Hi everyone. I'm 57 yrs old and have bad back pain my pm Doctor is upfront with me when he says he's afraid of going to jail for writing 3o mg oxycodone. I'm stunned when I see how much money my ins co pays him for all the shots he gives me each month. He has no problem cashing the cheques and doesn't care that they have no effect on my body- as long as his business profits and he has no exposure to the DEA. I am taking 60mg of methadone a day for pain management, given to me by a rheumatologist in Pa. We are moving to NJ. Will it be hard to find a doctor in NJ that will prescribe it for me there? I was in a car accident and had a head injury and my migraines started. They have been on and off all my life and started up again when I get cancer and was given chemo with facial in it. My migraines started up again and were so severe I was going to stop all chemo. They thought I was going to die and assigned me a palliative care pain management doctor. The Drug Enforcement Agency is making it very hard on doctors to prescribe pain medicine such as oxycodone, oxycontin, percocet and even hydrocodone. They have set new rules that go into effect May of 2016, that's this month. Unless you have a serious condition and have been on these meds for the treatment of your pain it will no longer be easy peasy getting the appropriate pain relief you need from a general practitioner... You also may run into a problem if you are trying to get them to prescribe a specific medication. Most doctors will be reluctant to do so, because when someone asks for a specific medication, especially a controlled substance, they consider it to be drug seeking behavior.
