Is there a chart or bell curve to show how fast, and how long 30mg Oxycontin pain pills provide relief ? There must be some way to determine how much pain relief I should be getting from this one pain pill lasting 12 hours, and when. Certainly no one is getting a full 30mg. of this pain medicine for the full 12 hours. Can you help me understand why I need to take (1) or (2) 5mg Oxycodone pain pills 2 or 3 times a day until the second Oxycontin is due? I have very severe pain from Post Polio Syndrome, and my Doctors know very little of the etiology of this condition, nor just how bad this pain is 24/7 It's been 60 years since my original bout with childhood polio, and 24 years now since PPS came knocking on my door. I am having a hard time getting my presciption filled they says they are either out of medicine or they are discontinuing it.Does anyone know where they carry them.I've been out for a few days and I am in alot of pain (chronic) Just had a knee replacement and my other leg is in need for another surgery. ## Can you post back with at least your general location? I have been prescribed oxycontin 15mg 60/30. Can anyone tell me what the 60/30 means ## That is directing the pharmacy that it should be a 30 day supply, so 2 pills a day, making the total quantity 60. This tablet does contain 30mgs of Oxycodone, but it is not time released, it is a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. If I take 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone and I have the 60 mg oxycontin. Can you cut a 60 mg oxycontin in half and take it that way to get the immediate effect you get with taking 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone. I have to mail order my medications and there was a mix up and I have been taking for 15 years for chronic pain. There is no roxicontin its roxicodone 5, 10,15 and 30mg. Then they have oxyir, oxycodone. Those are instant release! ## You are correct, the actual name of the medication is Oxycontin and it contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone. How Long Does It Take To Kick in? ## Hi Crps sucks, it shouldn't take any longer than 15-30 minutes. Unless u have a tolerance 2 them. Then it could take a little longer. Have u taken them b 4? Or on a regular basis? ## From what I've read online, 15 to 30 minutes is a good rough estimate... Although timing can also vary some depending on your own body, as well as if you've recently eaten something. I'd also like to add that the maximum/peak concentration of oxycontin is generally found in the bloodstream at about one hour after ingestion. Keeping in mind that this is a time-released formula, it probably won't have much of an immediate effect like the standard oxycodone would, if you're used to having those. I hope this helps! Good luck!! ## A slow taper is usually best. However, the problem is that these are time released, so you can't cut or break them. How many do take each day? Have you consulted a medical professional for assistance? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and diarrhea.

Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, Oxycontin contains Oxycodone hydrochloride. From what I've read, some have had more success with Opana for pain and some have had more success with Oxycontin. They are both meant to help with pain, but I do believe that Opana is stronger. I take 160mill of oxycotin 2 times a day and roxi 30 mill every 3 hours for breakthrough pain. What is the difference in the meds? Also I have the generic oxycontin, 80 mill is it different than the brand name? I ask because they dont seem to effect me like the oxys I recived in the hosbital. OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. what color is a oxycontin 30 mg. ## The new ones should be marked OP 30 and they should be brown, the same as the original OC 30 was, Purdue has kept them the same colors. Note: This only applies to Oxycontin. If what you have is some other formulation, then it can be any color the manufacturer wants it to be and only the markings on the tablet will enable us to figure out what it is.
