Please if anyone knows of a doctor who would prescribe pain meds please let me know. Thank you so much. I'm so tired of hurting so bad all I do is sit and cry or stay in bed because its too difficult to get around. ## I suffer from spinal stenosis. I've dealt with this for many years, with no relief. I'm hoping one day to find a doctor who will help with pain meds. ## Hello, Blanche! How are you? If you require medications on a long-term ongoing basis to control chronic pain, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, ha...

I am moving to San Diego in a month or so and am prescribed morphine sulfate 2 times daily for spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disease and I'm afraid that I will have a hard time finding a doctor that will continue my treatment.I am also on flexeril, gabapentin and another med for depression.I have contacted a few doctors out there but no one seems to be willing to continue the treatment I now receive. I am a chronic pain patient with a Legitimate Condition and tired of being treated like a drug abuser because of people that DO abuse meds like this one! I've also ran the gambit of Pain Management clinics that seem to only want to inject steroids in your spine & also physical therapy and you name it. The med regiment I'm on now, work perfectly & I'm told by ...

I have severe spinal stenosis and herniated disks with the MRI to prove it. I had a doctors prescribe me heavy opiods for 4 years before disappearing without notice. Every pain management doctor I've called or gone to will not write any scripts. They want to do injections, which I'm all for, but I have to wait two weeks for insurance approval and I'm in a ton of pain now. I cannot find a doctor to help me. I'm in Bergen County which is North Jersey. Can anyone please help?

Opioids have been the least of all evils for pain relief. We have tried with various anti inflammatories. Those wreaked havoc on my kidneys. I was just informed by my PCP that this will be the last month she can help me with my monthly opioids. I am scared to death and sick at my stomach. Hi, it is so sad to see so many of us suffering needlessly due to ignorance! PLEASE HELP, ANYONE WHO KNOWS OF A PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR IN SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY AREA (or within a couple of hours) who will help as I have moved here from California and desperate to find a caring pain doctor! It took SIXTEEN doctors and about 8 years of HELL to finally find a medication regime that helps my extreme chronic pain from two serious car accidents and several bad slip and falls. Quick list: Extreme FMS, herniated disks, spinal cysts, stenosis, spondylosis, arthritis, osteoporosis, nerve impingement, neuritis/neuropathy, massive inflammation throughout, for about 12 years have been taking methadone 10 mg, norco for breakthrough, soma for muscle spasm, neurontin for nerve pain. Ask if they accept cash pay patients, some do and some don't. You will need a copy of your medical records from your previous dr. If you were dismissed for breaking a pain contract or other rules, it will be very difficult, if not impossible to find a dr to manage your pain. ## Did you ever find a doctor that accepts cash paying patients/no insurance? I have chronic pain due to a accident in 2001, nd again in 2003. I have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, lower lumber sprain, nd redicolopothy! I 've been on 30mg of Oxycodon pop has reduced my dose to 90 pills. No I don't have any addiction I always take my meds as prescribed. But my doctor told me he had to cut my dosage down due to DEA. I went to a pain management Dr, who insulted me by telling me I need to take his personals injections, nd start doing physical therapy. Mind you my Orthopedic surgeon, has state that my condition is so bad the Injections nor physical therapy would help me. But this nut case. Insist that I'm another person of color on drugs. I live in Sioux Falls SD and I am trying to find a doctor that will prescribe pain meds. I had a pain management doctor that prescribed 4 10 mg hydrocodones a day, but moved to Nevada. Now I have moved back and she is full and can’t see me. I have arthritis, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disorder and a spinal fusion. My doctor keeps sending me in for epidurals for my lower back, and they sometimes work for two or three months, but it doesn’t help with the pain every where else. I work 10 hour days and barely make it through. Thinking about filling for disability, but I know it’s a long road. ## Very few, if any, people will recommend pain Doctors because that will normally cause too many people to come to them. The Doctor may think that they have bee...

I am in the Covington la. northshore of new Orleans. I have unrelenting RA and sciatica because of spinal stenosis. I have been on an antiinflamatory and Norco 5 a day for over a yr. my orthopedic says I have to go to pain management. I don't want shots in my spine. does anyone know of a pain dr. in this area who can treat these conditions with opiates? I sleep maybe 3 hrs a day, neverat night because the RA is too painful. constant panic attacks! ## There is no way of knowing how a dr will treat you until you've seen them a few times. If you call and ask if a dr only uses pain meds, you will be told no because thatis a red flag for drug seeking behavior. Have you seen a Rheumatoligist for the RA ? Have you seen a Neurologist for an EMG for the sciatica ? You will need a copy of...

I am 58 yrs old. I am in the final stage of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. With this disorder I also have killer nerve pain, and numbness. In the past I have been on all of the oxy drugs. Took Methdone 40 4x a day for about 4 yrs. worked at first, but then declined. Next I was put on Opana 40mg. Twice a day. Did great on that until they changed the makeup of it, and it started to cause vomiting. I told my Dr. about it so he changed my meds to Morphine Sulfate 60mg twice a day. I started to take it, and 6 hours after I took it, it made me vomit horribly for 3 hours. This went on for 4 days. I called my Dr. and now he wants me to find another pain clinic Dr. He pretty much was my last option, for my area, and he is close to 2 hours away. Does this drug continue to cause this reaction, or if take...

I was put on pain management years ago. I've had many of surgeries and have pelvic neuralgia , bulging discs at L5 and S1, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and bi-lateral neuralgia. I became addictive 2 the pain meds. And went on methadone. I was on (110) mg. a day. Once I got down 2 (24)mg. I was in such bad w/d I went 2 my Dr. In tears. He gave me 2 choices, stay on the methadone and increase the amount or go on suboxone. I went on the subs that day. I had come down 2 far with the methadone 2 start over, again. My question is: would any Dr. Ever put me on pain management, again? I suffer so severely with pain, I can't take much more. Even if I have 2 let my husband hold them 4 me ang give them 2 me as prescribed. Please, any suggestions may b helpful. ## I work in an...

I am at the mercy of the medical and insurance systems for any quality of life possible for me after a failed back surgery led to an unstable spine and 57 degree curve scoliosis. I also have spinal stenosis, severe nerve root impingement, hip replacements in both legs after I was misdiagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and placed on steroids that caused spinal and general bone degeneration. I am in severe pain without medication. I wake up every morning in pain and have to take MEDS to begin to function. My former pain management doctor was under- medicating me, and I suffered a fractured hip during this time my doctor refused to increase my MEDS. My primary increased my MEDS and the pain stopped robbing me of my life. I later reduced the MEDS to the lower dose when the fracture healed s...

For various reasons I suffer severe pain related to: Spinal Stenosis, herniated disc in cervical spine, previous broken tailbone. I have previously tried, Oxycontin, Hydrocodone, but now am on Fentanyl patch along with Neurontin. These only control about 50% of pain and have often "breakthrough" pain that is nearly unbearable. A friend recommended Methodone to add to these meds. Can anyone tell me if it would help? Also, would it be risky as far as overdosing? I have a really high tolorance to opiates. ## In most cases, Methadone wouldn't be advised, because it is very addictive and habit forming. In most cases for breakthrough pain, an instant release medication would be used, such as Oxy IR, which is available as a generic, or MS IR, which is an instant release morphine th...

I came across this forum and reading everyones stories it really saddens me. I too am a pain sufferer. I to have been on pain meds for many years. I have had to find a new doctor months ago as my old one retired. What a task that was. It was horrific. Im in Jersey and I spent days upon days calling all over NJ trying to find a doc to take over for me. Finally, my pharmacist of all people, recommended doc. I went a few months ago and because of all the stupid restricitions the DEA is putting on drs my intake amount has been cut dramatically. I went from having a f...

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If...

My doctor recently left the practice. He was my GP and wrote all my meds including pain meds for my spinal stenosis. The doctor he referred me to is writing them but she is reducing them and told me that the practice is trying to get patients on narcotics over to pain management doctors. I know that many pain management doctors do not write prescriptions and instead do injections, PT, etc. I have been down that road with nothing to show for it. Does anyone know of a good pain management doctor that will write pain meds but not subject you to a UA every single month or an office visit every single month? It's not that I won't pass it I just don't want another paranoid doctor that is more worried about the Fed than me. Thank you! ## That's not just something that their pra...

I have been on Hydromorph Contin 6mg for 2yrs for spinal stenosis and disc problems and the doctor gradually has increased the dosage (I take 2 pills in the am and 2 in the pm). The problem is that I have a sensitivity to codeine and morphine and eventually I cannot take the meds anymore. Is there other painkillers I can take that are not derived from codeine or morphine? I have also been on fentnyl patches but am allergic to the glue used on the patch. ## Did the Fentanyl help? Was the problem with it just caused by the allergy to the glue? If so, there is another option, available, it also comes in the form of a lollipop called Actiq. Here's the link to more details on it, so you can decide if it's something you'd like to discuss with your doctor: ## Have you ever tried na...
