This is a nightmare!! I suffer from multiple auto-immune diseases such as Connective Tissue Disease, R.A, Livedo, Raynauds, & traces of Lupus. All of which cause EXCRUTIATING PAIN!! On top of all of those, my body attacks itself 24/7!! Over the years the doctors have tried a ridiculous amount of different pain medications. I called it the 'medication game', & it was anything but fun!! Either there was minimal to no relief with them, or they made me feel awful! My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am a 51 y/o who lives in Florida, suffering from chronic back pain, and have been prescribed to take up to six 30mg oxycodone tablets a day for over two years by my Pain Management doctor. However, when I went to fill my prescription almost 4 weeks ago, my pharmacy told me their distributor had stopped shipping oxycodone to Florida pharmacies. I too, like many of the posters on this forum, have a legitimate script for 30mg Oxy's. Because of "whatever" the real reason (Ex. DEA, Quota's. FL Shortage) I cannot get this script filled. I've been lucky the last 2 months because my doc switched me to 15's, which seem to be a little more accessible for some reason. However, this isn't an option today due to my doc being on vacation... I have used oxycodone for years, rsd, and started the brand again several years ago during shortage. they worked so well I was able to drop from 240 to 180 in two months. Xanodyne 30mg. They sold to Mallencroft and are very expensive now. I tried a generic- Activis recommended by pharmacy. Not only did they NOT WORK they gave me severe anxiety - the same feeling I got when they tried to give me anti depressants for pain. Horrifying side effects- I was extremely anxious, had paranoia and negative thoughts, afraid to be alone. The pharmacy replaced with the brand but it took five days to get back to baseline with pain and psyche. I am terrified now of the generic but the brand are over 1,000 a month, half w/insurance. I have been on Oxycodone 30 mg for several years and from several manufacturers. Recently I was given 30mg from a manufacturer called Caraco. I was taking up to two at a time followed by a third in a hour because I was not getting any relief. I spoke to my dr and explained I was going thru withdrawals and getting no relief from my pain with the meds that have always worked in the past. He went ahead and prescribed 15 mg of oxycodone so I could get a different manufacturer due to my pharmacy saying there was a shortage of Oxycodone they were not able to get any of the 30 mg due to a shortage of the drug. For approx the past six months I have had even more problems than usual filling my morphine ir 30 mg. twice there have been drug shortages. I need to change to an equivilant medication like roxicodone,or something similar. What dose of oxycodone is equal to 4 X msir 30mg per day??? I take a toal of 120 a month, in additon to taking a low dose of methadone as well. Have been prescribed Oxycotin 80 mg. two times daily and Oxycodone 30 mg for breakthrough pain - 5-7 daily. Will see Dr. tomorrow. Please tell me what is best substitute for the Oxycodone (have Oxycontine).
