Used it when I had my total knee. Two syllables, I think. Can't take most pain meds, so need to find out. ## Do you remember the pharmacy that filled it for you? They would still have the records in their computer and should be able to look back and provide you with the information. Off the top of my head, the only pain reliever I can think of that starts with a T that is commonly used is Tramadol, it's a centrally acting analgesic, though it is related to opiates and causes similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Learn more: Does that sound familiar? ## I thought it had two syllables. Don't recall what pharmacy I used then. Guess the orthopedist's record would have it. ## Talwin? I want to know all painkillers that are opiates that start with the letter O. I would like to know this because I think my doctor ordered a painkiller that I'm allergic to and it starts with an O and I'm not sure what it is... ## Does Opana a have generic? I was taking hydromorphone but I was getting headaches. What do you recommend? ## @Dutch - off the top of my head (listing both brand and generic names) ... Opana, Oxymorphone, Oxycodone, OxyContin. Do any of those ring a bell? You should check out the category page on Pain Relief, then scroll down past the list of discussions to where it says "Pain Relief Medications", and that list is in alphabetical order so you can just scroll down to drugs starting with "O". Hope this helps!

I've been taking opiates for the past year now after being clean for a year and nine months... I have some zubsolvs 5.7mg. I have four of them... How should I go about getting off? ## Hello, Jesseboi! How are you? You have to wait until you are in full withdrawal, before starting the Zubsolv, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was fighting cancer and ended up hooked on opiates. I had been taking oxycontin, dilaudid, percocet, hydromorphone, you name it, for years. I needed to keep taking higher and higher doses because i had developed a resistance to the drugs and they stopped working. A few years into my fight i caught a break and my cancer went into remission. I started to recover and most of the bone pain issues began to fade. I didn't need the opiates anymore but I was hooked. I went to the doctor for a cessation plan and he gave me a taper down schedule from long acting oxy to short acting percs then finally tapering to nothing. It was going to be a slow, painful, draw down. I started the plan and quickly came unglued at the seems. I had been fighting a painful cancer for years and now I had to dea...

I am having surgery of my shoulder and cannot take any pain med that has opiates. But it has to be strong enough to kill the pain. If you can send me a list of them, I will appreciated. ## What has your doctor advised you to use? There are some options available, but you aren't really going to find any that are as strong and effective as opiates. There the NSAIDs: And then there is a medication such as Tramadol, but I am not sure if you can take that, since it is opiate related: ## Tramadol takes a week or so to start being effective. NSAIDS taken at large dose level will first rip out your digestive system and may result in renal failure. On average there are about 1000 more deaths per year from NSAIDS than opiates. ## If your doctor is telling to not to take opiates prior to the s...

I regularly take 10-12 mg of Suboxone daily. This month I ran out 3 days early, so I took 80 mg of opiates. Each day I took my last does of opiates at noon, it's now 7 pm. Is it safe to take Suboxone again? I don't want to go in withdrawals but I have always been told Suboxone remains in your system for 3-5 days. If so, is there enough Suboxone in my system so I won't go into withdrawals? ## Hello, David! How are you? It's difficult to gauge, because how long it stays can vary from person to person. It would really be best to wait until you're in full withdrawal, before starting it, again, unless your doctor directs otherwise. 80mgs of opiates is a high amount, so there could be a pretty high risk of precipitated withdrawals, if you take it too soon. The FDA classifi...

Hello all. I am a 22 year old mama to a 10 month old baby. I desperately need to get off opiates.. I mean, my situation pales in comparison to some...but withdrawals are withdrawals all the same. I'm hoping for some helpful advice and tips! I've only been addicted to opiates for about 9 months. I got tabs from my OB after birth, then my boyfriend starting getting tabs, Percs, oxy, roxy....from friends, not prescribed :/ only taking about 30-60 mg a day. Not as bad as some but quitting cold turkey really kills me! Not only am I a mother I am a young professional as well with a great job. I actually just got a raise sooo definitely can't let them down by missing work to detox, besides that I have a wonderful baby who requires and deserves my full attention and I want the energ...

Any one here in Nebraska having a hard time finding a Dr. to control your pain with opiates. Nebraska drs. are some of the most self serving people I have ment. Many want to put electrodes in your back and you still need oral meds to help. Some will put a moriphine pump in but not give you oral meds which most need even if they have the pump. They are in it to make money bottom line. Manty were anetheolgist that saw a money making opportunity and starting calling them selves pain specialist. Most don't know a thing about pain other than knowing about the medicinrs out thier, but then I wonder if they even know that much.!! We need to band together here in Ne. and start to advocate for better pain meds for intractable pain control. Where are pain patients rights to live a pain free l...

For 3 years i have been on methadone, currently on 25mg. I tried to come off myself and for the first time in my life i stupidly took a delibrite overdose 6 days ago of 700mg of methadone. I ended up in hospital and they saved me with naloxone. Very stupid i know. I am going into a detox clinic next week for a year and to start with they detox you on 2 weeks of subbys. i haven't took any methadone or any drugs since saturday. It is now thursday and im not really rattling yet. Am i better to now stay off the methadone till next week? My way of thinking is that maybe the naloxone has got rid of some opiates but i have been clean for 5 days so why put more methadone into my body when it takes longer to detox and in 5 to 6 days i will be going onto a subby detox any way. I had to take more opiates to make symptoms subside. I've taken nothing for 22 hours now. IS IT SAFE TO TAKE SUBOXONE NOW? ## Hello, Shannon! How are you? I stopped drinking wine 3 nights ago because I had surgery and knew I would be taking hydrocodone for pain. Now I fear alchohol withdrawal. If I drink a glass of wine will that stop the withdrawal if that happens? ## Hi Sissy, yes! Drinking a glass of wine will help if u have alcohol withdrawals. It's like an addict, if they r withdrawing, taking opiates will help them. Hope u feel better. ## But how much were you drinking? Alcohol withdrawal doesn't usually occur, unless you've been drinking fairly large amounts, every day for a long period of time.

One of the contraindications while taking Neurontin is using opiates such as Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and Oyxcodone (Percocet). The opiates potentiate the effect of Neurotin by 14%. With Morphine, it increases the effect of Neurotin by 44%. My husband was on Neurontin at 900 mg a day (taken in three doses). At that time, he was not taking much of his pain killer, Oxycodone (Percocet), maybe one 5mg dose a night. My husband was originally took Neurotin for shingles nerve pain. His doctor decided to increase his dose of Neurontin to 1800 mg per day (three equal doses). Before that time, my husband increased his Oxycodone to two 5mg tablets before bedtime and another 5mg tablet about four hours later. Upon the increase in Neurontin, my husband started to experience some adverse effects. These...

I was on Suboxone for 8 years extremely successful. Totally took my life back, everything was wonderful. Prior authorization started and my doctor handed me my last script and was like good luck. I went to clinic after clinic, fell off the wagon taking Suboxone as it was throwing me into the worst withdrawals, so I would keep giving up. I'm to the point I can't take it anymore. I'm down to very little or nothing and I just want to start my Suboxone. I went and got my script yesterday but I can't f****** go through the withdrawal for 3 Days to take it. Will I be in horrible shape on a quarter of a milligram of opiates a day? And furthermore they're telling me to take one 8 milligram strip twice a day, should I do that? ## What opiate have you been taking? A quarter mg...

Hi there, My boyfriend and I were taking opiates for about a year, quite a lot. We have been on methadone for about a year, I've been on it for a few months longer. Started at 60mgs a day and then got down to 12mg. For the past month I've been on a higher dose to get off the opiates we got hooked on again. Think we didn't have enough methadone and the cravings set in. So, I got subutex now and my boyfriend and I are living in separate places now, which make this hard to coordinate. I got subutex and we shared it but I had to start taking 8mg instead of 4mg just so that the withdrawal from methadone would go away. So I've taken most of the Subutex meant for us and have 2 8mg tablets left. I don't have any methadone now, only a script for another month at 12mg. Yesterd...
