Please help! I've been taking oxycodone 60mg for 6 months after being backed over by a four wheel drive. I want to go cold turkey asap but am scared as I've heard it's painful and horrible. Can anybody help me with past experiences? I need to know what I'm in for and what I will feel and for how long? HELP!!! ## I dont want to get any sub or the like. If Im not off this crap really soon my ex wont let me see my son. Long story. I need to know how to do it at home, like tomorrow? It's only 80mg. It can't be that bad, can it? Please help me! I'm from Brisbane Qld, Aust. ## Margie, are you prescribed these opiates that you are taking because if so your b/f cannot take away your son. Now, on the other hand, if you are using 80 mg of I'm guessing oxycontin, it...

I've been on Oxycodone for 7 years. 5 mg 2 to 3 times a day (sometimes 4 times a day on a bad pain day) I've never been without them. I had shoulder and back issues which caused a pain doctor to put me on them. My job changed 2 years ago to where I shouldn't need these meds as I don't do anything labor intensive anymore. I'm still on them. My doctor said stopping shouldn't be an issue, just taper from 3 a day to 2 then to 1 and then 1/2 but I find myself going through sweats and sickness when I take just 1 a day. Looking at the clock to see when it's been 24 hours so I can have another one. Pain aside, the sweats, running to the toilet and the creepy crawly feeling on my skin as if I am going to go insane. What should I do? Should I just stop cold turkey at th...

Was on Norco 10-325 on and off for a few years due to back problems. Had l4/l5 Laminectomy and was sent home with 5mg oxicodone. It's been 16 days since surgery and I tapered down from 2.5 yesterday. Last one last night at 10 pm. Withdrawals kicked in at 2:30 pm today! Not too bad. But the abdominal pain is bad when the immodium wears off. How long will this last and will it get better or worse physically tomorrow and the next day? No RLS yet. Is it comming???? I want to be done! ## Just wondering how your withdrawal experience went? I weaned the exact same way Im down to 2.5 mg tomorrow for two days then Im done. Just curious what Im in for?! ## I found the rebound pain to be the worst problem, when I stopped pain management, but I didn't taper. I just stopped. But I had extrem...

Have been using opiets for over 35 years. Started with auto accident. Doctor prescribed over a long period then passed away. Was addicted and had to purchase illegally locally. Now still having problem with addiction and paying most of my SSI and Retirement for what I can get. Went to a mandatory class in Elizabeth City, NC several times weekly just to be able to get prescription for Suboxone. It worked but got tired of sitting 3 hours in class with young people and now back on the hard stuff. Why can one purchase cigarettes and liquor that kills but I can't get the necessary drugs to make me feel normal. Is there any help in sight? ## One of the many flaws of this country is how our federal government controls and regulates whatever it is they "consider" to be safe and disr...

I've been taking oxycodone 10 mg for the last five months. Today is my first day without. How long will it take to get it out of my body. ## It takes about a week for the withdrawals to go away. If you have gabapentin, double up on that, it will take away nearly all of your withdrawals away. ## @Debbie (thread starter), According to nih.gov, Oxycodone's elimination half life ranges from 3-4 hours in its immediate release form. Given this information, you can do some math to get a general idea of how long it might take to be completely excreted. For example: A 10mg dose could dwindle down to a mere 0.00072mg within about 24 hours, based on a 3 hour half life (dividing the dose in half, and half of every subsequent half every 3 hours). As post #1 suggested, my findings also indica...

Ive been taking 20 mg oxycodone daily for the past 6 months just to take the edge off, didnt think it would be that big of a deal because Im not very familiar with the drug. Before that i was a heavy H addict for 13 years, but have been clean for the past year after going through a 2 year program at a commune. The last 2 days Ive been taking half a pill (5 mg) early in the day before work, than another 5 mg after work to somehow get throught the day. I got 3 days to myself now. I know its not comparable to the numerous weeks, months and years of withdrawals Ive gone through but its always messed up kicking this. What are the best household remedies i can use and can i get off this garbage in these 3 days? ## Hello, Quickz! If you're down that low, the withdrawals at this point shoul...

I suffer from cluster attacks. My Dr has tried everything under the sun to try to treat them. They are chronic, lasting a year now with no more than a 2 or 3 day break. I usually have one during the day at 10:45 am and 2 at night. Once 1.5 hours after falling asleep and another 1.5 hours after falling asleep after the 1st night time one finishes. The day time one lasts for 30-90 minutes and both night time attacks last 2-3 1/2 hours. 3 days ago, while at his office at 11:45 I had one right there in his office. He performed 2 sphenocaths and gave me a shot of Torrodol with no effect. He has in the past prescribed me many headache treatments all designed for migraines, I think he's finally realizing that cluster attacks are not migraines. Anyway, after spending 3 hours in his office 3...

I've been on opiates for years, and I just want to offer encouragement to people who may be going through withdrawals. If it's urgent I'm here. If you have withdrawals and need help and support and money issues, I've been there myself, and can understand how it is. Sometimes it's hard to find the help you need when you need it most. ## I am just trying to move from tx to pa and made appt with a pain mngt to continue my regular quality of life regimine. Not due getting high or addicted but im getting no help even with letters of recomdation from primary and pain doc. My meds are up in eight days now and no one will refill. I thought i planned and went threw right procedurea. I am personally insulted and cant believe eithically this can be done. I have muscular dystroy...

I've tapered down from 20 mg oxycodone ( for 3 months for back pain) to 5mg for the last eight days. I want to get this process over with, of course. I could drop to 2.5 for week or just stop oxycodone now and prepare for the symptoms. My dr has given me adavan and clonidine. Advice please. ## So, you sent from 4 x 5mg per day to 1 x 5mg per day? Is your pain under control? 3 months isn't that long of time. If I were you, I'd change to 2.5 mg 2x per day then cut it to 2.5 once a day then that is it. ## When you think u tapperd down enough dont do none for 2 whole days then after 48 hours take a little bit, but dont get all loaded. Just take the edge off a little so you will sleep and wake up almost normal. I'm about to do it, hopefully i can quit. It's a mother f***e...

Dr put me on 5 mg oxycodone (20 mg a day). 1 capsule every 6 hrs. I've been taking it for 9 weeks due to TKR and the Manipulation of my knee under anesthesia. I have to get off of it but I'm panicking because I think I'm already experiencing withdrawal. The oxy only seems to help for 2 hrs and then I become agitated and anxious. My pain increases. How do I taper and how long will it take? I'm supposed to visit my daughter in 3 weeks and I don't want her to see me like this! ## Any time you ingest something for a long period of time, suddenly stopping it, or lowering your dose may result in withdrawal effects, but as long as the substance was only being taken as prescribed, they are usually mild, and short-lived. Ref: Oxycodone Information Other withdrawal effects may...

I've been on oxycodone 30 for years, now I have stopped 2 months ago, but in the process of withdrawal (it was hell). I went to the ER cause I looked like I was a losing it, flaring my arms because I couldn't sit still. Was clean for 2 weeks, then the pain came back and I fell back in. Now I am taking oxycodone again, and I want to stop, but hate these restless nights. I've been up for a week with no sleep and chills at night. What can I take to get off this medication? No suboxones, natural remedies are preferred. Please help. I'm also pregnant. ## Hi I knew something until you said you were pregnant. But once the baby’s born read about oxy withdrawals online. Start skipping a dose and take an Ondansetron and a half Bupranorphine You can get these from your doctor...

Hi, I suffer from chronic pain (lumbar spine) and see a pain management doctor. I've been on medication this time for about 10 months, before that I had about 8 months off of everything following 1 year of taking them. I'm looking for some answers about my current dose of Oxycodone, I'm wondering if my dose is considered normal or on the high side and also what side effects other people have experienced on OxyContin & Percocet. I am thinking that I may want to get off of it and wondering if it's best to taper down or just stop. And if taper down how would i do that. Really I have a lot of questions and would love someone who knows about this stuff to respond. I have googled a million times but never find a thread that is active. I have also tried to talk to my doctor...

I have been prescribed oxycodone 30 MG's for about 4 years 1 to 2 a day. I decided on the 11th of this month enough is enough! I hated the daily routine in order not to be sick for the day that I had to continue to take them. I became committed to do this for myself and children especially. They don't need a part of me they need all of me. I live in Az and it is harder and harder to come by. I could never see myself putting a needle in me and becoming a junkie. The problem that I am experiencing is that the symptoms continue to linger on, still really sick. When will the days get better? Seems it stays the same. ## Hello, Stef! How are you feeling? Has there been any change? When I went off of my pain management medications cold turkey, after being on them for several years, I f...

I just moved to North Dakota from Texas and in Texas I had a pain Dr. for extreme migraines, they call it chemo brain, as a result from when I was on 3 years of chemo. Well it's harder to find a pain dr here than what I thought, they'll all 2 months out so are family Drs. I take 12 15mg oxycodone daily and I ran out 2 days ago went to the ER because I was hurting so bad and he gave me 20 4mg Percocets. They're are gone now I took the last one when I woke up. Since those 2 days I was taking Percocets does that count as tapering to help the withdrawal a little. I have no idea what I'm in for and I cannot find anyone to prescribe me any sort of withdrawal medicine, that's all I'm worried about! ## Brittnay- have you looked into suboxone doctors to get you off the ox...

I have just switched from oxycodone to fentanyl patches. I will be withdrawing from them following sugery. any suggestions as to which is easier to withdraw from? Thanks!!! ## Well, the Fentanyl is actually much stronger than the Oxycodone, a 0.025mg dosage of it is equal to 5mgs of Oxycodone, so it is going to be the harder one to withdraw from, if it is stopped abruptly. However, the other fact of relevance is how long you will be using it. If it is only for a short period of time, them the withdrawals may not be too rough, though they may still be annoying. Has your doctor provided you with any advice? ## i have been on fentanyl for a long time. prior to this was on a bunch of oxycodone. to give you an idea i was taking anywhere to 3 or 4 of the 80s per day and 5 or 6 of the Roxi 30s...

I take up to 3, 30 mg a day of oxycodone. I'm trying to stop but don't want to get sick. To start off, if I take 30 mg of morphine will I withdrawal? I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone but I really want to stop, so if there are any ideas on how to stop the withdrawals or tame it I'm up for all suggestions. ## Oxycodone is 1 and a half times stronger than Morphine, so yes, you may still experience withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. A slow taper is usually the best method to stop taking it. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your prescriber for assistance? ## No, I have not consulted a doctor, I'm trying to do it myself. I'm trying to taper down righ...

I was wondering if anyone might help. I have been off my pain meds for 30 days now. I was taking about 320mg of oxycodone and 4-4mg Dilaudid a day. I quit cold turkey and havent had any meds in 30 days. It's been the worst month ever but believe it or not I am feeling much better. Im not having any more withdrawal symptoms. I am hurting very bad today in my neck where the problem is. I am wondering if I take a half or even a half of a half does anyone know if the withdrawal symptoms will come back. I definitely don't want to go through that again. I don't want the meds anymore I am just got to do something for the day to be able to move. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ## I'm pretty sure once you have a tolerance it stays that way for along time. It did...

Day 2 (36 hours) into withdrawal. I dont feel to bad at all. A little tired, sweat at night bit slept well. Am I out of the woods yet? Yesterday evening was terrible, my body felt like I had to move my arms and legs. But I slept through the night. Getting ready to get ip now and prepare for my day ## That is a very low dose, so your withdrawal effects are likely to be mild, unless you've been taking it a lot of it each day, or been on it for a very long period of time. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic that carries the risk of being habit forming and its withdrawal effects may include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, diarrhea and rebound pain. How are you feeling, now? Any change? ## Yes I have been taking almost 100 mg of oxycodone per day then about two weeks ago I...

I've been taking oxycodone for about 2 1/2 years. I started off half 5/325 percocet and would get sick, but gradually now to 30mg at once every other day. I've been taking 20 mg at night lately, been taking during the day as well for the past 2-3 weeks. I have been feeling a little sick to my stomach, so I believe I'm beginning to feel withdrawal symptoms on my days off. Like I said I normally take 25 mg Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday - so about 5x a week and I want to stop now. I don't wanna go to a clinic. How bad do u think my withdrawal will be and last??? Any and all advice is thankful! ## Hello, Bentley! How are you doing? It would really be best to taper off slowly, by gradually lowering the amount you're taking and spacing each dose further and ...
