I need to find a doctor that doesn't have a problem prescribing Xanax. I'd also like to find a doctor who prescribes pain meds without the run around. Please Help!! ## When it comes to the 'run around' as you call it, they really have no choice in the matter, there are very strict government regulations in place that they have to adhere to in order to keep their license to practice medicine. And due to the new regulations, if you require a medication like Xanax, as well as pain management, you'll most likely need to see a different doctor for each issue. There has been a lot of concern about improper prescribing and over prescribing, so the DEA is trying to transition general practitioners and surgeons away from treating conditions that they haven't been speciall...

suffering from cronic headaches and neck pain due to a variety of events ## looking for a new dr. who will be willing to give me the same meds as I was taking before I moved here, they are narcotics that I take on a regualar basis for headaches and neck pain, hydro codone 10 to be exact, where I came from it is tough to find a dr. who will help you, how will I start over in Portland to find a helpful Dr.? ## I'd suggest looking for someone that specializes in pain management and making sure that they get a full copy of your medical records from your prior doctor. In many cases, if you go in asking for a specific medication they will see it as drug seeking behavior, but they can see what works for you as documented by other physicians, they are more likely to prescribe accordingly. I need to find a doctor that doesn't have a problem prescribing Xanax. I'd also like to find a doctor who prescribes pain meds without the run around. Please Help!! ## Unfortunately, doctors don't have a choice but to be very careful and strict about prescribing such medications. There are regulations in place to enforce this, they have to have valid reasons for prescribing and that can include having to give you the run around, such as having to see other doctors and have tests done. If they don't, they run the risk of losing their license to practice medicine. Since Xanax and narcotic pain medications can also be habit forming and very dangerous if used improperly, there are other factors that doctors have to be cautious about. He prescribed to me for 2 yrs and refered me to a pain clinic due to pain issues and the pain doc discontinued my methadone and used dillaudid. I have recently moved to ontario oregon and cant make the 65 mile drive regularly and most all the docs I have seen refuse to prescribe pain meds sometimes period. I am up front and talk about my past openly but dont feel I should suffer with so much pain. I have less quality of life and I feel my kids and fa...

Is it legal to be treated for chronic pain in Oregon if you live in Washngton State where it is so very difficult and the patient is treated without dignity? I have been prescribed schedule 2 meds for chronic pain for 9 years, am over 60 yrs old, and am on Social Security Disability for chronic pain and other conditions requiring monthly Dr visits. I want to move to Wash for the rest of my senior years but can't endure their regulations? ## Hello, Kindly! How are you? To be prescribed controlled substances for pain, all involved parties, such as you, your pharmacy and your doctor; will all need to be located within a certain radius of each other to make sure that the prescriptions can be validated and etc. I'm not sure what regulations you're worried about in WA making it mo...

Is hydrocodone acetaminophen 10 325, a schedule II controlled substance, under current law, 5-2-2014 ## Not under Federal Law, but it will be later on this year. Unless you live in New York State, if you do, all hydrocodone combinations meds have been a Schedule II there since February 2013. ## I live in Oregon, and have been taking Norco (schedule III), and Valium (schedule IV) for a while for back, knee, elbow, etc. pain. My doctor has me come to him monthly for the prescription. I am under the impression that schedule III and schedule IV controlled drugs can be prescribed with refills. Is that true? Am I being ripped off? ## Mike-your doctor is covering his license and preventing addiction for you. As of this year, I'm fairly sure we ALL will go monthly. My doctor who is a pain m...
