I have only been in the Milwaukee area for about a year and I have recently lost my Pain Mgt Dr. and I am having an impossible time trying to find another Dr who will continue with my prescription for 20 mg of Oxycontin. They all want to give me the shots or epidurals. Been there/done that and not going back to them. I have done the physical therapy, exercises, therapy, etc. They even want to do surgery but I am not going to do it. Does anyone know of a Pain Mgt Dr in the Milwaukee area that will write a prescription? ## I know of a great pain clinic. You have to pay good money besides what they collect from insurance. I don't know if he'll write for 20 MG's oxycontin but the dr and his wife will do what they can for you. They've helped me a lot. If you still want a clin...

IE: Whatever state is on your ID or license. There are restrictions on how much of any controlled substance that pharmacies can order and have in stock per month, so most have had to restrict their filling practices to only customers and doctors that are within a certain radi...

I want to move to Wash for the rest of my senior years but can't endure their regulations? ## Hello, Kindly! How are you? To be prescribed controlled substances for pain, all involved parties, such as you, your pharmacy and your doctor; will all need to be located within a certain radius of each other to make sure that the prescriptions can be validated and etc. I'm not sure what regulations you're worried about in WA making it mo...

I was on 80mg of oxycontin 3 times a day and it was no longer helping after taking it for many, many, many years. I switched to Suboxone for my Chronic Pain Mgt. Was on 6mg films for the 1st year and always had extra, as I took them at night. I was shocked how well they worked along with Flexeril for my back, leg and feet pain. Then I was cut to 3mg film once a day. I usually take the 6mg film every other day, and still forget at times, so I may only use 11 instead of 14 in 28 days. I recently tried to cut to the equivalent of 1/3 a day, but the insomnia and anxiety were off the charts after only a few days. At my last appointment it was Student Teaching Day. My Doctor explained how I am there for pain management which is why I haven't been completely we end off the medication. He a...

I have spinal stenosis, scoleosis, ddd of back as well as fm. A pain mgt dr. increased my tolerance to an extremely high one from prescribimg fenytanall patches and lolipops. Now that my OCs and other stuff isnt working im looking for a dr not afraid to prescribe fentynall in NJ tristate area ## If you're under long-term treatment for chronic pain, you're going to have to stick with seeing a pain management specialist. Learn more pain management details here. Anything the requires longer time periods has to be prescribed by a pain specialist. Why did you stop getting the patches from the person that first...

My pain mgt. doctor prescribed this med. to me for the muscle spasms I have with both MS and CRPS. My pain mgt. doctor has decided that he wants to take me off Oxycodone 40mg per day and put me on Belbuca. I don't want to do this, but he is leaving me with no choice. What should I expect? ## How is he doing the transition? In order to start the Belbuca, you'll need to be off the Oxycodone for several days, otherwise it could throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Belbuca contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, so the FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Belbuca Information Many doctors are switching their patients as a precaution to help prevent them developing opiate abuse. ## How many days should I be off? Withdrawals do not sound like fun. My Pain Mgt Dr. has been reducing my Percocet 10/325 mg pills down from 6/day to 3/day and my Kadian 20 mg pills down from 4/day to 3/day! I have been on this drug regimen for 7 yrs. due to a poor outcome from my last lumbar fusion surgery. I have heard that the DEA is requiring that all doctors must wean their patients down off of ALL opiate pain meds. Can you inform me of possibly any new developments in pain meds that would be accepted by the DEA??? Thanks so much. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? No, they don't have to take people off of all pain medications, however, they have been directed to limit how much is prescribed per day to any patient that does not have a possibly fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer. It's been requested that no one else be given more than the equiva...

My pain mgt MD gives me oxycodone IR 30mg but I cut in two and see if pain goes below 5 of 10 after 1 hr after first dose of half tab, if not I then take the other half. So far since my leg reconstruction surgery 7 weeks ago I have needed the full 30mg every time. Here is my question: Will I get a longer time of pain relief and thus a longer time period of my sense of well being when pain is gone by (1) taking the 30mg at single dose q 4 hrs or by (2)taking 15mg q 2 hrs, of course not taking the 2nd 15mg dose if pain<5? It seems to be cumulative but not in any consistent way that I can get a pattern tracked for optimal benefit? I was an RN for many years prior to CVA a few years ago, so am familiar with some of this but of course individual results vary. Thanks ## If your doctor app...

Horrible experience with RP 10/325 generic for Percocet 10/325 prescribed by my Pain Mgt Dr. I got the prescription filled at Walmart a month ago. Since that time, I have been in withdrawals, with aching muscles, mostly in my shoulders and wrists, the pain I felt before going on any pain pills over 25 years ago, also the chills and sweating, just as if I were in complete withdrawal. I took the bottle to the pharmacy and told the pharmacist what was happening and he told me he has had no other complaints and couldn't do anything for me...okay, so my husband is now picking up my new monthly prescription at Walgreens, and the manufacturer is Actavis, which I believe is the old Watson and I am praying they will take away the withdrawal feelings. Has anyone else had this issue with the R...

My primary dr has me on 10 mg percocet, 2 every 4 hrs for chronic/severe leg pain but it has lost it's effectiveness. I have appt w/pain mgt clinic on the 18th for the 1st time and am hoping they rx something stronger & definitely something that lasts longer. I haven't slept a full night in almost 2 years due to waking up in pain, taking meds, waiting for them to kick in and waiting to fall asleep again. Does anyone have an educated guess on what they may rx or what works well for this problem? Just curious and very excited at the prospect of having this pain under control. ## There are actually several time released medications that they may choose from. The most commonly used contains Oxycodone, it's called Oxycontin. There's also a time released Morphine available...
