Oxycontin Is There A Generic For This

The cost is way too high. I though generic oxycontin was coming back. Does anyone have an update? ## Hi, Marty! No, there isn't a generic and under the current regulations there won't be one any time soon. Since it is such a highly abused medication that has an extremely high rate of addiction, theft and diversion, the generics were removed from the market to help keep better control of the supply. If there is only one manufacturer, then it is much easier to know exactly how much has been manufactured, where it's being stored, where it's being shipped and etc. If you need a cheaper medication for pain control that is still time released, you may want to ask your doctor about trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine and there are generics of it avai...

my dr prescibed oxymorphone er 60 mg. and oxymorphone ir 5 mg. I was able to purchase the ir tablets in generic (but they cost about 50.00 more than the oxycodone ir 20 mg. that I was taking before he switched my meds) I was not able to get the oxymorphone er 60 mg. in generic form. Are these manufactured in the U.S (2014)? The brand name was Opana, which ended up costing me around 450.00 for 60 pills. This is OUTRAGEOUS!! I am a woman, of only 58 yrs.old. I'm on disibility from back injuries from about 20-25 yrs. ago and I also have C.O.P.D. Because of this I'm on a very low income, but not quite low enough to get "The Extra Help" that is avaiable to people who didn't work very much. Because of that they"re disibility pymts. are a bit smaller than mine, therefor...

Greetings! Just returned from my regular pharmacy where I have been getting my O.C. 80's for years. Today my pharmacist told me that there is now a generic for my Oxy. She told me that because of the cost difference my insurance co. is demanding that I get the generic but the store won't have the generic in stock fot two to three days. This sounds fishy as I have not heard anything about a generic O.C. Has anyone else run into anything like this? Thanks.....Dennis ## Hello, Dennis! How are you? I know originally, they did away with the generics, due to the fact that there were far too many on the market and it made it hard to keep track of the supply to prevent theft and diversion. However, from what I'm currently reading generics have been recently approved from Actavis and...

pinkish-mauve in color with a single line marking it in half, alittle smaller and thinner than an 80 mg oxycontin ## I cannot tell you anything about it unless you provide the markings from the tablet, that is what identifies it, not the size and color. Can you please post back with this information? ## There are NO other markings except the line down the middle on one side of the pill.

WHERE CAN I GET ABG 20 MG OXYCOTIN IN COLUMBUS OHIO ## We have no way of knowing what any given pharmacy has in stock, at any given time. That said, there are also no more generics for Oxycontin available on the U.S. market. There is only one manufacturer now and that is for the name brand Oxycontin from Purdue Pharma. Due to the fact that this medication has such a high rate of theft and diversion, this was done to enable the appropriate authorities to keep better track of the supply and where it's going. Are there any other questions or comments?

Round, Thick, Blue pill with capital 'S' on both sides. ## Sounds like a 25 mg Sominex, which is a light blue with a large S on each side of it. ## I need the company name that makes 40mg oxycontin but NOT PERDU PHARMA CAUSE THEY SUCKS ## At this time, there are no generic version of Oxycontin available. The only time released formulation approved in the U.S. is the original name brand manufactured by Purdue Pharma. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. And there is no generic with an S on both sides. Badback, what types of problems did you have with the name brand?

where in New Jersey are they still supplying ethex generic oxcontin? ## I'm sorry, but the Oxycontin provided by Ethex is not a generic, they are simply a distributor for Purdue, so it is the same product. There are no other manufacturers that currently make a time released formulation of Oxycodone. Side effects are said to remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. need to know what legit pharmacies are still carrying Oxycontin 40 mg Genrics in central coast california ## There is no generic Oxycontin, anywhere in the U.S. There are some provided by Ethex, however, they are just licensed distributors for Purdue and the stuff you get that has their name on it is the same stuff manufactured by Purdue. For awhile, they have still had a supply of the original Oxycontin OC, however, since Purdue has discontinued it, once their supply is exhausted, Ethex will also only be able to provide the new Oxycontin OP. I realize many people are unhappy about this change, there have been many reports that the new Oxycontin OP does not work as well as the original and that is caused odd side effects, however, the fact of the matter is that soon, no one will be able...

we have been seeing the original oc 80's around here and was wondering if they are coming back already or if they oc's are replaced with the op's???? ## No, they aren't coming back, however there are many still on the street, due to all the theft and diversion that occurred, plus any pharmacies and hospitals can still provide or sell them, until they run out of stock. Ethex is also a licensed distributor for Purdue and from what I have read in various posts, they have still had a stock of the original Oxycontin product. On the current supply runs out, everyone will be forced to switch to the new product. Are there any other questions or comments? ## where do you live? ## this guy has no clue what he is talkin about. the real ones are coming back.. my father was gettin th...

pharmacy orders my oxy continue 80mg with no gel or any other harm reduction additives in it what are the names of different suppliers they have the choice of using that now produce the generic with out gel . Recall filled my new Rx from Pms and they contained gel.one side said 80 the other a p. where do they order the correct ones from in Ontario Canada as they seem very confused? ## Every pharmacy is going to have different suppliers based on located, availability, supply and demand, etc. So if you have a specific pharmacy in mind that you regularly visit, it would probably be best to get a proper list from them directly. My suggestion would be to take note of the particular pill that you're interested in and write down the imprint on the pill along with the color, shape, and a ro...

Does anyone know when Sandoz or apotex will be realising generic oxycontin in Australia? Any feedback would be much appreciated ## Checkout chemist warehouse web inventory they have sandoz, it's says oxycodone not oxycontin tho... Are they the ssme? Same strengths tho. Anyone know? ## Sandoz has released a generic version of oxycontin in Australia and is now on pharmacy shelves check with your pharmacy as to what its called however if you have a script for oxycontin as with all drugs you should automatically be asked if you would prefer the generic version ## Oxycodone is an IR form where as oxycontin is a modafield or controlled realease form of oxycodone so obviously they are going to be different strengths. A 20mg oxycontin tablet is designed to release its active ingredient oxyc...

Are there any generic forms of Oxycontin, the OC type, in any dosage? I remember that a while ago there were some generics out for this medication, but it seems like they have all disappeared. ## Yes, they have all been removed from the market, due to the ever increasing amounts of abuse, theft and diversion. The time released formulation of Oxycodone is now only available in the name brand Oxycontin, manufactured by Purdue Pharma. The basic idea was that if it's only made by one manufacturer, then it makes it much easier to keep track of the supply and prevent theft and diversion. However, there are other formulations of Oxycodone, which are available as both name brands and generics. There is an immediate release formulation, the name brand for it would be OxyIR and there is a reg...

I've been on Oxycontin for at least 10 or 12 years. I've always taken generic. Now I have to pay out of pocket $4500.00 a year for brand name because I can't get the generics. Does ANYONE know if generics are coming back? I still haven't paid off last years loan . I'll have to borrow again. I have had surgery again this year. Nearly died. (was in intensive care for 9 days. Drs. tried to give me moraphine. I have later stage COPD, my breathing got so bad. They called my family in because they thought I was going to die. They said they couldn't control my pain. I was blacked out. Don't remember anything. But they finally gave me oxycontin and I got better. I'm alive. But I am in so much pain I don't know if that's good or not. I can't afford any...

I've seen several websights selling what they say is Oxycodone, are they generic or what? Most if not all are in some other country. ## Oxycontin is oxycotin, there is NO generic. Believe me I have asked many pharmacy's. The new ones, thanks to our junkies out there, don't work! Now I get to be in pain 24/7. And please don't reply about subsititues, I have liver disease so I am very limited to any other drugs out there. Unless they go back (and they don't intend to) this is what we have been dealt. ## Check again Wtran1.....the real thing is still out there only sold by Ethex Pharm. As far as I could find out they are still in business. ## As to foreign pharmacies, yes. they can have a generic. The U.S. cannot enforce proprietary patents outside of our borders, so co...

I found a pill with M in a box on one side and 595 on the other side. I found it in my sister's room and she used to do Oxycontins and quit, as far as I know. Could this be a generic 40mg Oxycontin? It looks exactly like it but has different numbers. I appreciate any help, thank you. ## To prevent future confusion, I have removed the incorrect post. This tablet contains 40mgs of Oxycodone CR, a generic for Oxycontin. This is a narcotic pain reliever. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness and constipation. ## Hello Brad If you were worried about your 'sisters' Oxycontin use, it is best to ask your sister directly if she is still taking them, & if her doctor is aware? Take good care, and remember that Oxycontin medication use can be ve...

cannot find 80mg oxycontins. The new ones get me sick.(OP)s Do you have the generic available? ## First, this is an information only website, we do no manufacture, now sell anything. And second there is no generic of Oxycontin available on the market, any longer. All Oxycontin tablets that are on the market are manufactured by Purdue, using the same process and fomulation, which is why they also have the same markings. Even the ones provided by Ethex, if you were to find them at a pharmacy, are manufactured by Purdue and have the same markings, they are just a licensed distributor for Purdue. As long as they still had a supply of the original Oxycontin with the OC marking, they were allowed to continue to sell them, however, once they ran out, they also had no choice, but to distribute t...

what pharmacy carries ethex brand generic oxycontin? ## There is no generic Oxycontin, to prevent abuse and diversion, Oxycontin is only available as the brand name made by Purdue. Ethex does make a generic of the regular release formulation, the name brand for it would be Roxicodone. It contains the same active ingredient, but it is not time released and it is not available in an 80mg dosage. Do you have any questions? ## i didn't ask if it exists or not,,,IT EXISTS. ethex is paying royalties to purdue to distribute the old formula of ocs. apotex is doing the same thing, i'm wondering where BESIDES WALGREENS can you get these GENERIC OXYS? THAT IS THE QUESTION. THEY DO EXIST AND THEY ARE ONLY $10.41 EACH. THEY ARE NOT LEFT OVER. THE PATENT EXPIRED ON THE 20'S, 40'S AND ...

There are new-generic 2017 Oxycontin now. My pharmacy filled my script with generic because they thought my Dr. Did not write "no substitution" he did by checking the "no substitution" box so they had to unfill & refill with OP's, not knowing what they are like, I did not want the generic. What do the 80 mg tablets look like? Do they work as well as the OP's? Who is the manufacturer? ## There is no generic Oxycontin currently available on the U.S. market.
