Hi there, My dad is 58yrs old, he's an epilepsy patient for last 30+ years..Right from inital stage till date he has been using sodium valproate 400mg twice a day. Recently a few weeks back he's affected with epilepsy (fits) after nearly two years gap. As a common practice we have consulted the doctor and has make him to undergo all the test (ECG/EPG) etc tests. As a result the doctor whom we consulted has advised to stop using sodium valproate 400mg and replace it with Oxetol 300mg and assured this should take care of the issue. Now all im worried here is, with my dad being 58yrs old, will changing the medicine now have any kind of impact? Will he be safe? Please advise, im pretty worried about his health... Dear Sir, I am ananth . I am under anti depresent since 1 992 like Clofranil . Subsequently in 2004 one day i taken over dose Tini i.e Tinidozole for my GITI which by next morning just numbness in my face . for which i was presicrbed tegretol and later to oxetol 300 . since 2005 i am under oxetol 300 per day in night . i am sufferring regularly from various side effects like GITI , Upperespiratory Track infection , improper Bowl movement fatigue , dizzizness etc.. i am otherwise had never any epilepsy attck till date. Doctor advised me to stop it on tappering basis . But some how i am unable to do so as i feel restless when i stop it next day. and uncomforatble in stomach . Offcourse i know its due to addiction. But i am scared please advise further.

Sir, My son is 9 years old now. He got sudden epileptic attack when he was 4 years old. Inspite of immediate admission in Hospital and rigerous treatment, he had continuous seizures for every 5 minutes. Nothing has been diagnosed in 5 MRIs and doctors say there is no structural diffect and having functional problem in EEG. He last all the activities slowly, including vision and hearing. He was in infusion of Midazolam 10ml/hr for 20 day to control seizures. Was in hospital for 105 days. He was an many anti-convulsions like Topiramate, Gaurdinal, piracetem and more. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes, drowsiness, blurred vision and fatigue. There is no way of knowing whether or not your seizures will return, you'll really just have to take the medication, as prescribed and then see what happens. I am 72 years old and has been prescribed oxetol-150 by a neurologist recently. I would like to know the side-effects of taking oxetol-150. Below is my case history - I'm feeling shivering around the area of heart for the last 6-8 weeks which spreads to the upper part of body and limbs and continues for 90 minutes to 150 minutes. This phenomenon leads to thumping in chest, rapid exhalation and giddiness. If this symptom starts when I am asleep, I get awakened feeling very uneasy and I get up and sit on bed till it subsides.
