Do the light green bupropion pills help with opiate withdrawals? ## Bupropion is classifies by the FDA as an antidepressant that is also used to aid in smoking cessation. In order for it to work, it must be taken regularly for several weeks. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and insomnia. That said, no, it likely won't do much to help with withdrawals. I think you may be thinking of Buprenorphine, the active ingredient in Subutex and coupled with Naloxone in Suboxone. It is used to treat drug addition. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## They can help some. No...

Does gabapentin help at all with opiate withdrawals? Does it make it at all any more comfortable? ## It may help alleviate some of the symptoms and prevent the risk of possible seizures, according to FDA reports. Has your doctor prescribed it for you? Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. Are you on any other medications? ## I've been off methadone for 9 days and I took 3 Co-codamol. Will that make my withdrawals even worse? Also, does gabapentin help with opiate withdrawal? ## Hello, I am currently on day 6 of being off opiates after a 60-80mg (give or take a day) habit for 2 years... My first 2 days I didn't use anything to cope with withdrawals. Over the next 3 days, I took 900mg of gabapentin, 600mg of gab...

I am taking a 80 mg a day of hydrocodone / Acetaminophen and trying lower down to 40 mg a day to 20 mg a day then 10 mg a day, and 10 every 24 hours without having to have extreme opiate withdrawals, please tell me if I can use fioricet for opiate withdrawals. what do need to know. ## Hello, Will363! How are you? If you're doing a slow taper, your withdrawals should be minimal. How long have you been taking it? How fast of a taper are you doing? It takes at least a week, between each dosage drop, for your body to adjust. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And no, there is really nothing in the Fioricet to help.

I was fighting cancer and ended up hooked on opiates. I had been taking oxycontin, dilaudid, percocet, hydromorphone, you name it, for years. I needed to keep taking higher and higher doses because i had developed a resistance to the drugs and they stopped working. A few years into my fight i caught a break and my cancer went into remission. I started to recover and most of the bone pain issues began to fade. I didn't need the opiates anymore but I was hooked. I went to the doctor for a cessation plan and he gave me a taper down schedule from long acting oxy to short acting percs then finally tapering to nothing. It was going to be a slow, painful, draw down. I started the plan and quickly came unglued at the seems. I had been fighting a painful cancer for years and now I had to dea...

Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've been through, but also congratulate you on sticking it out and becoming clean. Your post is very much appreciated, because many people do seem to see Methadone as a miracle drug, but they ...

You don't have to be in withdrawal to take subutex. Been on it for 6 years. I always read this garbage from people that don't have a damn clue, passing on info they are just regurgitating. ## Hello, tmoney! How are you? That is correct and thank you for posting. Sometimes, people may feel minor withdrawal symptoms, because Buprenorphine tends to be stronger in gripping onto the opiate receptors, so it kicks out other stuff someone may have taken. But, if doesn't cause the dangerous precipitated withdrawals, in most cases, that people can experience if they take Suboxone too soon, due to the Naloxone that's in it. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may c...

Been on suboxones for over a year. I stopped taking them for a week because of some dental work. I was in so much pain needing a root canal and I realized that no matter how many hydrocodones I took, it did nothing for pain. I am thinking it's because I've been on suboxones. Anyway, I want to start back on suboxones, but I am nervous to when to start taking them. The last time I took hydrocodone was about 17 hours ago. I do not feel any withdrawal symptoms from stopping them. When would I be safe to take my suboxone? ## Hello, Ricsgirl! How are you? Suboxone actually contains 2 ingredients, the opiate Buprenorphine and Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates to help prevent their abuse, while someone is under treatment with it. The Naloxone is most likely why the Hydrocodone d...

I'm trying to stop using H and I have the 54 411, round, white, subutex pills. Do I have to wait 24 hours from my last usage to take one or can I take it right away? I don't want to get withdrawal symptoms from taking it too soon. But I don't want to wait 24 hours because I start feeling sick much sooner than that. ## Hello, Timetoquit! How are you? This is an 8mg sublingual Buprenorphine tablet, a generic for Subutex and since this does not contain the Naloxone that is used in Suboxone to neutralize other opiates, you do not have to be in full withdrawal to start this one, it shouldn't throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Thus, you should take it according to your doctor's instructions. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming an...

Hi there, this is for the people who are on methadone / or Suboxone. I've been on methadone for an opiate addiction, for a year now. My clean date is feb 2, 2015. At first, methadone was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I finally felt normal, and thought I was ready to get my life back on track. Well.. What a lie that was. I was at 75 mlgs of methadone from February 2015-August 2015, then started tapering off at 5 mlgs a week. I have a rapid metabolizer, so methadone never lasted longer than 10 hours in my system. Now I'm at 30 mlgs and I'm living in hell! I'm in constant withdrawal, body aches, sweating, hot /cold, emotional, aggressive... Etc. All I want is to feel normal again, but don't want to be tied on a leash to the methadone anymore! People say t...

After my patches were taken on a beach trip mith several families, I am currently on day 9 ofwithdrawals. Exhaustion, calves spasming are bad,but the chills almost seen worse and unbearable at times. Had major back surgery in November and was treated for pain using the patches for nearly 2 years. I've been through opiate withdrawal oncebefore, but this is nearly debilitating. I've not slept in days. ## Did you report the theft to the police? If you have a police report, your doctor may be able to help you. What types of symptoms are you experiencing? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, diarrhea, anxiety and rebound pain. ## Day 12 now... Use RALIVIA if you want to get off these nasty pills. 100-200mg daily RALIVIA ease withdraw symptoms. Maybe take a PERK or 2 to help out if your taking 20s, 40s, 60s, or 80s. Its hard but RALIVIA eases withdrawl symptoms. ## OXYNEO and OXYCOTIN are the same. One is slow release other is quicker. If you are addicted to OXYCOTIN here is what you do. Ask your docter to change to RALIVIA pain killer but also get some PERKASETS prescribed. Take your RALIVIA pain killer in place of the OXYCOTTIN pill. If you take 40mg OXYCOTTIN you need 100mg RALIVIA. They have a 24hr lasting pain killing effect. They also will stop withdrawl symptoms you get from getting away from OXYCOTTIN. The reason you get PERKASETS is your body will ask for a PILL that you know has OPIATES in it. While your nerve ending...

I took one Contrave and my regular dosage of Tramadol and wound up in the ER with such horrific withdrawals I wanted to pass out. My question is, how long after taking one Contrave before I can resume my regular Tramadol dosage? ## It can block opiates from working for you for about 3 days, or so. Was the prescribing doctor aware that you'd be taking both? Usually, according to FDA warnings, it is not safe to take a medication such as Contrave, until you are in full withdrawal from all opiate medications, or it creates the risk of your going into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. One of the ingredients in Contrave neutralizes opiates, it is often used to treat opiate overdoses, or prevent someone from abusing opiates, while being treated for addiction.

I started taking methadone about 10yrs ago for pain. Started with 80mg a day and by the 2nd yr I was down to 40-50 mg a day. Over this past year I weaned myself off to nothing VERY slowly. It has been a month and I still can't sleep and feel like crap. Any replies would be appreciated. ## Methadone is notoriously hard to stop, it's very well known to cause severe withdrawals and cravings that can last a very long time. It may actually take a couple months, before you start to feel back to normal. That's why many people treated with it for drug addiction end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it, rather then becoming completely drug free. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, ...

I've been taking Suboxones for the last year and my doctor has been bringing me down every visit. Once a month I'm at .5 a strip except I can't get down that low. I'm out now and feel like garbage on day 3. If I am going to go through it now I'm wondering what will help to do it? ## Hello, Tausha! How are you feeling? I know opiate withdrawals can be terrible. According to FDA reports you may experience nausea, diarrhea, rebound pain, muscle cramps, headaches, and insomnia. Ref: Medline Plus Opiate Withdrawals It is normal for a doctor to eventually taper a patient off of Suboxone. Has your doctor suggested anything to help? When I came off of high doses of opiates from being on pain management, it was pretty miserable. I took Tylenol for the aches, and pains, and of...

I have been on subutex for 2 years or more, recently my boyfriend decided we both should try lowering our dosage. After 3-7 days of lowering my dose, I am starting into withdrawal within hours of taking my lowered dose. Why am I in REAL withdrawal even though I have taken a dose of my subutex? These are NOT phantom withdrawals. I am very educated on phantom withdrawals & im definitely feeling REAL symptoms. Why am I in almost full tilt withdrawal already? ## I am sorry if I seem rude for asking, but why is your boyfriend making such decisions? Is he a doctor? Anytime you lower the dosage of an opiate, such as this, it is normal to experience withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. what kind of withdrawals will i have when I stop taking Suboxone? ## Your doctor should help you taper gradually to avoid the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, however, it is an opiate, so you will experience withdrawal effects just like stopping any other narcotic if you stop abruptly. ## Gosh, I hope someone out there will see this post and answer your questions because I have just started the suboxone also and the doctor wants me to stay on them for a good while. You have to wait until you are in full withdrawal, before starting the Zubsolv, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Hello I've been on high does opiates for injuries due to a terrible auto accident for 16 yrs to date. My doctor at my request prescribed my contrave. How long do I need to be off opiates before starting the contrave? I know people can take suboxone almost immediately. With the bupropion in contrave does it help stop pain from withdrawal effects of the opiates? ## You need to be in full withdrawal from the opiates, before you can take this, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. Taking it too soon could cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The same is true of Suboxone, it cannot be taken immediately. Bupropion is an antidepressant, not an analgesic, so no. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, d...

Why do you think docs prescribe Suboxone or Methadone for opiate withdrawal, make patients stay on it until they are completely addicted to it for years, then have to treat them to come off it? Why don't they treat a 5 day opiate withdrawal with a benzo to sleep, clonidine, gabapentin, trazodone for a week or two instead. It would sure help society not be addicted to Suboxone. Worst drug ever. ## Most people, even if they are addicted, can't just take a ton of medications to try and sleep through their withdrawals and be out of work for that length of time. Treatment with Suboxone or Methadone enables them to still work and be productive, while undergoing addiction treatment and, unlike Methadone, Suboxone usually enables most people to eventually become completely drug free, al...
