Opana Er 15 Mg

My husband has severe rheumatoid arthritis and requires 24 pain management. We felt there were too many ups and downs with the 50 mcg fentanyl patch and asked for something new. Pain Management Dr. (PMD) changed him to MS Contin 15 mg. He was in bed for 4 solid days, was taking 4-6 percocet per day for breakthrough and was anorexic and irritable. He changed him to Opana ER 15. Can anyone explain how that might be more effective for him??? Thanks! ## Percocet is adding a lot of acetominiphine (sp?) That may end up hurting his stomach. My Dr. took me off Percocet and put me on oxycodone IR and Opana er. The Opana is 30mg. This works well for me. ## Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, which is a very potent narcotic. My 7 doctors agreed that I would have to be on pain meds the rest of my life after a auto accident in 1981, after more than 50 surgeries I was put on disability until I found a old doctor who help put back to the point I had a union of both bones mid shaft of Tibia & Fibula, plus 7 crushed disk, right rotator cuff that pops out & many other injuries. From 1981 until 1990 I was on just about ever form of pain meds the doctors said I needed. I was nuts by then, this was all military & VA doctors. I moved back home where I went searching for a good doctor that serve my home town as I live in the country. He sent me to many doctors & on Jan 2,2000 the team after test said no more T4, or any other medication but morphine sulfate, starting out with 15 mg er 3 x a day & as ... ...

Does the Opana IR come in 15 mg tabs? ## Hi Lynn, From what I could gather, Opana "ER" tablets are the only ones that come in 15mg dosage forms. The immediate release ones appear to be in 5mg and 10mg increments, respectively. I don't know if other brands outside of the US carry it in different dosages, but it sounds like three 5mg tablets would be your best bet for reaching the intended dosage. I'd just be sure to talk with your doctor about proper dosing protocols before moving forward with it. I hope this helps! ...

My Dr has given me the option to switch from Opana ER 45mg to msCottin ER! How many MG of MSCottin ER will it take to equale the Opana ER 45mg?? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? Opana is actually much stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 135mgs of the MS Contin to equal each 45mgs of the Opana. That's quite a lot to take. Is the Opana no longer working for you? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Oxycontin or Fentanyl might be better options. ## Thank you for the information. It's helped a lot! I am switching medications because of several different stomach problems I have. do opana 40mg pills ever expire
2 Replies RSS
How long is opana 40 mg shelf life? ## Hi mike, According to the thread linked below, the shelf life of Opana is 3 years: /Discuss/Opana-ER-Shelf-Life-225768.htm However a Harvard Medical School family health article states that, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. But the question is whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study... (I have not seen the list of drugs ... ...

What Is The Difference In Opana And Morphine
10 Replies RSS
just wanted to know if there is a difference between the 2. I am perscribed morphine sulfate er 15 mg twice daily. My neck has been operated on a few times so i have severe pain daily. I forgot my pills at home over the weekend. My mother is perscribed Opana 10mg. She gave me one and it seemed to work better. Wanted to know if there is a difference between the 2. I am not sure how to go about asking my dr to switch me. Don't want her to freak about my mom giving me one of hers... ## Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is actually stronger than Morphine. Endo expects to finish converting patients to the new formulation of Opana ER in 2Q12. Generics/Patent: The patent on Opana ER has been challenged by many companies, namely, Sandoz (Novartis), Impax Laboratories, Teva, Watson, Actavis, Roxane Laboratories and Ranbaxy. The company has settled all disputes apart from the one associated with Ranbaxy which Endo has decided not to challenge. Consequently, Ranbaxy can sell the generic versions of Opana ER from September 9, 2013. Following the settlements with all other challengers, they have agreed not to challenge patents relating to Opana ER. Actavis launched the generic version of non-tamper resistant formulation of Opana ER (7.5 and 15 mg dosages) on July 15, 2011. Impax can sell generic versions of Opana ER from January 1, 2013. I am on 40mg of Opana and 15 mg ir morphine for 3 ruptured discs. . When I take the morphine it makes me tired. Is there an IR that will not make me groggy? ## Hello, Steven! How are you? Drowsiness is a possible side effect of all narcotics, it's really just a matter of trial an error to find one that works for you, without making you sleepy. Morphine did the same thing to me, when I was on it, I could barely ever stay awake. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried Oxycodone? It may work better for you. ...

They are both strong meds so I'm thinking since I've built up a tolerance to the diladid that I will be able to take at east one pill a day to keep from being sick an in pain without it being too much ? Any thoughts ## Hello, Filly! How are you? You shouldn't make such a switch, without your doctor's approval. Each 8mg of Dilaudid is equal to 10.67mgs of the Opana. Both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Oxymorphone 15mg
Post a Reply
The round white pil you are talking about with 262 on 1 side & what appears to be a crescent moon is a 15mg extended release oxymorphone "opana" which are definantly made everywhere in the united states! So it is a very common opiate. They are strong depending on your tolerence but would strongly suggest doing less if it's your first time trying them! They make several different ones such as round 5's, 10's & the round 15's with the moon. They also make 5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 30mg & 40mg opana ER which looks like a stop sign & different color for each different mg. Now in some states they have reformulated the stop sign shaped opanas into a gel so that abusers cant crush to snort but even now people have figured out ways to do that! They are very addict... ...
