Can anyone help me understand these OPs? The whole pill is plastic, right? I mean, unlike MS Contins where the coating is time released. So my question is-If the whole thing is a solid time release pill, why can’t I cut it in half? I am not trying to abuse it. My doctor made me switch from 5mg instant relase oxycodone to 10 mg oxycontin and it’s way too strong. It makes me feel sick and way too medicated to drive. I am taking these so I can have a life, not another car accident. So I would like to reduce the dose but it says not to cut them & I am not sure that is applicable to the plastic pills. ## According to medical literature, "extended/time-release" pills are not intended to be cut in half because it can release the full contents of the pill all at once (ri...

Im perscribed OC 40 mg. with the OP on the market the OC became the generic Oxycodone 40 mg. The question is there is Oxycontin 40 mg in capsules. Basicly is that equal to the Oxycodone 40 without the buffer in it ## There is no generic for Oxycontin, both the one with the OC and the one with the OP marking are made by Purdue, they just reformulated to help prevent abuse and discontinued manufacturing the original that had the OC marking. Oxycontin contains Oxycodone in a time released formulation. As to the other formulations, no, there is none available in a 40mg dosage. The immediate release capsule is only available in a 5mg dosage and the regular release tablets are only available in a maximum dosage of 30mgs. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just switched over from oxy 30mg instant release 6x daily to oxycontin 60mg with 2 30mg IR for breakthrough. Been on this for a long time. I find that I'm very disappointed with the oxycontin 60 it seems to only last 5 hours at the most and I have many breakthrough pains during that period of time. I've heard of oxymorphone ER and want to know if this would be better for me due to opioid tolerance. If anybody can give me opinions on this please do. Thanks. ## First off, the 30mg that you're taking cannot be instant release tablets, the instant release is only available in a 5mg capsule. If you're taking 30mg tablets, then they have to be the regular release formulation, which is a generic for Roxicodone. Learn more Roxicodone details here. And the Oxycontin just doesn...

Whats the difference between exalgo and opana and oxycontin? ## Hello, Dana! How are you? As listed by the FDA, all 3 of these narcotics contain a different active ingredient. Exalgo contains a time released formulation of Hydromorphone. Opana contains Oxymorphone and Oxycontin contains Oxycodone in a time released formulation. All are narcotics that carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Out of the 3, Exalgo is the strongest, next would be Opana, then Oxycontin. To give you a comparison, for each 5mg of Oxycontin, you'd only need 2.5mgs of Opana to be equivalent and 1.88mgs of Exalgo. Is there anything else I can help with?

light blue round oxy 5 on one side and on the other looks like a p within a circle ## small round white pill with letter m on front and 05 52 on back ## I have this round white pill. On on side P within a circle is imprinted on it. On the other side there is M on the top. Then a line across the middle and a 10 below. What kind of drug is this? ## It is a oxycontin 10mg ## The tablet with the M 0552 contains 5mgs of Oxycodone, in a regular release formulation, it is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Oxycodone details here. However, the other one with the logo of a p in a circle and the M 10 on the opposite side I'm finding listed as ...

Hello- I've been taking Oxycontin slow release 5mg twice a day for 4 weeks post op. I want to get off them ASAP as I'm scared of becoming reliant. Do I need to see my GP to wean off or is it ok to just stop? Thanks! ## Hello, Olivia! How are you? You haven't been taking a very high dose, so withdrawals would likely be minimal and may include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, diarrhea and rebound pain, according to the U.S. FDA. However yes, it would be best to slowly taper off, though after only being on them for 4 weeks, that isn't likely to be a long process. Speaking to your doctor about it would help ensure that you do so as safely as possible. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi..... Thank you so much for your reply. I spoke to my Pharmacist and they said ...

I am wondering if dilaudid is stronger than oxycontin? morphine? norco? norco 10/325? liquid 40ml norco 2.5mg/5ml? ## Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone. That said, it is a potent narcotic, and what it is stronger than depends on the dosage of each. It is not stronger than most dosages of Oxycodone, but is stronger than some. Oxycodone is the strongest product on the market approved to treat pain. Whether it is stronger than the others also depends on what dose of the Dilaudid you're asking about. Was this prescribed for you? You can read more about it here: ## Actually, Opana (oxymorphone) is about 2 to 3 times stronger than oxycodone, or contin. I went from a oxy 30mg ER to an Opana 10mg and have had the best results as far as pain relief. ## can you list the le...

Does anyone know the difference between Roxicontin (Roxycontin) and Oxycontin? ## The correct drug names are Oxycontin and Roxicodone, they both contain the narcotic Oxycodone, but Oxycontin is an extended release formulation that is taken every 12 hours and Roxicodone is a regular release formulation. ## As far as ROXYCONTIN or ROXICODONE, what are the different milligrams that are available? I know of 15 & 30. Is there a 80 milligram ROXICONTIN? ## Do oxycontin and roxicontin come up as the same substance on a U/A? ## Yes, Jen, since they both contain the narcotic Oxycodone, they will both come up as an opiate on a drug panel. Oliver, no, there is no 80mgs of Roxicodone, it is only available 5mgs, 15mgs and 30mg tablets. ## Is the round light blue pill with M on front and scored o...

I would like to chime in here. If all possible do not take oxycontin er. I have been on them for 7 years now. I was taking Norco for a muscle disease I got for chemicals when I was in the army. I had a heart attack later on and my doctor at the time said I had to take these OXY. That it was safer if I knew what I know know I would have punched him in the mouth. I was on 140 mg er. I am now chemically dependant on them. It's miserable up and down wake up in the morning in full blown withdrawals. I have been self tapering myself off of them. This is a very very miserable. I am now down to 10 mg 3 times a day. Getting ready to go to ir's. I dropped 10mg ever couple of weeks to get here. I will never take another opiate when I can get off. If you are in my boat I am here to say you ...

Oxycontin 5mg. Verses oxybutynin5 mg.IS THIS THE SAME DRUG? ## Hi tammy, Based on my research, Oxybutynin is an anticholinergic medication used to relieve urinary and bladder difficulties, including frequent urination, and inability to control urination (urge incontinence)- by decreasing muscle spasms of the bladder. Oxycontin, also known as Oxycodone, is a strong narcotic analgesic used to relieve moderate to severe pain. With that being said, the answer to your question is no-Oxycontin and Oxybutynin are not the same. heard they stopped making opanas? 2/21/12 has anyone heard this? starting to panic!!!!!!!!!! ## Yes Opana is discontinued ## Actually no, there is not listing with the U.S. FDA saying that this medication has been discontinued, although two of the strengths of the name brand, the 7.5mg and the 15mg were discontinued as of the Spring of last year. Does anyone have an actual government information website showing otherwise? ## The story in NY is that they have o investigate why the opana got into the excedrin bottles in the first place. Vey where I go they says the ops as no matter what strength are on back order. I don't know how they are going to pump out enough to fill an entire country. My doc changed me to OxyContin 80 and oxycodone 30 for now which I think will be for a long tim...

5mg oxycotin k 18 on one side an blank on the other. Small white round pill. ## I don't have a picture to post for you, due to copyright reasons. This is not actually an Oxycontin tablet, those are only available as the name brand and would have the OC or OP marking on them, with the number designating the dosage on the opposite side. This time released formulation is also not available in a 5mg dosage. The tablet you have, does contain 5mgs of Oxycodone, but it is the regular release tablet, which is the generic for Roxicodone. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

what color do these pills look like? ## There is no 60mg of the instant release Oxycodone, it is only available in 5mgs. There is a time released tablet in 60mgs, called Oxycontin, which would have the marking OC or OP on one side and a 60 on the opposite side. The tablets should be red. This is a potent narcotic, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## there is oxycontin 30mg instant release but that is as high as instant release goes. ## oxycodone does not just come in 5mgs. What is this? I was told it was a 20mg "opana"? Some kind of pain pill..similar to oxycodone or oxycontin? Please help before I take it. It has a light yellow coating. Is it for pain? ## Hello, Julia! How are you? No, this tablet contains 0.5mgs of Ropinirole, which is used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and RLS. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, hallucinations and sudden daytime sleep attacks. So no, it will not do anything to alleviate pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm willing to travel anywhere in ohio for a good doc. thanks

Oxycodone or Oxycontin is this time released? Or immediate release? ## There are no generic formulations available of Oxycontin, there are only generics available of the instant release and the regular release. Additionally, the instant release is only available in 5mg capsules. Thus, if you have a tablet that does not have the OP marking and it is from the U.S., then it is fairly safe to assume that's most likely a regular release tablet. This one is a generic for Roxicodone, which is a name brand for the regular release formulation and it contains 20mgs of Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Where did you find it? ## Verwon, I was reading your response to Kiki, and I have a question for you. What is the difference between Oxycodone and Oxycotin? ## Hi Susie, I sort of st...

I recently, had my med changed from vicodin 7.5mg 5xqd to lortab 10-500mg tablet. 5xqd question is, "Is the lortab a higher dose of medication than the vicodin. ## Lortab and Vicodin both contain Hydrocodone, a synthetic opiate or opioid, as their narcotic analgesic. As such, your dosage strength increase is only in the amount of pills you are now taking, not in the opioid ingredient. Oxycodone, used in Percocets and OxyContin, is slightly stronger . . . a 5/325 Perc is equivalent to a 7.5 Lortab. I am not gonna go into the added NSAIDs like THVQEDylenol, ASAP, or aspirin on this question. The best of luck and the least of pain to you . . . I really need some advice here. I am a cancer patient with a rare tumor. I have taken OxyContin 60MG and OxyCodone 5MG for breakthrough for over 10 years. My DR and I agree it is time to try other medications as I need more pain relief. I do not yet know how many MG he will prescribe for any of these medications. I realize that it would be easier to help answer my questions but any input in general I appreciate. He has given me 3 different meds to choose from: Ms Contin , Morphine & Methadone. Hoping to get others opinions on these. Whether it's regarding pain relief, side effects, etc. Whether it's just about the medication or about in comparison to my current pain meds. I think he will keep me on the 5mg Oxycodone for breakthroughs ( although not positive. ) ANY and ALL th...
