I was wheelchair-bound & in constant, horrific pain for eight years despite 2 lumbar surgeries & a C-spine surgery. After my last lumbar surgery, a year in a nursing home with an excellent physical therapist and the right medication my pain was under control...I could finally get out of bed after 8 yrs, walk a half mile, live a relatively normal life...I was even considering a part-time job eventually. My doctor had a stoke and was prescribing me 30 mg a day of methadone for a chronic pain syndrome..I am a 51 yr old that has never abused drugs!! I have a very bad neck injury and I'm taking 4 x 10mg oxycodone a day for pain. I've moved to Springfield recently and all of the doctors offices tell me "Oh, our policy is never to prescribe narcotics."
