Why do so many people want to abuse OxyContin leaving those of us who actually prescribed it for pain on the edge? ## I KNOW ITS SO UNFAIR PEOPLE THAT ABUSE OXYCONTIN MAKE IT HARD FOR PEOPLE THAT HONESTLY NEED IT FOR CHRONIC PAIN. What does HCI mean on OxyContin packet . ## HCL stands for hydrochloride, it just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from. It's basically all Oxycodone HCL. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. This tablet does contain 30mgs of Oxycodone, but it is not time released, it is a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. I took my first Oxy 60 OP. It did not work well...reminded me of the generic ones a few years ago. is there a way to take out the filler ## No, the new Oxycontin OP has been specifically designed to prevent people from doing just that. They are trying to curtail abuse of the medication. It is, however, still supposed to work the same and can cause the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Got my script filled a few days and didn't notice til today that they're OPs. I've also been sick for the past few days - Do OPs make anyone else sick? Lightheaded, dizzy, sleepy, nauseous, flu-like, can't function. I have oxycontin 15 mg for cancer pain. Finding it difficult to determine how much is released into the bloodstream at intervals. Does it 'peak' at a certain time? Or, once it breaks down inside the body, is it an even release throughout the 12 hours? I'm imagining it is like taking 5 mg of oxycodone every 4 hours. Correct? Thanks! ## Hello, Matronum! this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. I bet they will be pulled & back to the old ones before the year is out ## Pharmacies are allowed to continue to dispense the original product, until their stocks runs out, then all will only be able to get the new Oxycontin OP. I have been on OxyContin 60 mg. 3 time'sa day for about 6 or 7 year's. It woked GREAT. I have gotten 3 refill's of the NEW OxyContin they are not the same, they do not work as the old ones did, they do not last as long, it takes longer to take ANY kind of effect, I have went to the doctor, he does not want to change any thing, I called Purdu to find out how to get the old one's back, some one said if op is on the pill instead of oc it would be equal to the old one's. How Long Does It Take To Kick in? ## Hi Crps sucks, it shouldn't take any longer than 15-30 minutes. Unless u have a tolerance 2 them. Then it could take a little longer. Have u taken them b 4? Or on a regular basis? ## From what I've read online, 15 to 30 minutes is a good rough estimate... Although timing can also vary some depending on your own body, as well as if you've recently eaten something. I'd also like to add that the maximum/peak concentration of oxycontin is generally found in the bloodstream at about one hour after ingestion. Keeping in mind that this is a time-released formula, it probably won't have much of an immediate effect like the standard oxycodone would, if you're used to having those. I hope this helps!
