U.S. Senate has succumbed/conspired with health providers to practically eliminate severe or chronic pain med for the elderly. Some 16,800 deaths of young drug mixing punks & the cost of providing these meds; has caused the low level intelligence & greedy health providers to furiously lobby (bribe) the U. S. Senate to order a 40% decrease in severe/chronic meds for the elderly; not for young drug mixing "punks" because they will mix something else. It has been shown that the Senate members have been drunk or half drunk in decisions like this. Proof of the aforesaid? here it is: the Senate ignores 1.6 millions of deaths & or severe mutilations due to alcohol. Senators have never done heavy strenuous work that by the time you are 65/70 years old, everything hurts to a ...

My friend took a subutex at 6:30 this morning after not touching opioids since 5pm the night before. She had only been taking a small amount recently (so I'm told) but for a long period of time. After an hour she began to get the chills and sweats but nothing else like that full blown WD that is completely unbearable. Anyway worried about working in a few hours she had relapsed about an hour after the Tex.. I told her if the first one didn't help to wait an hour and take another; obviously she didn't listen so now what? Do we let the opioids run through their course then give her another Tex? Or just give her the Tex now that it's been almost 2 hrs? If not, how long till she can have another and is it the opioids making her worse? I thought that these would block just li...

I need help. I'm getting a vivitrol shot in 2 days. I have taken opioids up until last night. I want information from anyone that has actually taken opioids up until around 65 hours before their shot, and if so, what were the side effects? Please I need help. I'm scared but I also need the shot. ## Yes, you need to be in full withdrawal, before getting the shot, or there is a risk of it putting you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, which may include seizures, according to NIH warnings. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. It would be best to make sure your doctor is aware of the last time you took opiates, to make sure it is safe for you to be given this shot. Are you on any other medications? ## Hi, i don't know much about viv...

Hello. I'm needing to take tramadol & co-codamol, but have bad constipation. Any thoughts on sticking to tramadol only maybe? Best wishes. ## You can discuss that option with your doctor, it really depends on what works best for you to alleviate your pain. However, in many cases, opioid related constipation can be alleviated by just increasing ones fiber intake through foods, or a fiber supplement. Along with the risk of being habit forming, these medications may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## You can get an over the counter stool softener or ask your doctor to prescribe one and make sure you are drinking lots of water. That should alleviate your constipation.

So lately I've been seeing A LOT of people saying how they have changed the strength and color and pharmaceutical brand of their 10mg Percocet from the good yellow ones that worked great to now these white ones that are pure garbage! Luckily I don't get those I get oxycodone 30mg IR and oxymorphone 30mg ER witch have yet to be tampered with. Yes I know it's only a matter of time before they get to changing those to. Although I have been hearing about them supposedly changing them 7yrs ago to be tamper proof from my pain doctor and so far thank GOD they haven't touched those yet. The government is putting pressure on the Pharmaceutical companies and or are in bed with them to change the formula to make them weaker and or not work at all even as far as a placebo. They thin...

So I've been doing some research and came across these new drugs out now or coming soon. Just wanted anyone's opinion on them. Or if you have tried them, what do you think? 1: Vantrela ER (Hydrocodone Bitartrate) 2: Arymo ER (Morphine Sulfate) 3: Probuphine (rod-shaped subdermal implant that last for up to 6 months & costs anywhere from 1,700-5,000 bucks for six months worth) 4: Belbuca (Buprenorphine) doses run from 75-900 and costs run from 250-700 bucks There's one more but it does not have a name yet. It's just called NKTR-181. So if anyone has any info on these please share your thoughts and or if you tried any of them please let me know how they worked or didn't work. Or if I left some out or you heard of other ones I didn't mention please feel free to ...

Mpathia in RI: I have read so many things and there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. Yes, ALL of you should read the new regulations, because the next time you have an appt. with your PCP or even pain centers ( they are a joke nyway... In RI, "pain Management is considered as Cortisone shots & maybe Lidocaine, etc. These meds become ineffective over time & can cause irepairable damage. What is the alternative? According to the guidelines all people on pain killers are addicts. I am not going to dispute that, however, there is no other options you can take. Tylenol is about all you will get. You MUST read the new guidelines because your doctor is NOT. The regulations are so strict and complicated, doctors prefer to just rid themselves of chronic pain patien...

So I just took my dose of liquid methadone and drank 3 cups of Grapefruit juice. A couple hrs later I pretty much blacked out on and off for a few hours. Has anyone else have this happen to them? Also I'm about to take my daily 60- 80mgs of oxymorphone ER. If I drink another couple cups of Grapefruit juice is that gonna happen to me again or does it only pertain to Methadone? Any and all info is appreciated thank you ## Rawdog I hope you are not trying to get f***ed up off your meds bro? Just saying bcuz that's what part of the problem that we have now and why the public have such a negative perception of methadone patients. They see some of us nodding off on the streets and in public places and think it's the methadone that has the person like that but it's the other dru...

How long do I need to be off Contrave prior to having a significant orthopedic procedure which I know I will need opioid pain meds for after? ## Hi Cherlyn, The half life of Contrave's active ingredient 'Naltrexone' and its metabolite (naltrexol) are reported to be about 4 hours and 13 min. However for the simplicity of keeping track of time, I'd probably just average it at 4 hours. And you'd probably want to double check with your doctor/surgeon on this - but I've heard from some medical professionals that it can take up to 3-5 half lives for a medication to leave your system. IF this really is the case (and I know everyone is different), 5 half-lives for Naltrexone would add up to 20 hours (or pretty much a full a day). 4 hours is a relatively quick half-life c...

Is it safe to take 1 oral 15mg morphine ER 12 hours apart, and also take 10/325 oxycodone/acetaminophen, staggered with the morphine, PRN? ## They are often prescribed that way to help get better control of severe pain, but of course, it depends on the person's opiate tolerance and should only be done with a doctor's approval. The NIH warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is the patient also taking any other medications? ## Thank you for your response, Verwon. Yes, I take several other meds, but it doesn't matter now. My pain management doctor stopped the morphine. My feet/ankles had swollen to twice their normal size and I was experiencing itching (no r...

My hubby and I started suboxone 9/9/16. Been taking opioids for a few yrs and have a high tolerance. I waited 24hrs before taking the sub. 8mg starting out. It did not help with the withdrawal symptoms... My husband waited 36hrs before taking his (same dose) we both were miserable for 3 days... Taking one 8mg a day and still no relief. Ended up relapsing bc we couldn't take it anymore. Needing help to get back on track. Why didn't the sub help after taking three doses?? How long should we wait before taking the sub again? After we took opioids again we did get relief from withdraw symptoms... ## It would help if we knew how much opiate you have been taking and what exactly it was. For example.... Like 30mgs of IR morphine three times a day for five years. Sub will start to stack...

I have allways been told that when getting clean you are best to "treat the systems " rather than the disease.... I am sure there is some truth to this but here is my real question.... If a person has 4 steady years of pain meds (oxys, tabs, percocets, ect) what "formula" is the best one you know of to prepare for detoxification if thats what your planning on doing? I have heard of vitamin packs, and cold meds, and just getting zonked out...I mean what are the best remedys for detoxifying or to get you through that 4-6 days ahead? I am really thinking about trying to clean out and just battle my pain on my own.... Anyone care to share? ## Hello, Gary! How are you? Actually, the best method is a slow tapering of the relevant medications. That can prevent the severe withdra...

7 years ago I was prescribed Percocet 10 mg for a broken ankle and had no bad side effects. 3 weeks ago I was prescribed Percocet 5/325 with acetaminophen and I have been throwing up even after taking it on a full stomach. I talked to my Dr and he prescribed me zofran for the nausea and it does not help at all. My question is can the acetaminophen cause the nausea and vomiting? ## It may be due to the Oxycodone, or the Acetaminophen, our bodies do change with time, so it's always possible to start experiencing a new reaction or side effect that we never experienced before. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you consi...

What is the very best laxative I can use when taking narcotic pain relievers? Please be detailed. ## I get horrible constipation, when I take them and the only thing I've found that really helps is a fiber supplement. There are many available over the counter, but that might be right for you. It really depends on your overall health, and any other medications you might be taking. The FDA warns that they can also cause diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Has your medical provider suggested anything?

I am seeking help in finding a good physician, either pain specialty, internal or general medicine, for my husband. I have searched online for hours, day after day and just cannot make heads or tails with all of the controversy about opioids. We need help. My husband and I moved here (Houston suburb) this year, leaving behind his PCP of 8 yrs. She handled every issue including intractable pain stemming from back surgery. Being diabetic with nerve pain and hypertensive, well around we go... Pain causes his BP to rise which in turn causes more problems. He has been under VA care but the process is ridiculously slow. I am becoming concerned over his quality of life as the change is significant. We have records, imaging, medication history, etc. Any and all help would be so appreciated.

I was watching the House of Reps today on Cspan. They are still discussing what to do with this. I hear them saying how all the doctors, police, all their pertinent people will be there. But of course we are left out of the equation. No one cares what happens to us. My heart goes out to all in this situation I find myself in. Has there been any efforts on petitions, or legal suits? How about a good old fashion sit it in Washington, DC? I have written to anyone I can think of from President Obama to local senators, to lawyers requesting litigation, I have tried News channels and newspapers. They either refuse to return my calls or they take around the issue. WE NEED TO UNITE!! We need have out voices heard. Any one with me? My life is pretty much over at this point. I need help finding a new PM doctor in Maryland that will prescribe ongoing opiates. I have fibromyalgia and 2 herniated discs with left & right leg radiculopathy. My friend was on 8mg of Suboxone for 8 years. Her doctor cut her back to 2.5mg on the last week and then cut her off due to Methadone use as well. My friend had taken pills during the duration of the Suboxone and also takes Methadone. What can I do to help her with withdrawal like symptoms, or what should I look for? ## In this situation it sounds as though one of the best things you could do for your friend is assist her in seeking some sort of substance abuse treatment. As far as symptom monitoring I would note anything indicative of w/d such as diarrhea, vomiting, insomnia, back pain, headache, irritability, restlessness, anxiety, sweating and the like. In her case I would also watch out for possible overdose should she get her hands on some drugs; pin-point pupils, shallow or no bre...

Does anyone know of any doctors in the Chicago area currently prescribing low doses of opioid pain medications? Something like 10-325 Norcos, 20mg-30mg oxycodone IR, 15mg-30mg MSIR or even Suboxone? I broke my back over a decade ago. I recently herniated another disc at L4 and am experiencing terrible pain that shoots all the way down my left leg and into my foot. I’ve been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and am also experiencing narrowing of the spine at L4, L5. I used to be on tons of these kind of medications and was weaned down on my own choice, but the pain has become unbearable and I need to be able to work. I know Suboxone helps with pain as well and is extremely helpful in preventing cravings for higher doses of opioids. I would be happy to even be taking Suboxone...
