I have gone from a pill to a shot for type II diabetes. When I first started taking shots I was already taking hydrocodein 3X 10/325 per day. Once I started the shots I started getting a rash on my left arm and right leg. I tried all the insulans available and ended up with Humalog 75/25 mix, this being the one that was working with the least amount of rash symptoms. I still have the rash, could this be the Acetaminophen causing the remainder of the rash? I have reduced my weight changed my diet to the point where I only take one 20ml injection in the morning, I still have the rash on my arm. I eat with my medication and in fact eat4 to 5 times per day, I'm exercising 1 hour per day at least 5 days a week to the point to where I sweat. When I sweat it seams to not be as itchy, any i...

I've had severe chronic pain for years. Pain dr. Gave me 7.5/325 hydrocodone. I have hep c and chronic anemia. I don't want either tylenol or Ib.. what can I ask for that has none of those and is stronger? Would a fentanyl patch work? ## Hello, Andrea! How are you feeling? Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic available, so it may not be wise to jump straight to it, because that's not going to leave you anywhere to go in the future, once you build up a tolerance. Learn more Fentanyl details here. There are several others that are stronger and don't contain NSAIDs. One would be Oxycodone, which is available in instant release, regular release and time released formulations. Learn more Oxycodone details here. There's also Morphine, Dilaudid and Opana. I have diverticulitis is there anything I can take that does not contain acetaminophen for pain ## Hello, Missy! How are you? Yes, there are many available that don't contain Acetaminophen. Some examples in the opiate category include Oxycodone, Zohydro, Dilaudid, Morphine and Opana. The FDA classifies these mediations as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. All of these require a prescription from your doctor, plus there are also non-narcotic options you can discuss with them. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have severe and chronic skeletal pain. Have been taking Tramadol 50mg. the Acetaminophen has caused painful liver symptoms. Is there a pain medication that DO NOT have acetaminophen? ## Hello, Audrey! How are you? What have you been taking exactly? If it's just Tramadol 50mgs, then there is no Acetaminophen in it. If it contains Acetaminophen, then there should be a second dosage listed. That said, there are many options available that do not contain Acetaminophen, including Tramadol by itself, Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Oxymorphone and Morphine. The FDA classifies these mediations as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzies, headache, constipation and dry mouth.

I had back surgery for degenerative disc disease in November,1997 to relieve excruciating severe lower back pain. The neurosurgeon implanted a Bak-Cage, *L3,4 and 5*, Unfortunately the surgery was not a success which simply disabled me, I had no other alternative, I now rely on Social Security and I live my life in 'Chronic' extreme back pain, thankfully there are medications that can help. After my surgery, I began seeing a phyciaciatrist and he has been my doctor ever since. I was placed on OxyContin for a short time. Then I then was prescribed morphine. Morphine did not help my pain whatsoever, in fact I was just a miserable zombie. I was then placed on Lorcet 10/750 until the FDA put restrictions on the amount of Acetominiphine. My doctor still prescribed me lorcet 10/650 eve...

I need an extended relief med, I have Hep C so do not want any acetaminophen and all this info is coming from the pharmacist I need to find an alternative extended relief pain medication in lieu of morphine or anything with acetaminophen due to my Hep C liver condition; currently applying for disability and all of this is coming from the pharmacist not the actual doctor. ps I live in FL ## Hello, Beckie! How are you? There is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available that's called Oxycontin, which contains no Acetaminophen and there is also a time released pain patch available called Duragesic, which contains only the narcotic Fenantyl, so you may want to discuss these options with your doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and ma...

I just got blood test results showing elevated liver ensymes. I take percodan 10/325 3xday. I also take fentanyl patch 25 every 48 hours. What meds could replace these in reguards to the elevated liver enzymes ? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? The elevated enzymes are most likely caused by the oral medication, not the patch, since it isn't processed directly through the liver. There are formulations of Oxycodone available without anything else added that your doctor can prescribe, so it won't have as much of an impact on your liver as the Percodan does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How high are your enzymes levels? ## My alt is 46 and ast is 5...

Help!! I go to pain management once a month. Been on Hydromorphone (8mgs.3x's a day) for about a year. Not helping much at all for quite a while! I'm On Hydromorphone cause I have Hep C. My question is: does Oxycodone come without acetaminophen and Tylenol? ## Hello, Sassie Massie! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Tylenol is just a name brand for Acetaminophen, so they are the same thing. And yes, Oxycodone is available by itself in instant release, regular release and time released formulations. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you, Verw...

I picked up my usual prescription for Percoset and it was obvious when I opened the bottle that it was not the same manufacturer, as my medication has always been oblong white capsules by Mallinckrodt (which I just found out from my pharmacy - CVS - who aren't willing to do anything without speaking with my doctor). Anyway, I have been telling my boyfriend all weekend that these were not working and I have had to take more than prescribed. I have been in constant pain for over 3 years and I know my body well enough and my schedule well enough to know that these do not alleviate my pain unless doubled. I am FURIOUS because I never would have questioned the manufacturer thinking, as a layman in pharmaceuticals, that the ingredients would be the same but their NOT. My weekend has been ...

I HAVE USED THIS MEDICATION FOR SEVERE PAIN. AS OF 2014 THEY WILL NO LONGER COVER THIS DRUG. WHAT WOULD WOULD BE THE SAME AS THIS DRUG THAT THEY MAY COVER? GENERIC IF POSSIBLE. ## Hello, Joyce! How are you? Who will no longer cover it, your insurance company? If so, you may want to ask them what they will cover, or ask your pharmacist. Without knowing your insurance carrier, everyone else can really only make random guesses.

Hydrocodone is Great for pain after a root canal! ## Hi Bob, Glad to hear that the Hydrocodone is really helping your pain. From what I hear, the combination of Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen seems to be a common choice for many post operative dental procedures. I believe 10mg is also highest you can get for this particular medication, so I'm guessing the pain is probably pretty severe without this high of a dose. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Vicodin Details Did your dentist let you know how long the pain is expected to last?

My daughter had surgery on Wednesday last week and was prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 7.5/325 15 ml every 4 hrs for pain. How many days should that last? ## Hello, Meg! How are you? I'm sorry, but I can't answer your question without more information. How much is in the bottle? Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## My mom was prescribed liquid oxcycodone 5 mg/5 ml an quanity of 473 how many pills would that be an which is better the liquid or pill form?? ## Is there a difference the way the doctor writes the prescription for my actaminophen/hydrocodone or should i...

I've been approximately 10 years on hydrocodone acetaminophen 10-500. It now has been changed to Hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325 without any consultation. What would be the reason for the change and will it attack the pain the same? Thank you. Todd ## All prescription tylenol combinations medications had to reduce the amount of tylenol to no more than 325 mg in Jan 2014. The FDA has even taken action to withdraw the approval for prescription meds that have more than 325 mg tylenol. The decrease in tylenol may or may not make any difference to you. Some drs are telling their patients to add 1 regular strength tylenol to the prescription meds, if they need it. Just be sure to keep track of how much tylenol you take in a 24 hrs period and don't let it exceed 4,000 mg in a 24 hr pe...

I had a total shoulder replacement and my doctor gave me Percocet to go home with. They immediately took the pain away for about 4-5 hours. How do I tell my doctor they are not working without her thinking I just want Percocet? ## just tell your doctor.i'm having the same problem with my new doctor.and start looking for another doctor without telling anyone just in case.your in my prayers ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, while this contains a different narcotic, Hydrocodone. I HAVE OA AND need both knees and right hip replaced, I also have bone infarcts in both legs and in 2003 had a car accident that broke my neck c5,c6 &c7 along with damaging L5 -S1 disc herniation effacing the right S1 nerve root. my sciatic nerve is pinched and the pain is indescribable. I had extensive back surgery 5 months ago and i also have severe migraines. i have 1 oxycontin 10 mg tab left and i am in a lot of pain today. can I take the oxycontin ? i took 2 tablets of 5/325 oxyco/acetam 3 hours ago ## Hello, Andrayan! How are you? You should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. It would best not to combine them, without checking with your doctor, due to the fact that you may risk an overdose, if the dose higher than what you usually take. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have a right below the knee amputation due to a land mine that happened in 1968, have never needed pain meds up until 2 to 3 years ago at which time my doc prescribed hydroc/apap 10-650 mg--formerly lortab. Now it has been changed to the same thing only in a 10-325 mg which from what I have been told was due to a change in the law Jan 2014-the 10-650 did a fair job if I oook one every 4 hrs of course the 10-325 do not seem to help very much, have about a 8 out of ten on the pain chart. My wife was given Oxycod/ap 5-325 when she had Cancer surgery, I have taken some of the leftovers and can go 8 to 10 hrs without much pain at all. Can you tell me if they still made this or something equal to it or even the 10-650 lortab that is easily avaviable? Thanks!!1 ## The tylenol in all prescript...

Does 800mg ibuprofen help the two tablets of acetaminophen/codeine 30-300 work better to relieve pain? As well as hydrocodone 7.5-325? ## No, while Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen can augment how well an opiate works for some people, it is not going to make it equivalent to Hydrocodone. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It would also be best not to take anything else, without your doctor's approval. Are they aware that you are taking two tablets?
