I am withdrawing off of methadone. Ii have been tapering down from 80 mg to about 5 to 8 mgs a day. I take gabapentin for restless leg that started when i got down to 10 mgs. But doctor wants to taper me off of gaba b4 i finished methadone. I dont know why he is doing this but i did get clonodines .1 mg once a day at night from him since i hav to hurry up with methadone now cause actually i had to increase gaba for it to continue working and now i have even less gaba. So my question is how long does it take for clonodines to work and is only once a day enough? ## Clonidine usually tends to have some effect shortly after taking it, generally within 20 to 30 minutes, so some people do take it on an as needed basis, rather than taking it all the time. Ref: Medline Plus Clonidine It is ofte...

Going thru bad withdrawl from opiates, someone said they have noroton & it will take away all symptoms. Can this be true? ## Hi dee, Sorry to hear about the bad withdrawals you've been experiencing. Did you mean to say "Neurontin" by chance? I haven't found anything by the name of noroton. Neurontin (Gabapentin) however, was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, but is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. I cannot guarantee how effective it is for managing certain withdrawal symptoms (since it's not indicated for this purpose), but I'd imagine that results could vary for each individual and their particular set of symptoms. Was this person a doctor or credible source who told you that it works for all symptoms? I'm not doubting...

my wife is afraid to take suboxone she says it will throw her into major withdrawl. i was wondering how long do you have to wait after taking methadone or morphine to take suboxone ## I was addicted to narcotics and I two was scared to death to take suboxone b/c of all the story's i heard about going into worse withdrawl, but about 3 weeks ago i couldn't take the 'diease' anymore and decided to finally give suboxone a try. I waited about 30 hrs from when i last used and i felt better the next day and havent touch opiates since, in fact I don't even crave it. My doctor gave me the 8 mg. pills and told me to take one and if I didn't feel better to take another half a few hours later and so on untill I felt normal. It took me about 3 pills over a 20 hour period, but...

I did hydrocodone and oxycodone for a year and found out I was pregnant so my doctor gave me 2 suboxone strips. I have been cutting the 8mg/2mg strips into 8 pieces and taking one piece a day. I want to stop everything but anytime i don't do anything at all I feel terrible and restless. Question is... What can I do to stop the wd symptoms? Or should I just take my dose for the day? And how long does it take to feel normal without anything? ## Suboxone actually isn't recommended during pregnancy, the preferred one for safety reasons is Subutex, which doesn't contain the Naloxone that is in Suboxone with the Buprenorphine. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may caus...

I am a current opiate dependent. 62mg of methadone maintenance/day. I have been only wishing to get off of this stuff, just as everyone else. I am feeling very hopeful. Just a month ago, I asked my doc to give me adderall for my ADHD. I was diagnosed with this as a child and used to take adderall long ago and thru my 20's and no abuse. I have not taken adderall for about 10 yrs now. So, I begin taking it. The day I got my script, I forgot to take my methadone take home that morning and it was now 5pm and just taking my 30mg adderall. Within the hour I feel energized. Felt great, focus was good, cleaning house and all the stuff I use to do prior to becoming dependent. I realized at 7pm that I still had not taken my methadone. Alls good though. No pain, no worry. So I decided, I am no...

asking for the first time, but my question is will taking narcos after a week long subutex ( suboxone) treatment, but only one narco a day, prolong my withdrawl from the sub or worse will it send my body back into the exact same place i was phyisically prior to starting the treatment. one day after my 7 day detox at hosptial i took one that i found and im kind of worried it will send me back to page one. i was taking up to 30 pills a day prior to detox and want to succed but it has been 5 days since treatment and im still struggling almost as if i were doing it cold turkey, is the reason for this due to the fact that i took the 1 narco the day after or is it just a normal process im going through? ## Dude. I do not see the answers to this question. You have to be in full blown withdrawals. I wanted something to get of 40 mg of oxycodone and then the doctor told me I could have withdrawals if I took too soon so your going to be in withdrawals anyway. Im scared. What kind of drug can you take so you don't get that opioid withdrawal syndrome. Wish sounds as about as scary as withdrawals ## Tunpuli, Well no matter how you proceed you will have to experience some level of Withdrawl Before you can transition to one of these ORT medications. It is highly advisable to seek care with a trained medical provider so they Can initiate treatment at the appropriate time.Good luck in this new Phase of your life. ## @tupuli, Re: "how long after taking zubsolv can you use opiate" With all due r...

I have been taking 30mg a day of methadone for 6 weeks and wanted to switch to percocet and changed script now take 45mg of percocet a day. How long will it take for me to stop having withdrawls symptoms from methadone? I am feeling sick even while I am taking the percocet. Is it possible to still go through methadone withdrawls even while you are taking the percocet? ## You should not be switching from methadone to percocet which is very addictive also. If your Dr. can perscribe suboxen try that. It helps to take away the pain of opiate withdrawl. ## I forgot to mention Suboxen can also be addictive.. ## Methadone is well known to cause withdrawals, regardless of what it is replaced with. That is why many people end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it, rather than ever being able t...

Hello, I have been reading all kinds of forums regarding opiate use, withdrawl, and suboxone. I'm ready to jump in now to be able to have others to support me because, honestly, I'm a closet addict, no one knows my addiction but myself, very sad but true. Some history, I'll try to be short and simple...... I had a car accident in 2007 which wrecked my back, I'll never forget, that's the day I took my first, hydrocodone. It was not a big deal then, 30/month I was good. Well then I got pregnant shortly thereafter so I stopped with no problems, I would died before I took a chance with my daughters life or well being. Fast forward 9 months, c-section delivery, then I was introduced to my first ever oxy.! Wow what a feeling! It took years of one a day, then 2, then 3, fin...

So, I had about eight days clean, after going to a treatment center and going thru opiate withdrawls. When I got home I called about a vivitrol assessment and they told me to come in on the 24th. So I went and got a 30 mg Roxy. Well, today they called and told me to come in for labs tomorrow. Is the oxycodone in my system going automatically knock out my chances of getting the injection? ## Did you ever get an answer on this?!? I'm curious about the same thing. Getting my shot tomorrow!!!!
