I have been to a neurologist and have tried every medicine he has prescribed. One he prescribed makes you feel high for 2 days so you can't sleep. That's no good! Another feels like your having a heart attack. There is a long list of others! The best results I have found are inj's. of nalbuphine/nubain. I can take the inj. and sleep for a couple of hours. Then I can participate with my family life. When I asked my neurologist about Nubain he said I would need to go to the the hospital, which is $1,200 a visit. (I pay my bills and want my credit to stay good) There are doctors that prescribed these inj's. at home. I have met some online and know one personally but not in my area. I want help!! It's sad to miss your daughters piano recital because you are suffering fro...

Motrin Migraine Pain Ibuprofen

Ibuprofen is a medication in the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) class that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation.[7] This includes painful menstrual periods, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis.[7] It may also be used to close a patent ductus arteriosus in a premature baby.[7] It can be used by mouth or intravenously.[7] It typically begins working within an hour.[7] Common side effects i...

Migraine headaches seem to be a trait in my family. My grandmother, mother, myself, and even my daughter...have all suffered from them, starting in early teen years. We have tried other meds but none completely stops the debilitating pain as Darvocet did. No, it did not stop or prevent the migraines but the pains were completely gone until the next dose was due...which allowed us to continue with life and work. With so many people the drug helped through the 50+ years on the market, why not bring it back with a heavy black box warnings? I feel bad for the handful of patients who died on it (though the Tylenol in it kills more a year) but for the many other people who used it without problems...why not bring it back? ## Unfortunately, the FDA deemed the Propoxyphene in Darvocet, and its ...

I have been taking it for 5 days twice a day starter pack for migraines and my side effects are nausea and headache/eye pain. Has anyone felt this way? When can ai expect side effects to go away? ## Hello, Lori! How are you? Yes, according to the FDA, those are known side effects to starting Vimpat, you may also experience dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision and heart burn. Generally, it takes about a month for your body to get used to a medication and for the side effects to start tapering off in severity. If they don't or if they get worse, you should speak to your doctor as you may need to try a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started 50 mg of Topamax a week ago for migraines. How soon should I start seeing results if it is going to help? So far, the only side effect I have had is some numbness in my feet/hands and carbonated beverages tasting a little different. I was also curious if anyone has had success with topamax helping generalized pain like back or joint pain? ## I was on it fot 4 months for migraine prevention. I had tingling feet off anf on with it. My concern now is that I have double vision from it. I was tsking 25mg/day. ## @Melli, According to a drug monograph for Topamax (topiramate), it may take up to several weeks to start seeing significant changes in your symptoms.. so you may just have to give it a little more time before you can really decide if this medication is even right for you. I have severe migraines I am currently taking 100 mcg of Duragesic patch changed every 48 hours and 5 10mg Vicodin. I have have bad reactions to preventative medications, chiropractic antidepressants and have built up a tolerance to pain meds. My pain is so severe I can't keep my food down. Does any one know if there is a higher dosage of Duragesic/Fentynal that would help with the pain. I am miserable and so sick I don't want to get up. ## Ask your doctor for vistaril it will cut that nausa down . It is both drugs giving you the nausea but you have to eat something .. Soup.. Canned broth ## Durgesic does come in higher doses. I've heard if 250 mcg. Be aware if you get a terminally ill disease such as cancer, this is what is used to treat it. Nothing stronger. ## I have canc...

Stopped taking lyrica and I thought since my dr told me it was non addictive i would be alright. I tried being intimate with my wife and all was ok until this massive pain in the back of my head stopped me in my tracks. I thought i would die. What can I do? ## Hello, Archie! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the headache. According the NIH, any time you experience a headache like that, you should seek emergency medical attention. There is a risk that it isn't due to stopping the medication. How much were you taking? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, chills, fever, diarrhea and rebound pain. Stopping it abruptly also creates the risk of seizures and there is a type of seizure that is commonly mistaken for a migraine, so that could be wh...

I'm seeing my pain doctor and psychiatrist this week to get on a proper pain regimen for debilitating fibromyalgia, severe insomnia with central sleep apnea, PTSD/anxiety from significant abuse I'm working through, chronic daily headaches (advanced migraines), and chronic pain from multiple surgeries (pelvic, back, neck...) Because my doctors don't collaborate I need to suggest options to them. I am sensitive to many medications and have tried a lot over the years. I want my life back. I'm smart and resourceful and at my wits end. I'm on low dose Seroquel for sleep - too much daytime sedation, as Ambien and Trazodone don't work. I'm also on Tramadol, Ativan and Skelaxin during the day. I can't drive, work or function well on this plan. Amitriptyline cause...

I'm taking Norco 10/325 & soma 350mg twice a day. They no longer work. I have cronic lymes disease 5 year's now. Pain & fatigue migraines & a whole bunch of symptoms. I need something stronger. I'm exhausted &can't work after 30 years in banking, I'm can't work anymore. What do you recommend for pain medication. I've done every thing thèy gave me to cure lymes nothing worked. I'm done. Just treat the pain. Help me! ## Percocet is slightly stronger. Fentanyl is a long term pain med without the highs and lows experienced with breakthrough drugs like Norco. Migraine meds, non narcotiv nerve meds like gabepentin, muscle relaxers like Valium, lots of choices! ## What M3sue has posted is correct, there are plenty of other options available....

I just recently started taking this for treating 6 to 8 migraines a month. I was using the max amount of meds every month for migraines and in constant pain and usually going in around every 3 to 4 months for a shot. If this sounds familiar you may want to try this drug. If was prescribed 25 mg. for a week which I have just made it though and now am on my second week of 50 mg. My biggest side effect is being tired. I am taking both pills at night instead of one in the morning and one at night. I am hoping to only have to take 50 mg, but we will see. So far so good, but I will up date on progress. ## I am addicted to Restyl since many years. I take 2 pills of 0.5mg every night. I also take Topamac 50 for migraine since last 4 months. Now since the last 7 days I decided to gradually reduc...

I have suffered for a long, long time the Evil, Painful, MIGRAINES. Back in the day, I was taken to the hospital to get a Demerol Shot. They don't use Demerol any more. as years went on I was taken to the hospital with migraine and was given some kind of medicine for my nausa, and my Migraine. I never stayed awake long enough to find out. Found out it was morphine. We move through the years and I've been Mexico where I had a Huge Migrain. My daring Husband ventured forth to find a Medication, in a strange country, only English language. He's my hero :) he came back with something called Neo-Melubrina (Metamizol sodico) suppositories. OMG! amazing med. No need to swallow anything if vomiting. I want to find some more of this product, but have been unsuccessful in our shopping...

Had migraine for 20y+, 3-4 attacks pm. Received a tip to take Arthrexin ,1 daily. No more migraine ! Seven months down the line. It's working like a charm ! But I want to know why ? It really changed my life ! Anyone out there had the same ecperience ? ## From what I could gather, Arthrexin (Indomethacin) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used as a prescription medication to reduce fever, pain, stiffness, and swelling. It has also been shown to be effective in migraine, both for prevention of migraine as well as treating the acute migraine attack. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, molecules known to cause these symptoms. This pharmacology may be what's attributing to the success of this medication. I've also come across several...

I get abdominal migraines, basically it’s a migraine in your stomach instead of your head and it’s absolutely horrible. It’s like a stabbing pain with nausea and vomiting, and also diarrhea. Should I try to put anything in my stomach it’s immediately rejected however my body can figure out how to do that and they last between one and three days. This medication aborted an episode, it took about four hours instead of the one hour it claims, but it actually worked. I could tell I was still in pain because I was kind of hunched over when I would walk and I would catch myself doing the stomach pain type of breathing, if you’ve had that kind of pain you know what I’m talking about. But I was detached, it was like I was observing pain but not feeling it. I ...

My wife has been on Brintellix/Trintellix for nearly a year now with great results. No other anti-depressant has been as effective in treating her symptoms. However, she has also suffered from migraines over the years, and she is not allowed to take the triptans that she used to take (Maxalt, etc.). Normally the Excedrin Migraine (acetaminophen, aspirin, caffeine) has been enough, but this most recent one was bad enough to require a trip to urgent care and a shot of a narcotic painkiller. Any suggestions on what migraine meds she can talk to her doctor about? ## Topamax, works awesome for me, it's cool once you get past the brain fog, and the weight loss. ## Hello, Patrick! How is your wife doing? Fioricet might also be another option to try, if her doctor approves. I didn't fin...

Hi. I get severe migraines during the rainy season ( I know, Seattle? Basically ALL the time...) I also have sciatica and it has become much more painful since having my twins. I am desperate for some relief. Thanks! ## Hello, Twinmomma! How are you doing? Sorry about the pain you're in and congratulations on the twins! As to a doctor for pain medications, due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require them on a long-term, ongoing basis, then you'll need to see a pain management specialist. General practitioners and surgeons have been severely restricted on what they can prescribed, how much they can prescribe, why they can prescribe it and how long they can prescribe it. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you somewhere? That would be the e...

I have severe pain in my back and migraines and I have a lot of severe spasms in my feet and legs that keep me up at night. Please advise whether ativan is used for pain? ## Ativan is a benzodizaepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders, though in some cases it can help with insomnia and preventing seizures. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Diana, No, Ativan (lorazepam) is an anti-anxiety agent. They are sometimes used as a muscle relaxant. They belong to a family of drugs commonly known as benzodiazepine's. This is a potent medication that carries a risk of abuse.
