I take morphine and dilaudid for chronic pain associated with my 9 hip surgeries and three car accidents I would like to take methadone for pain management instead of what I'm taking I live in Clearwater Florida ## Hello, Karen! How are you? I'm sorry about what you've been through. Why do you want to switch? Are the Morphine and Dilaudid working for you? Most doctors aren't going to want to prescribe Methadone, due it's extremely addictive nature. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## NO!! I'm uninsured, live 20mi east I4. I've used each of these. Right now methadone was the only thing I could get. I am in so much pain, I want to die! My usual scripts are duragesic 75...

I just moved from NYC to the Florida panhandled. I am having a difficult time finding a pain management doctor who will continue the meds I have been on for a broken back, failed spinal fusion. I take oxycondone and soma. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My other choice is to fly back to NY. Many thanks ## You will probably need to fly back to New York for now. However after a reasonable amount of time your out of state providers might cut you off and tell you to find a Doctor in your area ## I know this is older but just in case you're still looking...Dr. David Norfleet in crestview. They take insurance. He has no bedside manner and honestly I don't like him BUT after the first visit you see the NP and she is WONDERFUL! Very caring! The office staff is beyond rude....

Just moved to Melbourne Florida and my scripts are about out. Does anyone know of a doctor in area? I take Oxycotin 30mg and xanax x5 years with no issues. Thank you! ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see specialists. Both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and constipation. Having a PCP refer you to someone will most likely be the easiest way of finding the help you need. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?

My primary care physician said I need to start getting my medication from a pain management Doctor as he is not willing to prescribe for more than 2 months. Can anyone here refer me to a good doctor? I have tried a spinal inj. and had a moderate allergic reaction to it (hives, sweats, nausea). ## I need a good pain doctor in Orlando. I have a few bad disks and the national pain institute wasn't working for me. I was just someone to gain money off of. I travel for work often and it would be nice to have a script to get by, but long term I need to be fixed. Anyone have any suggestions that can help? ## I too had issues with NPI. Did you find another PM doctor that was able to help you?

I just moved to St Augustine, Florida and I am looking for a new pain management physician. I have been taking methadone for pain for about a year. After trying several other medications to treat RA and back issues, the methadone actually managed my pain well and I need to find a new pain management doctor who prescribes methadone for pain. I would be willing to travel to Jacksonville or surrounding areas. Any help is appreciated! ## No one can tell you what a new doctor will and won't prescribe. You need to call your insurance company and ask for a list of Pain Management Doctors in your area that take your insurance. Some pain management doctors also want you to be seeing a pcp. Chances are good you will need copies of your medical records from your previous doctors.

The pain clinic on 4941 E Busch Blvd suite 210 Tampa Florida is a wonderful clinic I have been with them for years. I get treated like I am a "REAL" patient. In addition to my pain management treatment I get treated for my other medical issues at no extra cost. This facility has a fabulous reputation and I am vouching for them personally. The MD's are board certified, he listens to you and takes care of your need. Call them at 813-988-8380 ## I visited the Pain Clinic and it was just us you said. I am in the process of looking for a New pain management Dr in the Gainesville, FL area that takes Avmed insurance and one that takes Prestige medicaid for my Mom. We had both been seeing same Dr for past 2 yrs and although I didn't like his obnoxious know it all attitude when you came prepared by doing your own research on your medical issues or new medication and in my case anything to help for my myofascial pain, he cuts everything down. But most recently he retaliated against my elderly Mom after we had all 3 decided on a plan of care. Then after a disagreement on a paper I brought in that would not harm my body if it failed or worked (all natural approach) he pulled two of my mom's meds and changed one. Wasn't even man enough to bring the scripts to her and tell her. Unles

Hello everyone! I had an MRI done in December of 2010 on my lower back and was treated with oxycontin 30mg and muscle relaxants from a clinic in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I did that for one month and the pain in my back was gone but I was afraid to get addicted so I stopped and have since been in progressively worse pain. Now for my question, I recently moved to the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) area in Florida and am looking to find a doctor who will honor my MRI (3 years old) and also not give me a hard time for prescribing the right pills that ease my pain. I unfortunately lost all the documentation from the Pain Management clinic in Fort Lauderdale about my condition and the place has since been closed. Can someone recommend a clinic for me within my area? I would highly appreciate it. I am...

Looking for a Dr in Manatee or Pinellas county FL for pain management and anxiety. I was taking Xanax 2mg and 80mg OC but my original doctor moved to the VA hospital. I'm on SSI and need help. ## Hello Butterfly2ite! How are you? Due to the new regulations set forth by the DEA last year, you'll actually need to see two different specialists to have such medications prescribed, one for pain management and the other a psychiatrist. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. The FDA lists Xanax as being a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache an...

I was in a car accident a while back, and broke my back in two places. I've been living in constant, sharp pain ever since, and it seems to have gotten worse recently. I live in central Florida, and am searching for a pain management doctor in my area. In the past, I have been prescribed methadone, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc. from my pain management doctor, but that has been several years ago, and I have moved since then. Can anyone help me out my pain management in Miami Fl has lost his license and can no longer see patients. Can anyone help me I need a new pm in Miami or Ft Lauderdale that accepts out of state patients im from Columbus oh please email me at {edited for privacy} with info ## Hello, Doug! How are you? I'm sorry, but due to the forced enforcement of old regulations and the implementation of new ones, you aren't likely going to find one that will take out of state patients…. and if you did, it would be virtually impossible to find a pharmacy that would fill such prescriptions, because they almost all require that the patient and doctor all live within a certain radius of the pharmacy. Why haven't you just established residency there? ## To Veron thank you so much I found ...

Can someone please tell me a doctor in the area who will treat my chronic pain? i do not have insurance and can no longer work due to my physical problems, my pain dr is too expensive and to far away. I am trying to find someone close who may possibly give me refills on my norco until i get disability and insurance. PLEASE HELP ## Hi, rk! I understand your dilemma due to the distance and expense, but I have to be honest and say that for now, you're likely better off staying with the doctor you already have. Due to the fact that not having insurance makes it harder to track someone, most pain management specialists will not treat an uninsured person and many pharmacies will not fill such prescriptions for them. There is too big of chance that there person could be doctor and pharmacy...

The Methadone is also very strong. And yes, it is also true that Medicaid does not cover some medications, such as the time released Oxycodone, due to the problems with abuse and diversion of it.
