why patches when oxycodone was working
I'm on the fentanyl 50 transdermal gel patch and am not sure why they have chosen to put me on it so quickly. Can anyone shed some light for me on this subject? My PCP had me on a sript of 120mg oxycodone..skipped lortab.. anyway I was only having to take about 90mg of that oxy to maintain my pain from bulging disks and herniated disk in my neck. I had been self medicating for the pain since I had no insurance and finally got some. The docs are at odds that I may also have fibromialgia. Regardless, it was working pretty well and a pain mngmt doc came to the clinic and had a 1 time assesment of all patient with chronic pain issues and said I should be on the 25mg patch ...didn't work. Went to 50 patch and was fine for about 2.5 months and no, again, not working. Why can't I j... ...

Oxycodone And Dilaudid
What do you do when neither Oxycodone or Dilaudid work for severe lower back pain, due to disc & nerve damage from a fall. I was on Oxycodone for quite some time but apparently built up a tolerence for it, so my doctor switched me to Dilaudid...I have felt like crap all month because I am still in excruciating pain...is there anything left to try that is better than these wo? ## You might want to ask about trying the Fentanyl patch (Duragesic) or lollipop (Actiq). It is pretty much the most potent narcotic available, since it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What was your dosage of Oxycodone and what is the dosage you were given of the Dilaudid? ## my oxycodone dose was 30mg 4 x a day for breakthrough pain. When that did not work anymore the... ...

I asked my Dr to take me off fentanol and increase my dose to 30mg oxycodone he has taken me off patch left break thru as is its not helping anymore not a strong enough dose anymore I don't know what else to say to him without sounding like I just want more pills. But I do its the only thing that gives any relief Any suggestions? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? Really, the only thing you can do is be honest with your doctor. Why did you want off of the Fentanyl? Were you having problems with it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yes had most of those side effects. Plus I have muscular dystrophy I have my bad days. But I do have my better days and I wa... ...

Oxycodone in Beaumont, TX
I just moved to Beaumont and need to find a good pain management doc willing to prescribe Oxy. I am already on Fentanyl patches, with a spinal stimulator, and that does not control the pain. Also, if docs here won't prescribe Oxycodone what are they alternatives that really work? It is the only thing that has worked for me that doesn't make me sick. I've been in constant pain for 3 months now. I'd prefer someone who takes Blue Cross Blue Shield. ...

oxycodone long term usage
increase in pain-added 50mg pain patch. I'm trying to keep oxycodone (10mg) at a minimum (2/5hr). Been using off & on for years (not every day, but now have to) Ihave trouble with my ears-called pharmicist and asked if this could be a side effect and he said yes and it is permanent damage. Is this fact? What should I do next? I had a toxic reaction to a medication that I had taken for years (daily). It was a low dose but I now know when you get older you have to be careful and not take asstrong a dose. I ended up 3 wks inhospital early this year and now I'm scared. I'm doing more research, but it is hard to find complete info you need to feel safe. I live in hawaii and the medical world here leaves a lot to be desired. ...

opana 40 mg and oxycodone 30
I am on both of these meds do to severe medical issues. I take 40 Mg of opana 4 x daily and 30 Mg of oxycodone 5 x daily as well as Nortriptyline 150 Mg twice daily and neurontin 600 Mg 3 x daily. Needless to say a few different stomach medication due to chronic nausea. Oh and also phenergan pills and injectable. My question is has anyone found anything other than multiple medications to relieve severe chronic pain. ## I also have severe medical problems and nothing works. For two years was on 3Mg iv dilaudid every three hours and 120 percocet 10/325 every month. Zofran for nausea. Overdosed a couple months ago (imagine that) and been dropped four 5/325 percocet a day and now in constant pain... Not sure how to adjust. ## Have either of you ever tried the Fentanyl patch? How Long Does Oxycodone Work
I am being changed from 50mch every 48 hrs and 40 mg of hydrocodone a day to oxycodone and the doc only gave me 15 mg three times a day ir release and i am hurting bad. i have a feeling this is not even close to what i am use to. what should i do or say to my doc. i am working with the va military docs which are very strict. ## So you were on a Fentanyl patch that you changed every 48 hours and the Hydrocodone and they've now cut you down to 15mgs of Oxycodone 3 times a day? There's really no way this is going to work, you're going from a time release patch of the most potent narcotic available, down to just 45mgs a day of Oxycodone and that's not even taking the additional Hydrocodone into account. Did they say why they made the switch? Learn more Oxycodone details here... ...

Can you have withdrawls from oxycodone when switching to fentanyl patch?
Seven years of back pain with long history of muscle relaxant and more recently oxycodone and lorazepam. Docs finally did MRI and found Spondylolisthesis Grade 3-4 with bulging disc and appears vertebrae have already fused. Still being worked up by Neuro surgeon. Pain mgmt. just switched me from 10mg Vicodin every 4 hrs to 25mcg Fentanyl patch every 3 days with 7.5 Vicodin every 6-8 hrs for breakthrough. Started patch last week. First seemed to work okay but over the last two patches breakthrough pain has increased with increased pain down my legs. I get sweats then chills with pain in all my joints, arms, legs, hands, feet. Seems increasing my Vicodin and taking it more frequently is the only thing that relieves it but sometimes need 30mg of Vicodin in a short time-frame. Not sure if t... ...

oxycodone for ms in ocala florida
I suffer with extremely painful MS and have not been on regular opiods since September of 2012.My neurologist had me on up to seven oxycodone 15mg a day along with the fentanyl 50 patches. He left the area and I have been to multiple doctors and I just get passed around now. All I am on now is tramadol.... And that is no comparison.I can't find another neurologist that will write scripts or any other Dr for that matter. Please I beg for some help!!!!!!! ## Hello, Pebbles! How are you? If you're asking them to prescribe narcotics, most doctors are going to refuse, because they are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. Have you tried a pain management specialist? Having your PCP refer you to one might be the easiest and quickest way to get the help you need, but be s... ...

Oxycodone Vs Fentanyl Withdrawals
I have just switched from oxycodone to fentanyl patches. I will be withdrawing from them following sugery. any suggestions as to which is easier to withdraw from? Thanks!!! ## Well, the Fentanyl is actually much stronger than the Oxycodone, a 0.025mg dosage of it is equal to 5mgs of Oxycodone, so it is going to be the harder one to withdraw from, if it is stopped abruptly. However, the other fact of relevance is how long you will be using it. If it is only for a short period of time, them the withdrawals may not be too rough, though they may still be annoying. Has your doctor provided you with any advice? ## i have been on fentanyl for a long time. prior to this was on a bunch of oxycodone. to give you an idea i was taking anywhere to 3 or 4 of the 80s per day and 5 or 6 of the Roxi 30s... ...

What Can I Take To Replace Oxycodone
My insurance will no longer pay for oxycodone or oxycoton. So what should I get ## Has your doctor suggested anything? There is a time released formulation of Morphine available as a generic and name brand, MS Contin: There is also a patch available, as both name brand and generic, that contains the narcotic Fentanyl: Since they are both narcotics, the side effects would be similar and can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. ...

Oxycodone/Michigan/Doctors?/Guidelines
I'm a cronic pain patient going on 10 Years. I have had multiple surgeries on my lower back. I have been prescribed Oxycodone 30mgs up to as many as #240 a month -As low as #90 a month depending on which Dr. I was seeing at the time. This has been extended over a 5 yr period. I do not misuse, sell, give or abuse my medication In any way. I work a very labor intensive job with heavy machinery daily and have found other drugs such as: fentynal duragesic patches, morphine, dilaudid, methadone and Opana to greatly reduce awareness and complicate an already complicated job due to side effects. Now, I'm on Morphine #120 mgs a day.. both immediate and long acting release.. and can't function due to drowsiness and a "head in the clouds " type of feeling. At work, I have notice... ...

Oxycodone addiction and abuse relief on the way
Searching the internet, a biotech company in Australia has developed an oxycodone patch that delivers oxycodone via a patch. Controlled release so minimal euphoria and near impossible to extract. Much smaller amounts of opioid needed to achieve the same therapeutic results as well. Proof of concept trials on racehorses showed 100% success rate. For details: phosphagenics.com/documents/PhosphagenicsTopicalOxycodonePatchAlleviatesPaininRacehorses.pdf or slideshare.net/IAH100/iah-global-oxycodone-press-release-22-may-2014 Very promising stuff ## Hello, Irma! Percoset Patch
Hi I have been prescribed Percoset 10/325 for about a year, before that was on Lortab 10/500 for 6 years, my new pain management doctor has mentioned that there is a new pain patch that contains oxycodone and asked if I would like to try it. I told him no for now because frankly it kind of worries me. I have been on opiates for so long that I am naturally addicted to them, I have a torn trapezius muscle, need a knee replacement which they won't do yet because they say I am too young, have sciatica and degenerative disk disease along with carpal tunnel, so I have legitimate reasons for being prescribed the pain meds, what I am worried about with the patch, is will I have withdraw symptoms since I am not physically taking the pills, also, I tried using the nicotine patch years ago and... ...

oxycodone 10mg every 8 hrs as replacment for 8mg diluidid 4hrs
my pain dr. who I have been seeing for over a year have end stage brain lung cancer has been writing for 180 8mg diliuidid and 175 mg fentenol patch all is well and working today I saw his asscioaite and she changed my diliudid to 10mg Percocet every 8 hrs is this ethically right my organs are already compromised and now she wants to put acetaminophen into my liver ## Hello, Joey! How are you? She's actually not obligated to prescribe you anything and due to the new regulations, unless you have a terminal condition, such as late stage cancer, there are limits as to how much you can be prescribed, so she couldn't keep writing for 180 of the Dilaudid. And it would be rare to have any damage occur from just taking 3 of the Percocet a day, with just 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose.... ...

all pharmacys in Tucson AZ do not have 15 mg oxycodone availability?
Why can't I get my legitimate script filled in Tucson. What's up with that? People need to get their medicine. My condition requires me to take 15mg tablets every 6 hours. I use it for break through pain and a 100 mcg fentanyl patch. If patients can't get their required, legitimate scripts filled, patients get sick because our cycle of pain goes out of control therefore, patients are unable to manage pain. Sudden unavailability exacerbates pain and is counter productive to manageing pain. Please advise. Thank You! ## I'm sorry, but this is an information only website, it's not affiliated with any medication manufacturer, or pharmacy. As to why you can't get it filled, has your pharmacy provided you with an answer? They should be able to let you know if they don... ...
