I have been taking Lexamil 20mg for 4months, I realize weight gain can be a side effect. However ive picked up 9kg in such a short space of time. I also take trepiline at night? Is this normal. I was prescribed Lexamil in France after he death of my husband, and found them to be a great help. Since coming to England I cannot get it from my G P. What is the equivalent in England. ## I'm don't know what the name brand would be there, but the active ingredient/generic would be Escitalopram, it's an SSRI antidepressant. Hi, I have been on Lexamil 10mg for 2 years and then about a hear ago my dr increased the dosage to 20mg, which I took for 6 months. However I have stop taking the meds approx 6 months ago. I am a very bad pill drinker and then to forr. I feel that I struggle more with anxiaty than depression and rather preferred Azor/Xanor SR. Would you recommend me going back oono Lexamil? Hi, My doctor has prescribed 10 mg lexamil for me and I havnt started taking it yet. I've been suffering with anxiety for a while and taking .5 mg alzam and 7.5 mg zopiclone to manage the condition. However the last 3 months ive been having tight chest pains, been for ecgs xrays etc, all clear..doc prescribed muscle relaxant which works a little bit but I find if i take half a zopiclone it really eases off the tightness immediately. Yes, many of them can cause some weight gain, however, taking on pill is not enough to have that effect. I'm on lexamil 10mg for 5 days now and I'm feeling terrible! I've got 24/7 nausea. The one day I had diarrhea and the next day everything was blurry the whole day and I was so dizzy, I hallucinated. I'm sleeping all the time, I shake a lot as well. They say it will go on for 3 weeks until it actually works. I drank on one day more than 7 nausea pills and nothing works. ## Hello, Hayley! I have depression and severe anxiety attacks that happens in the mornings. Dr prescribed Lexamil 5mg for the first 10 days and thereafter 10mg together with Urbanol 10mg to be taken together in the mornings. What can I do to prevent weight gain while using Lexamil? I am also taking birth control which adds to the possibility of gaining weight. ## Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant and it isn't known to cause significant weight gain. Compared to taking an oral contraceptive, you are more liable to gain weight from the birth control, rather than the Lexamil. However, you can help keep any changes, from either medication, under control by watching your diet to make sure you aren't eating far more than you should, stick with lower fat foods and get plenty of exercise. Hi Guys, I've started on Lexamil and Urbanol and noticed a spike in my heart rate. I normally get an average of 100 - 120 and max of 160bpm in my cycling workouts but now see I've jumped to a max 240bpm and average of 190pbm this week. Im 38, 86kg , and rather fit.
