Oxycodone 30 New Formula

Has anybody heard of M 30 oxycodone being reformulated? My mother has been on oxycodone for quite a while now and recently had an rx filled and had a few M's that almost instantly swell up and turn into mush when she takes them. They are the same diameter as the other M's but alot thicker and from what she says, they aren't as effective as the thinner M's. Any info would help, thanks. ## Hello, JOTO! can anyone tell me if you can take oxycodone Hcl 30mg by breaking it in half. I have them for chronic pain. It is a blue round pill with a V on one side and 4812 on the other. The pill is scored on one side. It seems to be a high dose for one time. I would like to break it and only try one half the first time but I dont know if it is an IR or CR tablet. I don't want to do anything that is dangerous, just need pain relief. There is also the possibility of raising the dosage, or switching to a time released formulation that may give you better pain control. Have been taking 30 mg of oxycodone. Went to a different pharmacy to fill. It is a blue pill the only marking on the pill is K 9. Normally will split the pill with a pill cutter. It tends to shatter when I do this the other pills normally would split clean. Relief is not as effective as the other prescription. Wondering if the new pharmacy gave me the wrong dosage. I just moved to ATL from AZ for new job. Ive been on these meds for years. I have heard that oxycodone IR will no longer be on the market in the U.S. - Is this true? Someone said they heard on the news that oxycodone immediate release 30mg tablets will be off the market within 6 months and I'm just wondering if anyone else has been told this as well? ## No, not that I am aware of in anything I've read recently. I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. Cutting or breaking the tablet could result in your getting too much of the medication, at once, which could result in overdose. The new formulation is supposed to help prevent this, but the danger is always there. If you need a lower dosage, you should speak to your doctor about prescribing it in a lower dose or different formulation. I was able to reach this conclusion after someone else identified their round pink "ON 20" pill as Canadian OxyNEO (20mg). The "ON" was also underlined on theirs as well. Are you referring to medications that contain just Oxycodone, by itself? So far, I haven't found anything stating that any particular dosages or formulations are being pulled off the market. The only recent change that I am aware of is the new formulation of Oxycontin that was released by Purdue to help prevent abuse. Can you post back with any more details on this?
