I get 180 Oxycodine 30mg each month. Is there some law that the doctor can't prescribe more than 1 per 4 hrs? That comes to 180 per month. I would like to take about 2 more per day. I don't have a pain management program, I guess I don't need one. What's the max the Doctor can prescribe? Or should I just ask him to add some dilaudid? Will the dilaudid compliment the OXY? Oh Yea, don't try this at home, I have stage 3 colon cancer. ## Hello, Harry! Sorry about the cancer and I hope all turns out well for you. Yes, there are limits on how much he can prescribe. He can write for the maximum daily amount for 30 days and that's the highest it can go. Learn more Oxycodone details here. However, there are other options, you could ask them about adding Dilaudid, as you m...

IFollowing my quadruple bypass I continued to take Oxycodone for the past 18 months. Is it ok to stop taking it or are there withdrawl dangers involved? Please note I entered my wrong email adress on my previous question. This is the correct one. ## The question here is what is the strength and how often a day are you taking Oxycodone? I am not a physician but I am in the medical field and do deal with medication on a daily basic. My advise is to talk with you physician regarding this. There is a possibility having taken this drug for 18 months, that you may experience some withdrawl. The other thing is if you are truly in severe pain (because this is the only reason you should be taking this medication). Then you probably still need it. However this drug is highly additive, and often ti...

I asked my Dr to take me off fentanol and increase my dose to 30mg oxycodone he has taken me off patch left break thru as is its not helping anymore not a strong enough dose anymore I don't know what else to say to him without sounding like I just want more pills. But I do its the only thing that gives any relief Any suggestions? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? Really, the only thing you can do is be honest with your doctor. Why did you want off of the Fentanyl? Were you having problems with it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Yes had most of those side effects. Plus I have muscular dystrophy I have my bad days. But I do have my better days and I wa...

My husband died from what is described as "the result of a toxic level of oxycodone, 200 ng/mL." How many pills could he have taken? ## Dear Chrissy, My sincere condolences for the loss of your husband. I think the answer to this question (re: how many pills he could've taken) may be subjective based on your husband's tolerance to opiates/opioids, the speed of his metabolism, when he took them relative to the timing of his death, etc. For a chronic pain patient who depends on daily oxycodone use for relief, I'd imagine that the number of pills could've been quite high. However, an individual with no drug history would likely be affected a magnitude greater even on lower doses. Unless you were able to factor in things like metabolism & the timing of his dose, ...

My mom recently passed for what the coroner said was mixed drug toxcitity. Her Oxycodone level was 3.4mg/L they said it should have been between 0.02 and 0.1. It is possible that my mom could have deliberately OD as she was in a lot of pain and depressed. However, I have heard about build up of oxycodone in the system over a period of time. With older bodies they aren’t able to metabolize the morphine? I’m trying to find some answers and would appreciate any insight. Is it possible that she had a build up over oxycodone over a period and then when she took her normal dose it tipped her over the edge? Any help would be appareciated pls. Thanks ## Hello, Nicola! How are you? I'm so very sorry for your loss. That is very rare and usually occurs in people with impaired renal...

which is stronger oxycodone-acetaminophen 10-650 mg oroxycodone 15mg 1mm rel?and are these same as generics you get because if insurence? ## The 15mg immediate release contains 15mgs of Oxycodone, it is the generic for OxyIR. The other one you mentioned contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 650mgs of Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Percocet. Thus, in reference to the Oxycodone, the immediate release one is stronger, however, which one is better for you depends on what condition is being treated. If your condition involves swelling that is contributing to the pain, then the one with the Acetaminophen will be more helpful, since it can help reduce inflammation. Side effects are similar to both, since they both contain Oxycodone and may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constip...

what dose it look like ## My husband has been prescribed oxycodone 5 mg. and oxycodone 15 mg. 4 times daily. When I took his prescription to be filled yesterday I was told that the government was not letting any of them go out right now (the 5 mg, that is). I got the 15 mg. What's going on? ## I know the generic manufacturer Ethex has issued a voluntary recall due to quality control concerns, however, I haven't heard of anything recalled by the government. It is possible that your pharmacy carried the ones made by Ethex and don't have any in stock right now, since they had to pull them from the shelves. I suggest calling other pharmacies in your area to find out if anyone else has it in stock, since there are other companies that make it. Has anyone else heard anything about...

I don't ever take anything stronger than aleve. 6 years ago I had surgery and they put me on hydrocodone. It just made me sleepy. Will I have a similar reaction to 5 mg oxycodone? ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? The Oxycodone is stronger, but it may also cause drowsiness as a side effect, most opiates do. The only way to find out is by trying it. The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I had knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago and they have me on 5mg oxycodone, 1 to 2 every 4 hours for pain. I also take 325mg Tylenol, 3 by mouth every 8 hours. How addictive is this? And how strong is a 5mg oxycodone p...

Is it ok to cut a v 48 11 in half? And also will it be ok to do normal activities after I take a half? ## Anyone??? ## Come on ## Hi kay, Usually if there is a score line (divid) embedded into the tablet, it means the manufacturer purposely made it so patients could easily cut it in half. Since this particular tablet is scored, I would personally feel safe doing so. Regarding your concerns about doing normal activities afterwards, there's really no way to know ahead of time how this medication is going to effect you (since it really can effect each person differently). Taking half seems like a good place to start though, if you want to assess how your body reacts/responds to a smaller dose of it, before committing to the full amount. Some people may feel like their abilities to perf...

I filled my Rx at a different pharmacy to save time and received this version of Percocet a333. It's terrible! The regular ones I receive (by a completely different manufacturer than this or Watson) work pretty well. My issue is just worsening so They just aren't effective. Then when I opened this bottle, noticed the texture was different. It was early morning and dark so I took my normal 1/2 so I can go back to sleep. Felt no relief like I normally feel enough to sleep comfortably. Had to double check to make sure I didn't put Tylenol in one of the bottles for travel. Took the other half. Feels as weak as Tylenol in regards to my level of relief (almost none). Took my next full dose at when enough time had passed. Still, very little relief. This isn't the first time this w

Are there oxycodone 15/325? I was shot and the 5/325 or 10mg oxycodone doesn't work. Any suggestions? ## No, the maximum dose available is 10/325mg. Oxycodone itself, without the accompanying Acetaminophen/Tylenol is available in higher doses, though. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Actually i take oxycodone and they are straight 15.

has a 224 imprinted on one side and a line on the other is this a 30 mg oxycodone ## There are numerous reports of this imprint being related to Oxycodone, although it has been debated on a related thread whether it is a 30 or 60 mg dose. Can you please reply with any other details which you might have? Such as the manufacturer, or country? This may be a newly emerging pill imprint. ## The blue pill you speak of is scored on one side, imprinted with 224 on the other, and contains 30mg of Oxycodone Hcl. This new brand is produced by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc and is distributed out of Cranbury, NJ. Be careful with this medication for it is known to be very powerful and dose-sensitive. ~ Dr. Oxy ~ ## THese new 224's are oxycodone 30mg time release that was pushed through by th...

This month I have been getting the pain relief from my Oxycontin as before. I am now informed that they hanged the formula from OC to OP and that the OP do not contain Narcan. What am I supposed to do when I am no longer getting the relief I had before. I don't want to have to go to the higher dose just to get the same relief. I had to fight the insurance company for what I was getting before. ## That is correct, the new Oxycontin OP does not contain Narcan, however, if someone tries to misuse the medication, it does turn into a gummy substance that retains its time released properties. This formulation change has resulted in many complaints that it does not work as well as the old formulation and causes off side effects. We have had many posts regarding this, for the past several m...

1500mg of oxy or roxi a day. Give or take 300mg ## @Mike, Your description is a bit vague, so I don't know what it is you might be referring to with that type of dosage in mind, but I've never heard of anyone taking 1500mgs of Oxycodone in a day! That sounds like it's far beyond the point of someone abusing it; maybe for someone who just wants to put an end to their life. Even for severe cancer patients, the average daily dose of controlled release Oxycontin can range from 20mg to 640mg per day. And for immediate release, doses higher than 30mg are rarely needed or prescribed. So I guess my question to you is, why would you recommend such a remotely high dosage of this drug knowing that very few people don't even take half of what you suggested? ## 1500mg a day is a deat...

Does anyone have any information about Oxytrex? I am currenly on oxycodone, 10 mg 3x a day. I want to start LDN (like 0.5 mg a day to start) but it appears I will have to completely come off the oxycodone first. But if theres a medication that combines he two maybe I don’t. My doctor tried 4.5 mgs on a patient and they had immediate withdrawals, but he isn’t sure that will happen to me on 0.5 mg. Does anyone have any links to the information from the drug trials, or what doses they are using?

I take prescribed oxycodone 5mg with v on one side and 48/10 on the other. Tonight I think I took two at the same time by mistake instead of my usual 1 mg lorazapan for sleep. Instead of drowzy i feel nausous a little dizzy and too alert. is this normal and will it pass? Thank you ## I see this was posted a few days, so probably a little late for the answer, but I will still post it for future reference. Yes, those effects can be normal, in some people, when they suddenly take a higher dose and they will wear off, either when you return to your normal dose or your body adjusts to the new dosage. And just so you know, in the future, doubling up on a narcotic like that does create the risk of overdose, so you should know the problematic signs to watch out for, which may include shallow br...

I used to take half an Oxycodone 5/500 as needed for cervical for neck pain and it worked fine. Last night I took a whole dose for the first time because of sever stomach pain from vomiting all day. I may have eaten something bad the day before but there was nothing more in my stomach and the pain kept me awake (but I was exhausted from the ordeal). My refill is Endocet 5-325. I guess I had an allergic reaction because my feet started burning in the middle of the night and I was going insane. I iced them in a pan of cold water and ice for as long as I could (30 seconds in/30 seconds out) until I finally felt numb and fell asleep. Woke up late afternoon to the burning itch in my feet - worse than before - and burning, itching palms as well. It was too late to go to my doctor or urgent ca...

I am taking oxycodone hcl 10 mg tablets. my pharmacist filled a new script with np 12 brand. I occasionally divide them to dose only as needed; which does not work very well. They dulled my pill cutters. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem? ## Hello, Dust! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. No, that is a new one that no one else has mentioned, at least not yet. Are you making sure to line it up and cut with the little scores that are on the tablet? That usually makes it easier, since that's where they're intended to be cut or broken. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation...

if i ad 1000 mgs of tylenol to my 15mg oxycodone will i get longer pain relief??more hours? ## If your doctor approves, it is only necessary to add a regular dose of Tylenol/Acetaminophen of 325mgs. It can help augment the action of Opiates for some people. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You also need to remember tylenol can be toxic to the liver and you should be closely monitoring tylenol daily intake. Most sites say 3000mg a day is,safe but that's not for long term use, short term pain relief only. My pain dr says it's more like 2000 for chronic patients on these med's for years and still could ...
