round and light blue pill with A 215 on one side ## First off, I would like to state that there is no medication called RoxiContin! The name brands are Roxicodone, Roxicet and Oxycontin. This tablet contains 30mgs of Oxycodone, generic for Roxicodone. This means it is a regular release tablet, were as Contin would signify a time released medication. this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. I bet they will be pulled & back to the old ones before the year is out ## Pharmacies are allowed to continue to dispense the original product, until their stocks runs out, then all will only be able to get the new Oxycontin OP. need information ## This is a new product from Purdue Pharma and is replacing the original Oxycontin. It has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse, by retaining its time released properties, even if someone tries to alter it. Mom borrowed a bunch of my MS Contin and repaid me with Oxycontin when her script came in-- but today my Doc sprang a UA on me when I went in to get my meds. I took 1/2 of an 80 mg this a.m. when I woke up and then resumed my regimen of MS Contins. I took her Oxy's for two days straight before that. Will they differentiate the meds? I have a spondylolisthesis at L-5. My pain management doctor wants to switch me from 10/325 Oxycodone to ms contin. How much ms contin would give me the same pain relief? ## Hello Bob! gg235 ## If the pill is pink and really says GG 235 then it IS NOT oxycontin, rather it is generic promethazine 50mg, generic for Phenergan. It is an antihistamine typically used to control moderate to severe nausea among other things. Side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, among other side effects. ## Also, there are several generic forms of oxycontin 40mg now so it would be hard to pull up each picture. I can tell you that each company is trying to keep the same color as the original, kind of a yellow color. I have taken OC 40 for years, My friend called me and said she filled her scrip with the new OP, She hates them and crys over her old medicine. Walgreens has all old OC, filled mine yesterday. ## They can continue to fill prescriptions with the old product, until their supplies run out, then all pharmacies will have the new Oxycontin OP. I am very sorry to read of what your friend is going through. She should report her problems to both Purdue Pharma and the FDA. The more problem reports, they more attention they will pay to them. Can anyone help me understand these OPs? The whole pill is plastic, right? I mean, unlike MS Contins where the coating is time released. So my question is-If the whole thing is a solid time release pill, why can’t I cut it in half? I am not trying to abuse it. My doctor made me switch from 5mg instant relase oxycodone to 10 mg oxycontin and it’s way too strong. It makes me feel sick and way too medicated to drive. It is not as strong as Oxycodone, so you would require a higher dosage. If you were taking 80mgs of Oxycontin, then you'd need 120mgs of MS Contin. One year ago my pain mgmt doctor put me on Oxy OP but it ripped up my gut. Then he switched me to Opana ER and it too caused horrible gut pain. I read that the new formulation was basically some kind of plastic or polymer to keep it from being misused by people who want to abuse it. Because I could not tolerate these medicines my doctor decided to just let me continue to use hydrocodone 10/325 for several months since it worked fine for me. Now he's telling me I have to go back on either the Oxy Op or Opana ER, or another one (can't remember the name of it but it starts with a N) and use hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. My man used oxycontin fairly responsibly up until the last 8 months. Now, when he gets his prescription filled, he stays up all night doing God-knows-what. The next morning, I've found things in places that make no sense. He breaks and loses things. Often, he continues to carry on this way for a few days and nights. If he sits down, his eyes close and he fades away, but his arms and legs continue to constantly move and reach for nothing visible. He's gone on this way for up to a week at a time, then he'll finally crash into a sleep that lasts for days, waking only to take his oxy. He doesn't seem to remember most of this.
