I’ve been on phentermine 37.5 mg capsule & it not working at all. I was on it once before when my doctor put me on hormone replacement. I gained weight & it worked fine. I’m usually 5’6” & 120lbs. I have a painful back injury & neuroscopic surgery, epidural injections, etc. But nothing has helped my chronic pain. Anyhow, this time a doctor put me on Gabapentin & I gained 20 lbs in 2 months. YIKES! I’ve been on some kind of pain medication since 2001. I’ve done everything the doctors asked including keeping my weight down. Until this one doctor prescribed Gapapentin & all it did was make me fogbrained & gain weight. Now I’m trapped inside this body w/20 extra lbs & now my back & neck hurts more than ever. My pr...

I take Opana 20mg three times a day for chronic pain, along with Roxicodone 15mg 4X's a day. I was wondering if anyone out there had noticed that the Opana's don't do anything as much as the Roxis/Oxycodone do? I also just use them as perscribed and am only in my 20's and have had over 35 surgeries. I go see my pain management physician in a couple of days and want to know if anyone out there has tried something similar to what I'm not and what they might have been switched to to get better relief of pain. Thank you for any advice. ## Everyone is different, so it could be that the Oxycodone works better for you, than the Opana. Given how many surgeries you've had, you may also have a very high tolerance to pain medications. The FDA warns that these medications ca...

What the heck did they take vicodin off the market for? I know acetaminophen.... bad for your liver?.. the main ingreediant in over the counter tylenol. Ten years ago I was in a accident and broke my back and femur now I'm paralyzed and have had six surgery's and need to know what they are going to replace vicodin with (that works)!! I am not a drug addict, if I wanted to get high I'd smoke marijuana or do street drugs, but I don't want that. What I want is the pain relief like I got from the 660 vicodin that was working fine before they took it away. Now there are days that I lay in bed for 14 hours. I only took half a pill in the morning and the other half at dinner. And I have never had any of these side effects they say are caused by vicodin. Now I got norco10/325 an...

Used to use dark pink pain medication, it helped pain and helped me ot sleep. anyone know what it is. I thought it was made by Watson. I have just started going to a pain management clinic. Got Percocet. It was really weak. ## Hello, Frito! How are you? Was it an oblong tablet form? If so, I think you might be referring to Darvocet, which was a mild narcotic analgesic that contained Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene. It has been removed from the market due to the severe risks of cardiac issues that it was found to cause, as well as an inordinate number of overdose fatalities. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If the Percocet isn't working for you, there...

I have been on humira for 14 months along with mtx. I have yet to see any improvement. I feel like I'm getting worse actually. I use a cane to walk. My elbow & knees hurt so bad to touch the bed to sleep. It keeps me awake at night. I am relying on ibp & oxycodone every 6 hrs to try & move. I have an appointment with my rheumatologist in 2 weeks &hoping for a change in medication. I assume I should have seen some relief by now. Anyone else take it so long without relief? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. Yes, I think that after 14 months, if there's no improvement, it is time to move on and try something else. Can anyone that's been on it chime in with their experiences? The FDA lists the typical side effects of...

Hello I just started taking Belviq, and so for I haven't had any feelings of fullness or any side affects. Ive taken Addipex in the past and had an immediate feeling of fullness. Will this kick in ## Hello, Shelita! How are you? How long have you been taking it? Have there been any change, yet? Can anyone that's taken this medication chime in with their experience? Belviq does work differently than many other weight loss medications, it actually affects the chemicals in the brain that are connected to appetite. Thus, you may still feel hungry, but not as hungry and may not eat as much. As reported by the U.S. FDA, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, constipation, cough and back pain.

Please give me some insight on the matter if the meds don't work what am I going to do I don't want to stop working. I am 53 years old and I don't want to sit at home I will rather work. ## Hello, Bertha! How are you? It is actually about equivalent to what you were taking, so it should work about the same. I was prescribed Percocet in the hospital. In the hospital they were giving me 2 every 4 hours. I continued that at home. Today when I ran out I looked at the bottle and I was supposed to switch to one every 4 hours. They also prescribed Norco 5 for after I finished the Percocet, so since I didn't have any I started the Norco today. I am in pain and they aren't working. I didn't sleep at all last night. What do I do? ## You don't say what mg the Percocets were but Norco is a totally different medication, it is not as strong as the Percocets. In my experience Advil works better than Norcos. ## The percocets were 5 and the norcos are 5. I have had gastric bypass so I cannot take NSAIDS. I did call the dr today and they are calling in flexeril. ## Please post back and let u...

My doctor put me on nucynta er 150 mg x2 daily for chronic pain and I'm not getting any pain relief. Does it take time to work? I've been on it for 3 weeks. ## Hello, Kurtfen! How are you? No, it is an opiate and should have some effect within about 15 to 20 minutes of taking it. However, it could be that it's just not the right medication to help you. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you informed your doctor of the issue? You may need to try a different medication.

Not and latey my periods have been normal I scares me A bit is there achanc the Eliquis is not working ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? There's always a chance that any given medication will not work for someone, that's why there are usually several options to try in any given therapeutic category. Have you had any of the other side effects, such as nausea, headache, joint/muscle pain or easy bruising? Your doctor would be the best judge. ## I had been on Xarelto 20mg for almost a year when I was switched to Eliquis 5mg. Reason for meds was dvt i...

I have been prescribed Topzole 40 for a suspected ulcer, it helped for the first week but three weeks in I am suffering with terrible reflux again. I am supposed to be on it for 2 months, I have had the odd glass of wine and a cup of coffee each day, could this be the cause or could there be another reason. ## Hello Nicole! How are you? Yes, when you have an ulcer and a problem with reflux, it's usually best to refrain from alcohol and coffee for several months, to allow healing to occur. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Are you also watching what you eat to stay away from spicy and/or acidic foods? They can also contribute to the problem. It's also just possible that this medication d...

I have an duodenal Ulcer in my stomach and when ever I have to take any inflammatory medication I always take altosec just in case,I have slipped discs at the bottom of my spine which has affected my right sciatic nerve from my hip down to my big toe.I walk every day to keep myself mobile, only take medication when really necessary and just want to verify whether it is better to take after or before a meal ## Hello, Beryl! How are you? You should take the Altosec before a meal, that way it actually has time to start working by the time you're digesting your meal. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?

At the hospital with heart and chest pain. Already on a Fentanyl patch and its not working. Is there anything stronger than the Fentanyl patch? ## No, Fentanyl is really the strongest narcotic on the market, since it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine. However, there are medications they can give you that would work faster, but on that the relevant question is, what is causing the pain? ## I need a dr in Binghamton area for my medications fentanol and Percocet my dr went out with cancer and the other dr is not weighting he scripts for anyone any more new York Binghamton vestal plead help ## Ask at your hospital for the name of a Pain Specialist, or Rheumatologist. I had a urinary problem after I bought and ate the kidney of a cow. I was feeling a hot sensation when urinating, so Purbac DS is one drug I was given three days ago. I am still in pain when urinating four days later. ## I'm also having difficulties when urinating. It's painful and I started on this medication a week ago. ## I have just started taking purbac medication but was taking the wrong dose until I noticed. Now, the problem is that I'm left with 4 doses and my next refill date is on 28/10/2017, so I wonder if it's possible to skip my dose? ## Lawrence, have you finished your full course of treatment with the Purbac DS? I have been on 15 milligram oxycodone instant release for almost a year I've got to where there are not working as well as they were in the beginning I need an increase to the 30's and my doctor has me on methadone I don't understand why he has me on methadone for breakthrough and opiates at the sametime I would rather him give me something else for breakthrough like a 30 milligram oxycodone to help with my breakthrough and take me out to methadone ## Hello, Vince! How are you? Methadone is also an opiate that treats pain very well for many people, so it's in the same drug class as the Oxycodone. And why do you want to just suddenly double your Oxycodone? It would be better to increase it in smaller increments, to prolong the amount of time it takes you to develop a tole...

Hello. I am on the Fentanyl 50mcg patch taken the standard way. Change every 72 hours. I have been on the patch for almost a week. I am on the patch for excruciating thigh and lower leg pain due to spinal problems.Tomorrow will be my third new patch. My questions are: I have yet to notice anything that seems like pain relief. Nothing. Should I have noticed any kind of relief by now, or does it take longer than I've allowed it so far. ## Hello, Greg! How are you? Yes, you should've noticed some pain relief within an hour or so of putting on the first one. However, it is possible that it just might not work for you. Have you contacted your doctor about it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzines...

I have gone from a pill to a shot for type II diabetes. When I first started taking shots I was already taking hydrocodein 3X 10/325 per day. Once I started the shots I started getting a rash on my left arm and right leg. I tried all the insulans available and ended up with Humalog 75/25 mix, this being the one that was working with the least amount of rash symptoms. I still have the rash, could this be the Acetaminophen causing the remainder of the rash? I have reduced my weight changed my diet to the point where I only take one 20ml injection in the morning, I still have the rash on my arm. I eat with my medication and in fact eat4 to 5 times per day, I'm exercising 1 hour per day at least 5 days a week to the point to where I sweat. When I sweat it seams to not be as itchy, any i...

Is it just me and the pain I'm in or does anyone else feel like the Xtampza just isn't cutting it ! I started on 9mg every 12 hours two months ago. I at one point even filled out a DEA report and returned the medication to my doctor's office ( after spending a lot of money on it) To only have to go without it because my insurance insists it's same as others and wouldn't let me fill another type. Anyway, was put back on it, in this type of pain, I'll try try try. Now I'm getting it twice a day 13.5 mg ( equivalent to a 15mg) ...It gives me a headache and spaces me out and I can honestly say does not last 12 hours as it claims to. You can literally ( physically) feel it wear off within 8 hours and is crappy ! It is not , does not control my pain... Maybe it...

Just a question, I have Lumbar and Throic Spondolysis, and fracture in the some of the disc areas, we are not going to operate and the pain stays just gets more intense as time goes on. I have been on Vico 10/325 3 times a day and Neurtion 3 times a day, this helps but does not give me total comfort. Should I look for comfort? and is there a better combination I can tell my Dr at the pain center. Just wondering If anybody had a better suggestion. ## If this combination is working for you, for the most part, then you may want to talk to your doctor about adjusting one of them. You didn't say what dosage you are on of the Neurontin, but I know the Vicodin, which contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, is available with higher amounts of the Acetaminophen, that helps the efficacy of th...
