I have been taking pain meds for quite some time now, and have been trying to figure out why I'm prescribed generic Percocet with Hydrochloride? I would appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks so much in advance! ## Hello, Angela! How are you? It is just Oxycodone, the hydrochloride is used to designate the specific chemical salt that the medication was derived from, some prescriptions list it, some don't. But, it is the same medication. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for the information..I've wondered about that for quite a while. Glad I found this site..a lot of good informati...

I have the option to use either oxycodone or hydrocodone for a broken ankle... and after surgery. Which is the stronger of the two? I would like to take one in the evening and then the weaker of the two during the day so I can work. Thanks! ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Oxycodone is the stronger of the two. The FDA classifies these medication as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, since both can cause dizziness and drowsiness, please make sure you won't be driving or operating heavy machinery. I was wondering what the difference is between hydro and oxo codone? Is it the way the pill is made or extracted from the plant, Hydro is by water and Oxy is by oxygen??? I seem to think the oxycodone is stronger and almost all doctors and health care say it is more addicting than hydrocodone, why is this??? I have taken both for cruched disc in my neck and back, is there anything closely related without so much tylenol, I am severely allergic to Ibuprophen (all anit-Inflamitories) and hate the side affects of the tylenol in with either of these..Any help...???? Thanks ## M369 ## I also have an issue with hydrocondone I I sweat alot when because of all the tylenol I am taking 10/650- LORCET .they are blue . I have just recently began a pain treatment clinic. I was prescribed hydrocodone 5mg with 325 mg acetaminophen. This is not working for me. What do I need to say to convince my Dr to change to oxycodone? ## How you tell the Dr. you want to change? That you want to change back to your old meds, pain pill. ## Just be honest with your doctor, tell them that the new medication isn't working for you, but you should do so, without asking for a specific replacement medication, let them suggest a solution, and then discuss your options from there. Oxycodone has a tendency to be addictive and is highly abused, which makes many doctors reluctant to prescribe it. It's other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to...

What is the difference between hydrocodone, and oxycodone? For example is five milligrams of each equal to each other? We had a debate at work talking with someone w/o just had surgery, and no one seemed to know. Thanks! ## Hello, Firefly! How are you? Oxycodone is actually a bit stronger than Hydrocodone, you'd only need 3.33mgs of it to be equal to each 5mgs of Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What can I get to help with the inching from Percocets or any other pain meds

I had surgery in May for disc replacement in C5 and C6 and was taking 10-325mg of Norco for pain, on October 12th I had a disc replaced in L5-S1 and my surgeon put me on 10-325mg of Percocet and Valium 10mg. I have been depressed at home and went to my primary care doctor who prescribed 7.5-500mg of Lortab, I was taking the other meds 2 every 4 hours for pain and have been dropped to 1 Lortab every 4-6 hours, this is not controlling my pain, my doctor feels I have been taking the Percocet for too long, 2 months, he also took me off my Valium 10mg and changed it to Klonopin 1mg, half to 1 pill twice a day, I have been in a lot of pain for a few days now since changing dosages and feel anxious and depressed, is this acceptable or should I go talk to my surgeon again and have my meds chang...

Any of these drugs can make you itch depending on how used to them and how much you take. If you are young, do everything you can to stay away from these drugs, and if you're using them for recreation I beg you to stop. Now that I've said all that, some people need to have them. Even young people ... but they can be as dangerous as they are helpful if you are not very careful to come off them as soon as possible. I am 49 years old. I broke my back when I was 28 years old, and I started taking them. I've had surgeries and I've come off the pills for years at a time, but from the time of my first back surgery my spine developed little holes and massive calcium deposits (scar tissue) so that the bones became brittle and the nerves more and more impinged. After the third bac...

I was taking 5-6 10/325 percocet a day and my new dr gave me 90 1 3xs a day but I'm having trouble so was taking a percocet then 4 hrs later a norco and alternating like that today. Is it safe to take a percocet then a norco until the withdrawal gets better? ## Hello, Sherryl! How are you? The main concern here is the amount of Acetaminophen you are ingesting each day, more than the opiates, as hard as that may be to believe. In theory, you should still be within limits, which the FDA lists as being 3,000mgs a day, but it is always best to extra careful and not do this, unless your doctor approves. What type of withdrawal symptoms are you experiencing? The NIH lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, anxiety, depression, and diarrhea.

My pharmacy just switched generic brands again to KVK tech. I take the 15 mg pill. Are these effective for pain relief? I've tried other manufacturer's brands and they worked okay. Does anyone know about these K8 pills? I really hope the pharmacy stops changing generics each month. ## Hello, Dobie13! How are you? If you've not had a problem with the other generics, then it's very likely that this one will also work well for you, but the only thing you can do is try it and see. As to the pharmacy changing regularly, that is most likely going to continue. It will happen, whenever they need to restock and they will order whichever one has the cheapest price at that time. It's what is always done with generics, to help keeps costs as low a possible for their cash paying ...
