don't feel anything except thank the Lord, I'm pretty much pain free except breakthrough pain.

I will be walking and look down my 50 mcg mallinckrodt will be on the floor only after putting it on the previous day. How embarrassing. There have been times I wont even know and will feel awful. I have cystic fibrosis and 50% of my pancreas left. Im so sick of this. I do take norco for breakthrough but I feel horrible when the patch falls off. I dont want to use fabric tape all the time (which works the best, other tape doesnt). The patch is made by mallinckrodt. ## Hi peanut, Sorry to hear about your experience with the adhesive on the patch. It sounds like tape isn't much better either since it can only last for so long as well. Where have you been placing the patch at? Maybe a different spot would last longer before falling off, if it's not somewhere vulnerable. It would be...

I just got blood test results showing elevated liver ensymes. I take percodan 10/325 3xday. I also take fentanyl patch 25 every 48 hours. What meds could replace these in reguards to the elevated liver enzymes ? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? The elevated enzymes are most likely caused by the oral medication, not the patch, since it isn't processed directly through the liver. There are formulations of Oxycodone available without anything else added that your doctor can prescribe, so it won't have as much of an impact on your liver as the Percodan does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How high are your enzymes levels? ## My alt is 46 and ast is 5...

I have been on it for several months but I can't say it is very helpful. Also I seem to have a lot of trouble with achy legs, but I donteantto increase the dose and get addicted. Anyone else having this problem? ## Hello, Tina! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're in pain. Not every medication works for everyone that tries it, unfortunately, so this might not be the right choice to help you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. When I tried it, while on pain management years ago, it worked very well for me, but when a friend tried it from his doctor it did nothing for him, at all. What other medications have you...
