So there is generic Oxicontin. What is it called? I am prescribed 20mg of this 3 times day. What is good manufacturer of this cause I heard so many negative effects from these? I take oxycodone for breakthrough. I have been asking so many times and only hear about open a. Please tell me what I should ask my doctor for. Thanks ## Hi Sue, There is no generic Oxycodone Extended-Release that's currently available (at least in the US). Only brand-name "Oxycontin" & "Xtampza ER" fit this role for the time being. There may be other brands as well, but in the US those are the only two I'm presently aware of. RE: "What is it called?" - If there ever was a generic "Oxycontin", it would simply be called "Oxycodone Extended-Release". RE: "What...

I would like to know the non generic name of oxycontin. I just had a fussion on the L3 through L5 and a compression procedure on both sides of my lower lumbar. The doctor also prescribed Oxycodone /APAP5mg-325mg tablest (2 every 4 hours) I take the Oxycontin twice daily (1 pill) ## Oxycontin is the brand name, it is a time released formulation of the narcotic analgesic Oxycodone. The name brand for the other one you are taking would be Percocet, it contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen. They are both narcotics and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness. Is there anything else I can help with?

OC ONE SIDE OTHER 80 GREEN ROUND PILL ## I can't post a picture for you, due to copyright reasons, however, I can confirm that a pill meeting this description, with those markings is an 80mg Oxycontin tablet. This is the original Oxycontin product. Purdue has recently changed the Oxycontin formulation, to help prevent abuse and the new pills have an OP on them and they have discontinued manufacture of ones with the OC on them. Oxycontin is a narcotic pain reliever, so common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Are there any questions or comments?

I've noticed many ppl believe that MS CONTIN is connected to OXICONTIN ! FYI, MS CONTIN IS MORPHINE (in generic form ) ! I figured I let u know this LIL tid bit of info, so that it may help at least a few ppl ! Hope this is helpful 2 u ! MAY UR PAIN BE MINIMAL ! ## Thanks for the helpful post! That is correct, there are two different narcotic medications. The Oxycontin contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone and the MS Contin contains a time released formulation of Morphine. The Contin is just used to denote that they are time released. Since they are both narcotics, they share a similar side effect profile, which can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments?

my med had oc on it for oxicontin but now it has op. What does that stand for ## I am not certain exactly what it stands for, however, it has replaced the original Oxycontin with the OC marking. Oxycontin OP cannot be crush, chewed or broken down. If someone tries, it basically turns into a gummy goo, that is supposed to only dissolve in stomach acid and retain its time released properties. Side effects remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Has anyone out there heard of a brand new formulation called Oxycontin RF I got a letter from Purdue( I have been bugging them forever- so they have my address in records.) The letter was addressed to a person of the same last name as me, but different first name, and it got sent ...

Does oxicontin 40mg has side effect I'm taking it now and how can I stop taking it does have any withdraws please advise ## Dear Rv, yes there r withdrawals from OxyContin. OxyContin is a opiate narcotic. It depends on how long u have been on them and how many u take. That will decide how bad the withdrawals will b and how long they may last. I was on Oxys 4 almost 10 years and had 2 go on suboxone due 2 bad withdrawals and pain due 2 medical problems. ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And Cats68 has covered the withdrawal aspect. Are there any other questions ...

Sue ## If anyone has info on substitute for Oxicontin ER 20mg 3 x day please suggest. This med does not work and I am afraid of fillers. They r dangerous. Would MS contain ER be better? I am seeing my neurologist on 19th. My insurance covers this med. Any suggestions would be helpful. Sue ## It's OxyContin and it doesn't work probably because it's time released. Just moved to riverside c.a and can't find a pharmacy that will fill my script in extreme pain please help ## How are you checking to see if they have them in stock? If you are just calling the pharmacies, then you aren't likely to get a straight answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a legitimate customer with a need, or a potential thief. Thus, the only way to really find out is by actually going to the pharmacy, with your prescription in hand.

i now now take oxycodone 30 mg 6 times aday my dr wants to decrease to 4 times a day but add oxycontin 30mg twice a day. i am very leery of this. i have astma and hypertension. shoud i be concerned? I am 61 ## Hi, Nancy! I totally understand your fears, playing with any medication when you have serious medical conditions is terrifying. Oxycontin actually contains the same medication you are currently taking, it's just a time released formulation of Oxycodone, so you really wouldn't be changing anything. Your doctor is just trying to help you get better pain control. The tablets you're currently taking are regular release, which means that all of the Oxycodone in them is released and starts working in your body about 15 to 20 minutes after you swallow them. With the time rele...

are these two pills ok together or is there a side efect ## I recently found 4 little yellow tablets in my medicine cabinet .. no label on Rx bottle. These tabs are approx 3/8 " in diameter and have a "50" one side (presume it's 50mg) and the other side either has "O-M" . Can you tell me what type of medication this is so that I may look it up and read into it. Maybe my memory will come back to me. ## One of my college boyfriends was playing with Seconal Pulvules, which I took for sleep.(I had some of my meds out because I had just picked them up.) He asked me what they were. I told him Seconal is secobarbital, a powerful sleeping pill. He said, "Well, I just took three." I've fracture my T-Spine in 5 separate placesThe pain isunbearable. Just want to know if they still make the rapid release Opana or Oxicontin or will they be manufacturing them again. I cant wait 6 or 8 hours for relief, my blood pressure reaches 190/115 from the pain. I can understand all the drug abuser epidemic but what about people like myself who need our meds to have any quality of life. It's simply not fair ## Hello, Nick! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. Yes, they do still manufacture the regular release formulations of both of these opiates. The FDA classifies them as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
