80 mg op received this month. What the heck is purdue doing to me my stomach hurts, my pain is almost all they way back. I'm in agony. Why don't they take whiskey off the shelves and make them put plastic in it. It takes 3 hours for it to work if it does? I've had a headache also. They lost my almost $1500 a month and need something for pain. My PM doc changed my med to oxycontin 15 mg every 12 hour with oxycodone 5 mg every 8 if needed. Not working great. Only gave me 2 week supply with appt.As opposed to the usisland 30 day no appt. At the end of the 2 werks. I been on all types of opiates and in some cases really high doses. now I'm back down to a reasonable dose of pain meds long acting oxy an 15mg 4aday Roxy ir for breakthrough. I'm supposed to have it in my system around the clock so the oxy 12hr med is not working at all it seems to me. I'm not a junkie so I have not ever been on the Actiq any mcg fentanyl lollipops an I see ppl saying how 1pop can last them on an off for a day but I'd like to switch the 2 20mg oxycontin for an equal amount of the say 400mcg lollipops an the 4oxycodone 15mg that do help my pain an get me through my day. I am currently taking oxycontin 40 mg and I going from a private insurance plan to a Humana PPO Medicare advantage plan and they don't cover it. Some of the other option they recommend from humana was Methadone, Hydromorphone, Codeine Sulfate, Fentanyal Patch, Morphine, and oxycodone IR. I know Oxycodone is the same active ingredient oxycontin but I also take Oxycodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. It helps somewhat but it does help enough. My good day after taking the medicine and having my spinal cord stimulation implant device on is a 5 but an avg. day is 7.5. To give you a idea what a five to me is I broke both of my arms with one bone poking through was a 5.5 and that is a good day for me. My doctor is very hard to get him to increase my dose. Just prescribed Oxycontin op 20 for the first time for chronic lower back pain from two bulging disks that are inflamming S1 and causing severe pain. I've been takng hydrocdone 10-325 for the past 5 years or so along with the injecions. I just took my first dose of Oxycontin op 20 and about 10 -15 minutes after ingesting my heart rate increased tremendously and was pounding through my chest. This lasted about 5 minutes then would return with less severity every 10-15 minutes later for about the next hour. Is this normal? Breathing was ok and I never felt I was going to pass out. I just had to switch from 2 x 80mg OxyContin ERs a day, to 2 x 40mg Opana ERs with 3 x 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain. The Opana doesn't seem to be working as well. Does anybody know why that is? ## Why did you have to switch? It may just be that it's not the right medication for you, not every medication works for everyone that tries it. I took oxycontin and oxycodone for 6 years... stopped cold turkey, cause i lost my job and insurance..........first month sucked real bad, but now i am ok. By all means, if you are in serious pain, take a narcotic! Nothing else even comes close to the results of a narcotic pain reliever. DO NOT!... I REPEAT.....DO NOT listen to all the hype and yackety yack every little dip wad spouts off about the big bad opiates. My PM MD just prescribed Oxycontin 15mg 3x to replace the too-many hydro & oxycodone pills I've been taking for severe back/hip pain. Just saw a UM surgeon who says surgery is not an option; its scoliosis and arthritis. 20mg Oxycontin OP doesn't seem to work as well for me. I take it 3 times a day with 15mg oxycodone breakthru. Can anyone suggest a replacement for the 20mg's. Would a 15mg oxycodone and a 5 mg oxycodone work as well. Generally the regular formulations have to be taken 3 to 4 times a day, as opposed to the every 12 hours that you take Oxycontin. I've been on the OxyContin 40mg 1 tab 3x day for about 15 yrs. 3 years ago my insurance took it off their Formulary list. 1st Year my doctor got the insurance to approve it. Last year I was put on the Opana which made me sick, throwing up every time I took it. The insurance approved me again to the OxyContin.
