Oxycodone Patch

Pain relief needed. Do they make a oxycodone patch, or something similar besides fentanyl? I used fentanyl for about 5 years. They made the patch sites itch and left welts and even though I was given meds to help when I stopped using them I was still pretty sick for a couple weeks. ## Unfortunately, no. However, there is a time released oral formulation of Oxycodone that lasts for 12 hours, it is available under the brand name Oxycodone, there are also other time released medications available, such as the Butrans patch, and Zohydro. The FDA warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Your doctor should be able to help you figure out which would be safest for you to try. Are you on an...

Are there any prolonged side effects after 10 yrs of treatment? ## Hello, Shellbee! How are you? Long-term side effects usually entail the possibility of liver damage, but that would be detected via blood work, if your doctor is monitoring you and checking occasionally. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was just taken off of 50mcg fentanyl patches/72hrs, and put on oxycodone 20mg extended release with hydro/APAP 5mg/325 acetaminophen for breakthrough pain and I'm going thru withdrawl as well as being in pain. Everything I read here gives me the impression that this shouldn...

How are you? Percocet contains both Acetaminophen and Oxycodone… and yes, there is a dosage with 7.5mgs of the Oxycodone in it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I'm on the fentanyl 50 transdermal gel patch and am not sure why they have chosen to put me on it so quickly. Can anyone shed some light for me on this subject? My PCP had me on a sript of 120mg oxycodone..skipped lortab.. anyway I was only having to take about 90mg of that oxy to maintain my pain from bulging disks and herniated disk in my neck. I had been self medicating for the pain since I had no insurance and finally got some. The docs are at odds that I may also have fibromialgia. Regardless, it was working pretty well and a pain mngmt doc came to the clinic and had a 1 time assesment of all patient with chronic pain issues and said I should be on the 25mg patch ...didn't work. Went to 50 patch and was fine for about 2.5 months and no, again, not working. Why can't I j...

Was on 360 30mg Oxycodones a month for 5 years. Doctor has now switched me to 240 30mg Oxycodone and 25mcg Fentanyl patches. I seem to be hurting worse since going on the patches. I go back Thursday for refills should I ask him to change anything? ## Hello, Blazer! How are you? That's very unusual, that would be 12 a day. 240 is still 8 a day, which isn't the typical amount prescribed, either. Fentanyl is much stronger than Oxycodone, but it is a time released patch, so it will not hit you all at once, like the Oxycodone did. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You may be dealing with some rebound pain from lowering yo...

I've been taking 45-60mg of oxycodone daily for quite awhile now. My doctor would like me to cut down to 45mg (3 x 15mg) more often and add 10mcg/hour buprenorphine patches and only take 60mg (4 x 15mg) as needed. I've read that buprenorphine patches may cut down the analgesic effect of the oxycodone, have others experienced this? It worries me that my oxycodone may no longer help me reduce my pain. ## Yes, Buprenorphine can sometimes do that, because it tends to cling much more strongly to the opiate receptors than other opiates. However, it is also an analgesic, so you may not need the Oxycodone, once you start it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drows...

here guys i found something as I am also going thru what u are all going thru. projects.propublica.org/checkup/drugs/2954/states/nevada I need a dr who will prescribe, fentanyl patches 100mg, 14 a month, soma 240mg 4 a day, and oxycodone 30mg 4 a day, xanax. this has always done well for me too, i hate that other ppl have abused them. I feel that ppl who dont have problems with them should continue to get them with no problems. ## Unfortunately, doctor's hands are tied on these matters, due to the new regulations that were set forth by DEA last year. They are restricted on how much they can prescribe of any given controlled substance and why they can prescribe it. I understand your frustration, but you're not going to be able to go into a new doctor and ask for specific medicati...

My ex-husband has had 5 lower back surgeries and has permanent nerve damage. He also has rods and pins in his back that one screw pushed on his spinal cord and had to be removed-lots of scar tissue. He's having a neurologist for many years. My ex has been on fentanyl 100 patch putting a new patch every 48 hours and oxycotin 5 was 6 times a day now he has been cut to 4 a day. His doctor won't give him any higher dosage and in extreme debilitating pain. He was in pain management years ago, but the doctor changed his percocet he took then and put him on morphine. He took to many for the week he was on it. It wasn't working and let pain management doctor know it and was thrown out of pain management. He of course is addicted. His meds of course aren't working very well any m...

It's that time my pain manag. And I are getting togeather to change my meds I am currently on oxycodone 20mg 5 times a day. I was wondering about demoral. Thoughts I have cronic pain in my ankle and have have 5 surgeries to try to fix it with nonluck. Also what other long and short act meds should I look up that are stronger than what I am currently taking ## Hello, Mtothej! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Demerol isn't actually a good choice, because it's much weaker than Oxycodone. For each 20mgs you take of Oxycodone, you'd have to take 300mgs of Demerol to be equivalent. There are higher doses of Oxycodone available, including the time released Oxycontin that's taken every 12 hours. There are also patches available that contain Fentanyl, ...

What do you do when neither Oxycodone or Dilaudid work for severe lower back pain, due to disc & nerve damage from a fall. I was on Oxycodone for quite some time but apparently built up a tolerence for it, so my doctor switched me to Dilaudid...I have felt like crap all month because I am still in excruciating pain...is there anything left to try that is better than these wo? ## You might want to ask about trying the Fentanyl patch (Duragesic) or lollipop (Actiq). It is pretty much the most potent narcotic available, since it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What was your dosage of Oxycodone and what is the dosage you were given of the Dilaudid? ## my oxycodone dose was 30mg 4 x a day for breakthrough pain. When that did not work anymore the...

I asked my Dr to take me off fentanol and increase my dose to 30mg oxycodone he has taken me off patch left break thru as is its not helping anymore not a strong enough dose anymore I don't know what else to say to him without sounding like I just want more pills. But I do its the only thing that gives any relief Any suggestions? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? Really, the only thing you can do is be honest with your doctor. Why did you want off of the Fentanyl? Were you having problems with it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yes had most of those side effects. Plus I have muscular dystrophy I have my bad days. But I do have my better days and I wa...

I just moved to Beaumont and need to find a good pain management doc willing to prescribe Oxy. I am already on Fentanyl patches, with a spinal stimulator, and that does not control the pain. Also, if docs here won't prescribe Oxycodone what are they alternatives that really work? It is the only thing that has worked for me that doesn't make me sick. I've been in constant pain for 3 months now. I'd prefer someone who takes Blue Cross Blue Shield. ## I was wondering if you found a doctor out here? I'm looking for the same thing and that's the only thing that helps the pain. ## We've moved since then, but Adrian C Dumitru did a fairly thorough job and was willing to prescribe oxy and fentanly. Ironically, his office building is hard to access without a wheelchai...

IS THERE ANY THING STRONGER THAT MY PAIN MGMT DR CAN PRESCRIBE ME THAN A 30MG ROXY, he also prescribes 200mg of ms contin ## Hello, Dave! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. There is a time released form of the Oxycodone available called Oxycontin, you could speak to your doctor about switching to that, since it would be stronger than the MS Contin. There are also patches available that contain the potent narcotic Fentanyl, it's the strongest one available. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. To replace your regular release medication, if you prefer to do that, there are higher doses of Roxicodone available, as well as several other alt...

increase in pain-added 50mg pain patch. I'm trying to keep oxycodone (10mg) at a minimum (2/5hr). Been using off & on for years (not every day, but now have to) Ihave trouble with my ears-called pharmicist and asked if this could be a side effect and he said yes and it is permanent damage. Is this fact? What should I do next? I had a toxic reaction to a medication that I had taken for years (daily). It was a low dose but I now know when you get older you have to be careful and not take asstrong a dose. I ended up 3 wks inhospital early this year and now I'm scared. I'm doing more research, but it is hard to find complete info you need to feel safe. I live in hawaii and the medical world here leaves a lot to be desired.

I live in New Jersey and I'm prescribed to 30 milligrams and I am trying to find a pain management doctor who will prescribe me it..I had a horrible spinal cord injury back in 2005 and again in 2011 and now I have multiple bulging and herniated discs along with spinal stenosis and foraminal stenosis and narrowing along with muscle spasms neurogenic pain and fibromyalgia yet I still can't get what I need they still for some reason continue to prescribe me 20 milligrams 3 times a day which doesnt even left me 45 minutes and they know that well everyone else in that office who doesn't even have an injury nearly as severe as mine is getting 30 milligrams 4 to 6 times a day and oxycontin 60 milligrams 3 times a day long with fentanyl patches and diazepam although I get klonopin m...

I am on both of these meds do to severe medical issues. I take 40 Mg of opana 4 x daily and 30 Mg of oxycodone 5 x daily as well as Nortriptyline 150 Mg twice daily and neurontin 600 Mg 3 x daily. Needless to say a few different stomach medication due to chronic nausea. Oh and also phenergan pills and injectable. My question is has anyone found anything other than multiple medications to relieve severe chronic pain. ## I also have severe medical problems and nothing works. For two years was on 3Mg iv dilaudid every three hours and 120 percocet 10/325 every month. Zofran for nausea. Overdosed a couple months ago (imagine that) and been dropped four 5/325 percocet a day and now in constant pain... Not sure how to adjust. ## Have either of you ever tried the Fentanyl patch? I am being changed from 50mch every 48 hrs and 40 mg of hydrocodone a day to oxycodone and the doc only gave me 15 mg three times a day ir release and i am hurting bad. I have a feeling this is not even close to what i am use to. What should i do or say to my doc. I am working with the va military docs which are very strict. ## So you were on a Fentanyl patch that you changed every 48 hours and the Hydrocodone and they've now cut you down to 15mgs of Oxycodone 3 times a day? There's really no way this is going to work, you're going from a time release patch of the most potent narcotic available, down to just 45mgs a day of Oxycodone and that's not even taking the additional Hydrocodone into account. Did they say why they made the switch? Learn more Oxycodone details here...

Seven years of back pain with long history of muscle relaxant and more recently oxycodone and lorazepam. Pain mgmt. just switched me from 10mg Vicodin every 4 hrs to 25mcg Fentanyl patch every 3 days with 7.5 Vicodin every 6-8 hrs for breakthrough. Started patch last week. First seemed to work okay but over the last two patches breakthrough pain has increased with increased pain down my legs. I get sweats then chills with pain in all my joints, arms, legs, hands, feet. I take 60mg of Morphine 3x daily + 10/325 mg Oxycodone/Acetaminophen daily. My cancer is getting worse. Any ideas? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that your cancer isn't improving. Many cancer patients end up requiring a very potent narcotic, such as Fentanyl. It's available in a patch that you wear on your skin and change every 48 to 72 hours, so that may be something to discuss with your doctor. It was actually specifically created to help cancer patients. The FDA classifies this as a This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I suffer with extremely painful MS and have not been on regular opiods since September of 2012.My neurologist had me on up to seven oxycodone 15mg a day along with the fentanyl 50 patches. He left the area and I have been to multiple doctors and I just get passed around now. All I am on now is tramadol.... And that is no comparison.I can't find another neurologist that will write scripts or any other Dr for that matter. Please I beg for some help!!!!!!! ## Hello, Pebbles! How are you? If you're asking them to prescribe narcotics, most doctors are going to refuse, because they are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. Have you tried a pain management specialist? Having your PCP refer you to one might be the easiest and quickest way to get the help you need, but be s...
