why patches when oxycodone was working
I'm on the fentanyl 50 transdermal gel patch and am not sure why they have chosen to put me on it so quickly. Can anyone shed some light for me on this subject? My PCP had me on a sript of 120mg oxycodone..skipped lortab.. anyway I was only having to take about 90mg of that oxy to maintain my pain from bulging disks and herniated disk in my neck. I had been self medicating for the pain since I had no insurance and finally got some. The docs are at odds that I may also have fibromialgia. Regardless, it was working pretty well and a pain mngmt doc came to the clinic and had a 1 time assesment of all patient with chronic pain issues and said I should be on the 25mg patch ...didn't work. Went to 50 patch and was fine for about 2.5 months and no, again, not working. Why can't I j... ...

Oxycodone And Dilaudid
What do you do when neither Oxycodone or Dilaudid work for severe lower back pain, due to disc & nerve damage from a fall. I was on Oxycodone for quite some time but apparently built up a tolerence for it, so my doctor switched me to Dilaudid...I have felt like crap all month because I am still in excruciating there anything left to try that is better than these wo? ## You might want to ask about trying the Fentanyl patch (Duragesic) or lollipop (Actiq). It is pretty much the most potent narcotic available, since it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What was your dosage of Oxycodone and what is the dosage you were given of the Dilaudid? ## my oxycodone dose was 30mg 4 x a day for breakthrough pain. When that did not work anymore the... ...

upping my dose oxycodone
I asked my Dr to take me off fentanol and increase my dose to 30mg oxycodone he has taken me off patch left break thru as is its not helping anymore not a strong enough dose anymore I don't know what else to say to him without sounding like I just want more pills. But I do its the only thing that gives any relief Any suggestions? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? Really, the only thing you can do is be honest with your doctor. Why did you want off of the Fentanyl? Were you having problems with it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yes had most of those side effects. Plus I have muscular dystrophy I have my bad days. But I do have my better days and I wa... ...

oxycodone long term usage
increase in pain-added 50mg pain patch. I'm trying to keep oxycodone (10mg) at a minimum (2/5hr). Been using off & on for years (not every day, but now have to) Ihave trouble with my ears-called pharmicist and asked if this could be a side effect and he said yes and it is permanent damage. Is this fact? What should I do next? I had a toxic reaction to a medication that I had taken for years (daily). It was a low dose but I now know when you get older you have to be careful and not take asstrong a dose. I ended up 3 wks inhospital early this year and now I'm scared. I'm doing more research, but it is hard to find complete info you need to feel safe. I live in hawaii and the medical world here leaves a lot to be desired. ...

opana 40 mg and oxycodone 30
I am on both of these meds do to severe medical issues. I take 40 Mg of opana 4 x daily and 30 Mg of oxycodone 5 x daily as well as Nortriptyline 150 Mg twice daily and neurontin 600 Mg 3 x daily. Needless to say a few different stomach medication due to chronic nausea. Oh and also phenergan pills and injectable. My question is has anyone found anything other than multiple medications to relieve severe chronic pain. ## I also have severe medical problems and nothing works. For two years was on 3Mg iv dilaudid every three hours and 120 percocet 10/325 every month. Zofran for nausea. Overdosed a couple months ago (imagine that) and been dropped four 5/325 percocet a day and now in constant pain... Not sure how to adjust. ## Have either of you ever tried the Fentanyl patch? How Long Does Oxycodone Work
I am being changed from 50mch every 48 hrs and 40 mg of hydrocodone a day to oxycodone and the doc only gave me 15 mg three times a day ir release and i am hurting bad. i have a feeling this is not even close to what i am use to. what should i do or say to my doc. i am working with the va military docs which are very strict. ## So you were on a Fentanyl patch that you changed every 48 hours and the Hydrocodone and they've now cut you down to 15mgs of Oxycodone 3 times a day? There's really no way this is going to work, you're going from a time release patch of the most potent narcotic available, down to just 45mgs a day of Oxycodone and that's not even taking the additional Hydrocodone into account. Did they say why they made the switch? Learn more Oxycodone details here... ...

Oxycodone Vs Fentanyl Withdrawals
I have just switched from oxycodone to fentanyl patches. I will be withdrawing from them following sugery. any suggestions as to which is easier to withdraw from? Thanks!!! ## Well, the Fentanyl is actually much stronger than the Oxycodone, a 0.025mg dosage of it is equal to 5mgs of Oxycodone, so it is going to be the harder one to withdraw from, if it is stopped abruptly. However, the other fact of relevance is how long you will be using it. If it is only for a short period of time, them the withdrawals may not be too rough, though they may still be annoying. Has your doctor provided you with any advice? ## i have been on fentanyl for a long time. prior to this was on a bunch of oxycodone. to give you an idea i was taking anywhere to 3 or 4 of the 80s per day and 5 or 6 of the Roxi 30s... ...

What Can I Take To Replace Oxycodone
My insurance will no longer pay for oxycodone or oxycoton. So what should I get ## Has your doctor suggested anything? There is a time released formulation of Morphine available as a generic and name brand, MS Contin: There is also a patch available, as both name brand and generic, that contains the narcotic Fentanyl: Since they are both narcotics, the side effects would be similar and can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. ...

I'm a cronic pain patient going on 10 Years. I have had multiple surgeries on my lower back. I have been prescribed Oxycodone 30mgs up to as many as #240 a month -As low as #90 a month depending on which Dr. I was seeing at the time. This has been extended over a 5 yr period. I do not misuse, sell, give or abuse my medication In any way. I work a very labor intensive job with heavy machinery daily and have found other drugs such as: fentynal duragesic patches, morphine, dilaudid, methadone and Opana to greatly reduce awareness and complicate an already complicated job due to side effects. Now, I'm on Morphine #120 mgs a day.. both immediate and long acting release.. and can't function due to drowsiness and a "head in the clouds " type of feeling. At work, I have notice... ...

Percoset Patch
Hi I have been prescribed Percoset 10/325 for about a year, before that was on Lortab 10/500 for 6 years, my new pain management doctor has mentioned that there is a new pain patch that contains oxycodone and asked if I would like to try it. I told him no for now because frankly it kind of worries me. I have been on opiates for so long that I am naturally addicted to them, I have a torn trapezius muscle, need a knee replacement which they won't do yet because they say I am too young, have sciatica and degenerative disk disease along with carpal tunnel, so I have legitimate reasons for being prescribed the pain meds, what I am worried about with the patch, is will I have withdraw symptoms since I am not physically taking the pills, also, I tried using the nicotine patch years ago and... ...

all pharmacys in Tucson AZ do not have 15 mg oxycodone availability?
Why can't I get my legitimate script filled in Tucson. What's up with that? People need to get their medicine. My condition requires me to take 15mg tablets every 6 hours. I use it for break through pain and a 100 mcg fentanyl patch. If patients can't get their required, legitimate scripts filled, patients get sick because our cycle of pain goes out of control therefore, patients are unable to manage pain. Sudden unavailability exacerbates pain and is counter productive to manageing pain. Please advise. Thank You! ## I'm sorry, but this is an information only website, it's not affiliated with any medication manufacturer, or pharmacy. As to why you can't get it filled, has your pharmacy provided you with an answer? They should be able to let you know if they don... ...

I'm on my 5th week of the 10mg patches.I have no side effects,But it doesn't take my back pain away.It does help.I was on 30mg oxycodone 4 times a day. It did take the pain away. But I lost 35 lb and I didn't have 35lb to lose.I looked like a scare crow.I couldn't eat. I told the pain Dr. to get me off the Oxy.He gave me methadone to get off.It took a month. I go back to the pain Dr Tues. I want to try the Butrans 20.I hate to see the cost.I paid $239.00 for the 10s ## Hello, Dal! How are you? Have you considered trying the Fentanyl patch? oxycontin change to fenyl patches
I am currently taking 40mg oxycontin 3 tds for failed spinal fusion. Have been on same dose for 5 or so years but now they dont help much so I am considering changing to patches. Will I have to come crashing down if I change or will the fentonyl stop the crash during change over?It is a daunting thought to come down as I did trying jernista and couldnt cope with pain also. Any feedback greatly appreciated. ## Sorry about the pain you're in! The Fentanyl should prevent any withdrawal effects, because it is actually stronger than the Oxycodone. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. fentanyl pain patch acetaminophen
I just got blood test results showing elevated liver ensymes. I take percodan 10/325 3xday. I also take fentanyl patch 25 every 48 hours. What meds could replace these in reguards to the elevated liver enzymes ? ## Hello, Trish! How are you? The elevated enzymes are most likely caused by the oral medication, not the patch, since it isn't processed directly through the liver. There are formulations of Oxycodone available without anything else added that your doctor can prescribe, so it won't have as much of an impact on your liver as the Percodan does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How high are your enzymes levels? ## My alt is 46 and ast is 5... ...

On 50mcg Fentanyl Patch And 5mg Oxy Ir
Have had multiple fusions on lumber in back patches dont seem to help to much and they have me taking 12 5mg oxy irs a day just wondering what would be a good substitute my in insurance wont cover oxy ers.Wondering if opanas would be a good substitute? ## Both Oxycodone and Opana are very powerful narcotic pain medications. However, Opana (Oxymorphone) is said to be approximately 2x stronger than Oxycodone. In that regard, it may be a more desirable option for short-term pain relief. For longer relief, you can always check and see if Opana ER is covered under your insurance as well... Keep in mind though that all opioids have different effects, where as there is no such thing as "equivalent" dosages. An "equivalent" dosage for one person could cause another to OD. With t... ...

Fentanyl Duragestic Patches not for Acute Pain
Fentanyl Duragesic patches R not for acute pain such as after surgery. Only for chronic long-term pain. I am in constant pain from back, neck, hip and foot injury in serious car wreck 5 years ago. I use 50 mcg patches and percocet 1000 mg for pain, but it is never totally gone, just bearable. ## I am not sure what the dosage is on your Percocet, or if it is even Percocet you are taking, because it does not come in a 1000mg tablet. The max for Percocet is 650mgs of Acetaminophen with 10mgs of Oxycodone. As to the Fentanyl, if it is not controlling your pain, then you have probably built up a tolerance to that dosage and may need to talk to your doctor about making a med adjustment. It does come in up to 75mcgs in the patches. ## Vernon, Please tell me. Maybe you will know. I am so tired ... ...

morphine sulphate er and ir vrs hydrocodone with fentanyl patch
for 3 years my dr. was prescribing me three 60mg morphine sulphate er and four 30mg ms ir daily. when it became impossible to get MS in Florida, he switched me to Fentanyl patch 12MCG/HR every 3 days and 7.5mg-200 hydrocordone , 1 every 8 hours. the pain was unbearable and I felt terrible. cold sweats, shakes, could'nt think straight. when I asked him to increase dosage, he increased the patch to 25 MCG, but said there was more MS in the 7.5-200 hydrocodone than the 30mg tabs of ms. do you agree? Also, how does the patch equate to the Three 60MG MS er I was taking daily? Prior to this Dr.,after I moved 200 miles away,, my orthopedic surgeon was prescribing me Oxycontin, or oxycodone. Just asking for help
i have been on the 50mcg patches for about 2 yrs. also take breakthrough of 4 10mg. oxycodone. i've noticed the past few months i need to take more of the pills. the patch has worked good but it is possible it needs to be uped to 100mcg.s? i have a good dr. i've been told that if the patch is increased that the other pills need to be raised too. i have chronic pain. i have a high tolerance. i looking to only get more relief not a high. ## Hello, Merle! How are you feeling? Sorry about the problems you're having. No, it isn't necessarily true that raising one requires raising the other.
