I was perscribed vicodin 750 es and then norco was told they were same and also available under other names. Is this true, and what other names do they come in? ## Yes, both Vicodin and Norco contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone as the active ingredients. Another name it is sold under would be Lortab and it is also available as a generic, so that would be listed as just the active ingredients. There are also a few different dosage strengths available. Learn more Vicodin details here. What you were first prescribed, Vicodin ES means an extra strength formulation of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone and the larger number, like the 750 you listed is the amount of Acetaminophen in them. It helps the narcotic to work better. The Hydrocodone itself is only available up to a maximum of 10mgs. Is ...

Hello. I am going into my 6th month since I've started taking hydrocodone. When I received my last refill, I noticed the medication was different. I assumed it was just a different "brand" and thought nothing of it. To shorten the dramatic details, I noticed my vision was getting blurry, shortness of breath, HIGH FREQUENCY constant ringing (?), and honestly my pain is still horrible. It's almost like I have a slight "head buzz" with disoriented thinking. Thus, I looked up the brand name of my previous pill and the new one. The ONLY DIFFERENCE I found is the "inactive ingredients"; my current one containing "crospovidone". Could this be the issue?! I KNOW if I speak to my pharmacist that I will probably just get a run around explanation and my doct...

What would the name be on a bottle of liquid hydrocodone for being 5 mg ## Hi Carol, The only brand names I'm aware of are Lortab Elixir, Liquicet, and Tussigon. However, Lortab Elixir and Liquicet contain a combination of Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen; and not just Hydrocodone by itself. Tussigon also comes with Homatropine methylbromide, which is added to discourage overdosing. One other brand name containing the same ingredients as Tussigon is Hycodan, but this has reportedly been discontinued in the US. What brand name did you receive from your doctor?

I've only been out of pills for a day, and I'm having withdrawals (was trying to tough it out a little longer, big mistake). Until my Rx comes through, any suggestions? I've taken some Xanax just to calm down a bit. *Have been on Hydro for awhile now due to issues with my feets if that matters. And also, I've been wondering if anyone has ever had any luck ordering hydrocodone or oxycodone online? I never tire of hearing a good scam story lol, but has anyone had success (no need to tell company names!)? ## If you are running out early, you should really discuss the problem with your doctor, to see if they can adjust your dosage or dosing interval and prevent such problems. Benzodiazepines are frequently given to help with minor withdrawal symptoms, however, they don't...

Has anyone found out if Lortab or Lorcet is a better hydrocodone option for chronic pain, if you're one of MANY people that have had BAD reactions to many of the defective, generic 10-325 Norco? Serious answers from chronic pain patients, please. ## They all contain Hydrocodone as the active ingredient, with Acetaminophen. Thus, there won't be much of a difference between them, they are all different names for the same opiate. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. What type of bad reactions have you experienced? Can you please post back and clarify?

Is Mallinckrodt m367 10-325 the same as Qualitest 3601 10-325? ## Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference is that they are manufactured by different companies. Additionally, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects pr...

I am being prescribed compounded hydrocodone 20mg, the pharmacy I have been using went way up on price, 2 times. Where in Houston can I get this prescription filled at a reasonable price? ## Hello, TC! How are you? The best idea I have for you is to call your nearby large hospitals and ask them for the names of local compounding pharmacies. You can then get in touch with those pharmacies for more information. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any ideas?

can I safely take hydrocodone 10 325 with 800 mg ibuprofen-I've been on hydro for years and I'm ha ving alot of pain now ## Yes you can take both. Ibuprofen is for inflammation. If taking it helps, you need to tell your dr. ## Hi Willy, Sorry to hear about the extent of your pain. From what I've found they actually do make a combination of Hydrocodone + Ibuprofen under the following brand names: Vicoprofen, Reprexain, and Ibudone. Perhaps you could ask your doctor about trying one of these as an alternative to the 325mgs of Acetaminophen, if you have any concerns about it's potential cumulative effects on liver health with long term use? Overcoming the pain is what matters, but I just try to encourage the safest methods possible if it can be helped. None the less, I hope...

Since we learned that "hydro" means water, what does "hydro" mean in the drug "hydrocodone?" All drugs are made with some water, aren't they? A student wanted to know why? Thank you. ## Hello, Fran! How are you? As explained by the FDA, a drug name is used to denote its chemical makeup and its drug category. The generic name, in this case Hydrocodone, which is an opiate, is chosen by the USAN (United States Adopted Names). There is also an agency to name them in Japan and other countries, though in many cases, they will keep a universal name, if possible. The actual chemical name of any given drug is far, far too long to use as it's actual name on the market, so what they name it results from a kind of shortening of that chemical name. As an example, here...

I have been taking Hydrocodone 5-325 s, by mallinckrodt for a few years now for back pain , they work really well, I take 2 at a time . My pharmacist switched to Qualitest and it was a nightmare . I took one of those and had a migraine headache the whole day , along with breathing problems, rash , and nausea , bad stuff . I did some research and manufacture does matter . Found a place that has Mallincroft . ## Hi Ilene, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Qualitest version. I'm glad you were able to find a place that has your preferred manufacturer in stock. If I had to make an assumption based on your description, I'd say the binders and fillers could've been the root cause of such side effects. When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn...

7.5-750 Vicodin or 5-325 Percocet --- Which is stronger? ## Hello, Jan! How are you? These are actually equivalent. So, neither is really stronger, it just depends which works better for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Vicodine IS Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is the name of opiate found in many different types of pain meds. Same as Oxycodone is the type of opiate found in percocets, tylox, roxicets, etc. Lortab, vicodine, hydrocodone, and many others are same just different names. It's the mg and the other stuff in pain pills that is what's important. ## Obviously percoce...

Are the doses for Lortab and Hydrocodone identical? I.E.: does 5/325 Hydrocodone = 5/325 Lortab, etc? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? Yes, they both contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so they are the same. There are several different brand names for this combination medication, some of them are Lortab, Vicodin, Norco and Lorcet. The lower number (5) is the amount of the narcotic Hydrocodone that's in it and the higher number (325) is the amount of Acetaminophen. Learn more Lortab details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What does the loratab 10 have on it.I eas perscribed them and they were oblong w...

How can I the generic Vicodin. I want my RX to state "generic for Vicodin" It used to say, Hydrocodone/Apap 5/500. Now when I get my refills it says Hydroco/Apap generic for Norco? Told they are the same so why do I need to take the Norvo in larger doses (2 pills each time) to get the same relief from one generic Vicodin? There must be something my Dr is writing on the prescription that causes this to occur. Thank you for your help ## Hello, Grandma52! How are you? Vicodin actually contained more Acetaminophen than the Norco does, it was available with amounts including 500mgs and over. However, last year, all of the tablets with the higher doses of it were removed from the market. Thus, Vicodin and its generics are no longer available. The maximum dose of Acetaminophen availabl...

Are there any pain meds made with a 500mg of acetaminophen & 10mg of hydrocodone or oxycodone ect ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Lortab, Lorcet, Norco and Vicodin were all brand names for medication combinations that contained Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. There are none that contain more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose, now. The ones with the higher amounts were all removed from the market. That includes the Oxycodone combinations, as well as all other combination prescription drugs that contain Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Percocet has up to 10 mg of...

please tell me the differenc between these 2 drugs. ## Though the difference is rather irrelevant now in most countries, I'll still cover the basics, since someone else may be curious. The Propoxyphene with Acetaminophen was a generic for Darvocet, it was a very mild narcotic pain reliever. Learn more Darvocet details here. The Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen is a much more potent narcotic pain reliever that's often better known by the brand names Vicodin, Norco and Lortab. Both risk being habit forming and have similar side effect profiles that may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more Lortab details here. However, due to the risk of cardiac dangers and the inordinate numbers of overdose fatalities, Propoxyphene and all of its relatives ha...

What would you say this Tylenol 3 is the equivalent to: Hydrocodone /5-500 mg. or 7.5 - 750mg. or 10 - 1000 mg? OR Vicodin, OR LORTAB (all in the same miligrams as listed above)? ## Hello, Neet! How are you? First, I'd like to state that Vicodin, Lortab, Norco, Lorcet and Hydrocodone/APAP are all the same medication. They are just different names for a narcotic analgesic that contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen. And just for everyone's information, the ones with those higher amounts of Acetaminophen are no longer available on the U.S. market. Now, that said, the Codeine in Tylenol 3 is actually a very weak narcotic. The tablet you've asked about is manufactured by Vintage Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 30mgs of Codeine and 300mgs of Acetaminophen. 30mgs of...

looking for a full list of pain medications ## I'm not sure how complete this list may be, but posted below are quite a few prescription pain medications I came across (as of 2012). Some of these drugs could've been discontinued or repackaged under different brand names since then: 1. Codeine: Tylenol 3, Fioricet with codeine, hundreds of codeine-containing cough syrups 2. Hydrocodone: Vicodin, Vicoprofen, Lortab, Lorcet, Norco, Polytussin, Tussionex, TussiCaps, Hycodan, Endal HD (FDA recently pulled many of the HC-containing cough syrups off the market) 3. Oxycodone: Percocet, Percodan, Oxycontin, Tylox, Endocet, Roxicodone 4. Hydromorphone: Dilaudid, Dilaudid-HP (high potency), Palladone, Hydromorph-contin, Dilaudid Cough Syrup 5.
