What the heck did they take vicodin off the market for? I know acetaminophen.... bad for your liver?.. the main ingreediant in over the counter tylenol. Ten years ago I was in a accident and broke my back and femur now I'm paralyzed and have had six surgery's and need to know what they are going to replace vicodin with (that works)!! I am not a drug addict, if I wanted to get high I'd smoke marijuana or do street drugs, but I don't want that. What I want is the pain relief like I got from the 660 vicodin that was working fine before they took it away. Now there are days that I lay in bed for 14 hours. I only took half a pill in the morning and the other half at dinner. And I have never had any of these side effects they say are caused by vicodin. Now I got norco10/325 an...

I have Osteoarthritis, possibly Fibromyalgia, and two knees that are bone-on-bone and need replacement. Even though I take Tramadol 300 ER daily and Arthrotec, 2 Tylenol, and 2 Aleve three times a day, I am still in pain. Forgetting to take meds or being out of meds for a day causes unbelievable aches everywhere except my fingers, elbows and toes. I cannot work and cannot sleep. I also get very emotional and angry and my BP goes up. I will soon be having my first knee replaced. The doctor said I will need to be off all the pain meds except for Tylenol. I do not believe I can do this. A couple times the doctor has given me steroids when I was having a flare up and it completely eliminated the swelling and pain. What medications could I safely take in the 2 weeks prior to knee replacement...

My husband has lumbago (lower back pain) and I gets pretty bad where it keeps him up at night. He had Medicaid however he's switched to a few doctors and none are willing to give him anything that works for him for pain these days 2 years ago he was on a combination of Valium and norco but since that doctor was no longer available the next doctor would t prescribe them. And since then it has been really hard to get pain meds with all the crack downs on it. He takes naproxen and flex aril and the naproxen doesn't touch the pain Tylenol works sometimes when he's not feeling too bad and ibprophin is a joke. He has asked to stop flexaril when he takes it it upsets his stomach something terrible so today the doctor took him off of it and didn't replace it. He is interested in...

Prescription filled by various companies. Last was Teva , excellent results, can cut in half, works. Now Aurobindo, can take whole tab, something I have never done, it does nothing. No pain relief at all. Grateful still have some Teva to cut up. Looks like hip replacement needs replacing. Understand high failure. ## What are the markings on the tablet you are having a problem with? Sometimes the manufacturer listed on the bottle is just a licensed distributor, not the company that actually made the medication. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA lists this medication as containing Acetaminophen, and Codeine. They warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

How long after taking Tylenol 3 is it safe to take Norco? ## Hello, Kellie! How are you? Have those both been prescribed for you? It's very uncommon for someone to be permitted to double up on the Acetaminophen that these both contain, due to the dangerous risks of overdose, which could be fatal. The FDA classifies this medications as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It would be best not to mix them, or to replace one with the other, if switching medications, at the next dosing time, with your doctor's approval. ## They like u to wait 4 to 6 hours before switching to another type of pain medication but there is actually no drug interaction bewtween th...

Hello, I have been managing joint and joint replacement pain for years with Norco 10/325 on an as-needed basis. We are using the 10 mg because it as a smaller ratio of Tylenol than the 5/325. I have been careful to use it only as needed because I fear addiction. Recently I painfully injured my hip and needed to use pain killers more often. My doctor switched me to Percocet, which did little for the pain and gave me a huge headache. I thought maybe the headache was a fluke or had to do with switching from Norco, so I spent a 3 day weekend in a chair without any pain meds and then tried the Percocet again, but the results were the same - headache and little pain reduction. So I went back to the Norco, using it more often and in a slightly higher dose. My biggest fear became reality - I de...

I have really bad rheumatoid arthritis and bad knees had one replaced have been on hydrocodone but now doctor is trying to get me to go off of that or at least go down to three a day this would work during the day but then at night I can’t sleep because of paint so can I take Tylenol p.m. to sleep at night ## If you are taking Hydrocodone that also contains Acetaminophen, it would be best not to add the Tylenol, since it also contains Acetaminophen, which could result in your experiencing Acetaminophen toxicity, and it has been known to be fatal. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. What has your physician advised to help with your insomnia issues?

Hi . I had Been using tramadol recently for back pain and leg pain and sleepless which didn't work well . I was then switched to hydrocod/acetem 7.5 325 mg that was some what better than tramadol. but I ent up having liver pain just under my right ribs and yellowish stools from the acedimedfin or Tylenol . so my doctor put me back on tramadol 50mg every 6 hours.. i get the same results from no better than previous . What i need to ask is.. are there any other pain meds that don't contain acedimedfin Tylenol that won't affect my liver. Even Knowing almost any meds can affect the liver ! Oh and it would need to be covered by Medicare.. is what I have.. even if it won't be covered.. I would like to know what's out there... Thank you ! ## Yes, there are various other opt...

I'm taking Norco 10/325 for a hip replacement but I have a bad toothache so should I take Tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain until I can get to the dentist next week? ## Hello, Diane! How are you? Norco actually contains 2 active ingredients, Hydrocodone which is a narcotic, and Acetaminophen, which is the pharmaceutical name for Tylenol. Thus, it would not be safe to double up on it. Additionally, the Norco itself should actually help, it is commonly prescribed for toothaches. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. When will you be seeing your dentist?

Iam a 65yo male with osteogenisis imperfecta, scoliosis, osteoarthritis,IBS,hypertension etc. I had both knees replaced 22 years ago. Recently an increase in pain in L hip prompted my PC Doc to do the mscontin thing. I was already on the 60mg's codeine 3 times a day. This has been great, finally i can walk around pretty much pain free most of the day. I just wondering about all that tyelnol, because its been about 30 or 40 years taking tyelnol and I'm worried about my liver. What else would be good.for BTP. I dont see my doc for another three weeks and I would just like to get some input. ## Hello, Rickey! How are you? There are other options you can use for breakthrough pain that don't have Acetaminophen/Tylenol in them, such as a regular release Morphine or Oxycodone. You may...

How long can my sister take this 5 mg oxycodone w/500 mg tylenol med safely? She just had surgery to re-align fractures in both her radius & Luna and replace her shattered elbow. Her pain level is extremely high (rating 1 to 10, she is a 15) ## How long she can safely take it is entirely up to her doctor. The FDA does warn that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. However, currently, there are no doses on the market that contain more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Are you sure of what she's taking? Did you mean her ulna? Is she on any other medications?

How long after taking 2 tylenol can I take a norco 5/325? ## I suffer severe neck pain from degenerative arthritis. My doctor refuses to give me a script for hydrocodone which is the only drug that helps me. Can you suggest some other drug I could take that would help me? ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you? It would be 8 hours, you'd need to replace the next Tylenol does with the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen. Taking too much Tylenol/Acetaminophen in any 8 hour period may result in overdose toxicity, which can be fatal. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Dorothy, have you tried pain management? You may get more help from a speci...

My mom is 75 years old and has never really had to take opiate pain killers in the past. She doesn't even take them after a root canal. However, her hip started giving her trouble about 2 years ago, but just now is having so much pain that she has to take at least one pain pill so she can get up. She has Tylenol 3 with codeine and generic percocet. The tylenol 3 is starting to not control it, but she is afraid of becoming dependent So, big question. How many tablets can she take w/o becoming dependent? I can't get her to take two of either one of the two meds because she is so terrified! She has to get her hip replaced eventually, with pain about every 3 days that is enough for her to be suffering. How can I ease her fears???? ## Hello, Chris! How is she doing? Perhaps the best ...

I picked up my last perscription from Walgreens for percocet n noticed right away the pills didn't look the same. I took them w/o pain releif looked up the pill number 104/44, fraud! I called police, confronted pharmacist giving fake drugs back, I called the DEA and reported this to walgreens dist office..have meds rechecked in front of u with pharmacist, any narcotics ## Wow! That is astounding and I am very sorry this happened to you. For future reference for anyone, all pills that are marked with a 44, followed by 3 additional numbers, are over the counter products. This one in particular just contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen, it is a generic or store brand of over the counter, regular strength Tylenol. Have you gotten any resolution to the matter, such as an apology, replacement ...

I am searching for a comparible drug to the Oxycodone? Due to national shortage I cannot get the Oxycodone. But I need something to replace it without Tylenol. ## I'm not sure how comparable these two drugs are to Oxycodone, as I have never taken them. But to help answer your question, Dilaudid (hydromorphone) as well as Demerol (meperidine) are also narcotic pain relievers used to treat moderate to severe pain. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Dilaudid Details and Demerol (meperidine) Details Maybe you could ask your doctor about either of these options as potential candidates for replacing Oxycodone. Hope this helps! ## There are other options, but it may be difficult to locate any of them in stock in a pharmacy. However, a couple you can discuss with your doctor...

Have kidney stone and was prescribed Hydro/Apap 5-325. Says to take 1 tablet every six hours. Took half a tablet four hours ago because a whole tablet was making me sick and dizzy. Half a tablet is doing nothing at this point, so can I take tylenol after four hours or do I have to wait until six hours? ## Can I you take zolnoks 10mg half tab every 6 hours throughout the day and night? My mother who is 71 years old had a knee replacement and zolnoks seem to help taken with pain medicine, senaleve. ## Hello, Calchandl! How are you? I'm researching pain meds for my knee pain after a replacement. ## Naproxen is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Naproxen is the generic name for Aleve, The difference is that Aleve is OTC because it is only 220 mg and Naproxen is prescription because it is 500 mg. Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and tylenol. Hydrocodone is a narcotic and can be addicting. You must have a prescription to get Vicodin. ## @original post, No, Naproxen is not stronger than Vicodin. Although it could probably compare to the acetaminophen in Vicodin, the hydrocodone is still a far more potent pain reliever in and of itself. If you're unsure of which medication to take for pain relief, I think it would be wise to ask your doctor/surgeon for their opinion on what might be most appropriate for y...

Can we take something else to get back the 175mg of Tylenol in some way to get back the pain reliever? (Blue watson vs. white watson) if they took OUT the dye and they took OUT 175mg of the Tylenol then why is the pi;; the same size? What did they replace it with they could be causing my issues? blisters, white bumps and swelling ## Hi jo, Sorry to hear about those strange side effects you've been experiencing recently. It sounds to me like there's something drug manufacturers are not telling us. Surely it'll come out of the wood work over the next few years when the FDA decides to investigate why so many patients aren't getting any relief from these new meds. A lot of the time, certain side effects can also be associated with all the binders and fillers they put in each...

I have taken hydrocodone 5/325 for knee pain as needed for about 9months, while waiting to move to a different city. I finally made the move in mid December, and had total knee replacement on Feb. 4. After having morphine and a shot block to that leg, pain in the hospital was manageable. Upon discharge, I was given a prescription for Oxycodone. These worked fine so long as I took two. (rx said " 1-2 tablets"). When these were gone, the doctor replaced them with hydrocodone 7.5/325. These just dont work. To get any relief, I have to take extra Tylenol with them, and then I only get relief for about 3 hours, not 6. Is there an alternative pain med I could ask for? I know he is concerned about my getting addicted, but I didn't get addicted in the 9months because I only took the...
