It is a battlefield to find someone that cares who prescribe something that actually helps but it is sad because it does not have to be that way. I've had 6 surgeries since 2010, and I'm having trouble getting meds to help with pain... either in S.C. Or N.C. I've been on roxy 15 and up to 5 a day and a 4mg zanaflex, but that really still wasn't enough. I need a dr. who will prescribe me 30's. Any help is much appreciated! ## Hello, John! Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, having them refer you to a pain management specialist will likely be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. I have been on pain medication (30 mgs. Oxycodone) among other Meds for over 5 years in New York City, Now I'm about to move to North Carolina because of the cost of living, and I really need someone to provide me with a Dr. where I can go to who will prescribe me the same Medications I have had a history with for 5 yrs. I take 2 oxycodone 10 mg every four hours, every day of my life for chronic pain. My urine test came back negative. Dr accused me of running out, I did not. Ever. Why did this happen? ## This happened to me twice. I finally did my own research and found the answer, including multiple government websites. Oxycodone does not break down to codeine when your body metabolizes the drug. The test used most often by doctors and hospitals DO NOT test for Oxycodone. They have to specifically ask for that test. They were going to stop giving me my scripts. I had one nurse call me and accuse me of selling my pills. After I schooled the doctor, he called me personally and apologized.
