I have been taking Oxycodone for 3 years for my herniated disk in my upper back. I usually have been getting the ALV 196 (5mg) blue tablets but I can no longer find them at any pharmacy in Ohio where I live. The only brands that work for me are the ALV 196 or the IP 203 tablets. I have been on Oxycontin for 3 years. I am not stupid, I did not ask the doc to keep increasing my meds, I would decide to stop taking them for a two week on and two week off if I could. I am in chronic pain,my life has been altered to the degree I cannot walk without assistance any distance. I do walk into a store that has carts to push. Two back surgeries, the type of back that just keeps getting worse, had I not had the surgery I think I could have controlled the pain with Vicodan and Advil. OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. I'm currently taking 100mg of oxycodoe a day (20mg via percocet and 80mg via oxycontin) as well as 200mg daily of tramadol. I'm taking these as prescribed for chronic pain. My concern is, that after almost 2 years of being on these pain meds with the dosage increasing as my tolerance builds over time, if the Dr's are able to fix what is causing my pain, are there meds that will help ween me off the oxy? I'm terrified of the withdrawls. My second concern is, if they can't fix what is wrong, are there alternative meds for the pain? I can't imagine increasing the doses forever. These pills suck! They are nothing like the old ones ## Hi LadyM, Sorry to hear about your experience with those Oxycodone pills. From what I understand, because each pill is manufactured by a different company, not only is there going to be a slight variation of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers), but also if the medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient as well. For some people, these subtle differences are the equivalent of taking a completely different medication that may be absorbed and metabolized differently within your body (usually resulting in an increased or decreased potency). As from what I can tell, no one else on this site has come across anything like it in other related threads. The OX 20 imprint just seems like a fake in my opinion, based on NIH.gov depictions of how 20mg Oxycontin should look if it was actually a legitimate Oxycontin pill. Real 20mg Oxycontin's by Purdue Pharmaceuticals are, like you said, marked with OC 20 or OP 20. What color does 20mg roxy come in? ## The tablet you mentioned with the A 215 marking should be light blue and it contains 30mgs of Oxycodone, it is a generic for Roxicodone.
