Pain relief needed. Do they make a oxycodone patch, or something similar besides fentanyl? I used fentanyl for about 5 years. They made the patch sites itch and left welts and even though I was given meds to help when I stopped using them I was still pretty sick for a couple weeks. ## Unfortunately, no. However, there is a time released oral formulation of Oxycodone that lasts for 12 hours, it is available under the brand name Oxycodone, there are also other time released medications available, such as the Butrans patch, and Zohydro. The FDA warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Your doctor should be able to help you figure out which would be safest for you to try. Are you on an...

Are there any prolonged side effects after 10 yrs of treatment? ## Hello, Shellbee! How are you? Long-term side effects usually entail the possibility of liver damage, but that would be detected via blood work, if your doctor is monitoring you and checking occasionally. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was just taken off of 50mcg fentanyl patches/72hrs, and put on oxycodone 20mg extended release with hydro/APAP 5mg/325 acetaminophen for breakthrough pain and I'm going thru withdrawl as well as being in pain. Everything I read here gives me the impression that this shouldn...

Was on 360 30mg Oxycodones a month for 5 years. Doctor has now switched me to 240 30mg Oxycodone and 25mcg Fentanyl patches. I seem to be hurting worse since going on the patches. I go back Thursday for refills should I ask him to change anything? ## Hello, Blazer! How are you? That's very unusual, that would be 12 a day. 240 is still 8 a day, which isn't the typical amount prescribed, either. Fentanyl is much stronger than Oxycodone, but it is a time released patch, so it will not hit you all at once, like the Oxycodone did. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You may be dealing with some rebound pain from lowering yo...

I've been taking 45-60mg of oxycodone daily for quite awhile now. My doctor would like me to cut down to 45mg (3 x 15mg) more often and add 10mcg/hour buprenorphine patches and only take 60mg (4 x 15mg) as needed. I've read that buprenorphine patches may cut down the analgesic effect of the oxycodone, have others experienced this? It worries me that my oxycodone may no longer help me reduce my pain. ## Yes, Buprenorphine can sometimes do that, because it tends to cling much more strongly to the opiate receptors than other opiates. However, it is also an analgesic, so you may not need the Oxycodone, once you start it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drows...

I herniated a disc in Feb 2011 that didn't respond to a microdiscectomy, so was going thru intensive PT before deciding whether or not to do a fusion. Well, in early Dec of 2011, I came down with Guillian-Barre Syndrome, a rare syndrome where your immune system attacks your peripheral nervous system. Recovering from GBS can be extremely painful. My case left me temporarily paralyzed from the waist down and I've been I'm the wheelchair for almost 9mos. I have a wonderful therapist and am using my walker more and more each week. Anyway, I've been on oxycodone 5mg and tramadol since Oct and the pain relief has been minimal. So, my PCP (handling pain meds in lieu of ortho right now- not seeing ortho until GBS "gets fixed.") put me on the 50ug fentanyl patch. The firs...

I asked my Dr to take me off fentanol and increase my dose to 30mg oxycodone he has taken me off patch left break thru as is its not helping anymore not a strong enough dose anymore I don't know what else to say to him without sounding like I just want more pills. But I do its the only thing that gives any relief Any suggestions? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? Really, the only thing you can do is be honest with your doctor. Why did you want off of the Fentanyl? Were you having problems with it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yes had most of those side effects. Plus I have muscular dystrophy I have my bad days. But I do have my better days and I wa...

IS THERE ANY THING STRONGER THAT MY PAIN MGMT DR CAN PRESCRIBE ME THAN A 30MG ROXY, he also prescribes 200mg of ms contin ## Hello, Dave! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. There is a time released form of the Oxycodone available called Oxycontin, you could speak to your doctor about switching to that, since it would be stronger than the MS Contin. There are also patches available that contain the potent narcotic Fentanyl, it's the strongest one available. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. To replace your regular release medication, if you prefer to do that, there are higher doses of Roxicodone available, as well as several other alt...

I take 60mg of Morphine 3x daily + 10/325 mg Oxycodone/Acetaminophen daily. My cancer is getting worse. Any ideas? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that your cancer isn't improving. Many cancer patients end up requiring a very potent narcotic, such as Fentanyl. It's available in a patch that you wear on your skin and change every 48 to 72 hours, so that may be something to discuss with your doctor. It was actually specifically created to help cancer patients. The FDA classifies this as a This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any suggestions? ## I am so sorry you are suffering from cancer! My father went f...

Looking for a doctor in Delaware/PA for pain management of severe migraine headaches who will prescribe oxycodone liquid. Have been to migraine clinics all over the country and tried Fentyl patch, Botox injections, triptan medications, morphine, diladid, with no relief for chronic dibiltating migraines. ## Has your doctor done any checking to see what's causing your migraines? The reason I'm asking is because Fentanyl is the strongest opiate available, so if it didn't help, it is unlikely that Oxycodone will help, regardless of the form its in. The FDA warns that opiate medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. My insurance will no longer pay for oxycodone or oxycoton. So what should I get ## Has your doctor suggested anything? There is a time released formulation of Morphine available as a generic and name brand, MS Contin: There is also a patch available, as both name brand and generic, that contains the narcotic Fentanyl: Since they are both narcotics, the side effects would be similar and can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.

Can I take oxycodone and dilaudid and be on the fentanyl patch at the same time safely? ## Hello, Hauler! How are you? Has your doctor prescribed all of these? It's odd to be on 2 regular release medications, as well as the time released patch. Usually, just one regular release is prescribed for breakthrough pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Taking too much can create the risk of overdose, especially if you aren't opiate tolerant. ## Was on Dilaudid for hip replacement. Horrible drug to get off of. Am in withdrawal now. Tried Fentenyl patch and that was just as bad. ## Trust me, you don't want to. I'm t...

I'm a cronic pain patient going on 10 Years. I have had multiple surgeries on my lower back. I have been prescribed Oxycodone 30mgs up to as many as #240 a month -As low as #90 a month depending on which Dr. I was seeing at the time. This has been extended over a 5 yr period. I do not misuse, sell, give or abuse my medication In any way. I work a very labor intensive job with heavy machinery daily and have found other drugs such as: fentynal duragesic patches, morphine, dilaudid, methadone and Opana to greatly reduce awareness and complicate an already complicated job due to side effects. Now, I'm on Morphine #120 mgs a day.. both immediate and long acting release.. and can't function due to drowsiness and a "head in the clouds " type of feeling. At work, I have notice...

Searching the internet, a biotech company in Australia has developed an oxycodone patch that delivers oxycodone via a patch. Controlled release so minimal euphoria and near impossible to extract. Much smaller amounts of opioid needed to achieve the same therapeutic results as well. Proof of concept trials on racehorses showed 100% success rate. are there K/8 patches I have never heard of them ## Hello, Ash! How are you? I assume you're asking if they are Oxycodone patches and if so, no it is not available in a patch form. How many percocets equal the 100mcg patches changed every 48 hours ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, so you'd actually need several hundred milligrams of Oxycodone to equal a 100mcg patch and you can't take enough Percocet to be equal to it. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, you'd overdose, especially on the Acetaminophen, before you ever reached the same level of efficacy. Even if you tried to space it over 2 days, as you would the patch. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor switched you form one to the other? ## okay? I have a question on pain ...

I'm on my 5th week of the 10mg patches. I have no side effects, But it doesn't take my back pain away. It does help. I was on 30mg oxycodone 4 times a day. It did take the pain away. But I lost 35 lb and I didn't have 35lb to lose. I looked like a scare crow. I couldn't eat. I told the pain Dr. to get me off the Oxy. He gave me methadone to get off. It took a month. I go back to the pain Dr Tues. I want to try the Butrans 20. I hate to see the cost. I paid $239.00 for the 10s. ## Hello, Dal! How are you? Have you considered trying the Fentanyl patch? It is a much stronger analgesic and is available as a generic, so it's much cheaper. Learn more Fentanyl details here. I have been on 15 mcgs patches for 5 weeks and they don't seem to work anymore. I have a vascular leg ulcer which is taking ages to heal but the breakthrough pain is horrendous. I'm getting no sleep at all. My GP took me off tramadol and codeine to try these but the pain is unbearable. I've tried cocodamol (over the counter dosage) and naproxen but it doesn't help at all. ## Unfortunately, this medication does not work for everyone to alleviate pain. The U.S. FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you ever tried any other more potent opiates, such as Oxycodone or Morphine? ## I was taken off tramadol and OxyCodone and put on these patches. They told m...

I have been taking 60mg morphine sulfate er for 10 plus years with 30mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain relief. A friend of mine who also has severe pain is on fentynal patches and I was wondering which one is better? What I am taking now is beginning to not work as well as it use to. Help! ## Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, it is over 81 times stronger than Morphine. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation.
