My husband has severe rheumatoid arthritis and requires 24 pain management. We felt there were too many ups and downs with the 50 mcg fentanyl patch and asked for something new. Pain Management Dr. (PMD) changed him to MS Contin 15 mg. He was in bed for 4 solid days, was taking 4-6 percocet per day for breakthrough and was anorexic and irritable. He changed him to Opana ER 15. Can anyone explain how that might be more effective for him??? Thanks! ## Percocet is adding a lot of acetominiphine (sp?) That may end up hurting his stomach. I have been taking Ultram 50 mg 2 tabs 4 times/day + Lyrica 150 mg twice/day for years for not only almost every vertebrae in my neck & back being herniated with impinged nerves, spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disease & scoliosis, but also severe fibromyalgia & osteoarthritis (mostly in the knees & ankles. My pain specialist switched me from 100mcg of fentanyl to 40mg 2 times a day of opana ER. Was this the right conversion? I went through withdrawal for 3 weeks and I'm still in a lot of pain. ## Fentanyl is currently the stronger opiate available, so no, it is not equivalent and it is normal to experience withdrawals and rebound pain for awhile, according to FDA reports. My doctor just switched me to Opana IR 10 mg. I was taking Lortab 10/500, but staying misusing then because I built up a tolerance. Well these Opana's are amazing. I have never been so pain free in the twenty years suffering with chronic pain. Not to mention how awesome they make me feel in general. Bad part is the itching...keeps me awake and is unbearable. I wondered if there is something over the counter I can take to make this itching go away whereas I love Opana and definitely don't want to give them up. I have been struggling with pain management for 15 yrars. I seems like I have tried every thing available. I have no relief from the pain. I am currently on Exalgo 32mg. still no help. my dr prescibed oxymorphone er 60 mg. and oxymorphone ir 5 mg. I was able to purchase the ir tablets in generic (but they cost about 50.00 more than the oxycodone ir 20 mg. that I was taking before he switched my meds) I was not able to get the oxymorphone er 60 mg. in generic form. I have been prescribe opana for over a year now and the dog carried off my months prescription and buried it. The Dr. Said he can't help me! I need some in a bad way ! Please help ## The DEA will block it even if he wants to give you the prescription. However you can get (I take instant so I'm going to make up the mgs for the example) a prescription for 100 20Mgs if you get 50 40mgs and take 2. But likely he will not write you this. Next you can ask for something called withdrawal patches. Doesn't mean you're an addict, you can still have withdrawals. Im being perscribed these And they r being mailed to me in a few days the strenghth is 10/200. Take one every 8 hours....i was perscribed opana ER 5 mg 1 every 12 hours they didnt work at All but the regular hydro 10/325 did but Pain Management does not do short acting meds ..anyone had these b4? What is the best pain medication for C I D P (Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy)? I'm taking opana 40 mg twice a day it does not work very well for me I'm still in bad pain. I have taken Hydrocodone 10/500 for years on and off. Not dependent. The worst side effect was head itching. tolerable. I was off and recently prescribed 10/325. The itching is head to toe unbearable. I have scars from scratching. It lasts for days with very little help from Benadryl 50 mg. every 6 hours. My doctor said Oxycodone 10/325 will be better. I took it after a meal. One to two hours later I am very nauseous. 3-4 hours latter headache and intense itching. 13 hours later I still feel sick from it. How long does it take for the new opana er 10 mg to enter your system for a urine drug test? I have sevier back pain, I am 50 years old and i was perscribed the new opana 10 mg. They are different from the ones I used to take and they didnt work as well as the ones I had before. I insufflated a half of a lortab 500 mg a hour before my urine test. do you think I passed? ## I've taken a 30mg opana everyday for four days I have a urine test tomorrow ,I do have a script for 5mg oxycodone and now that oxycodone metabolizes into oxymorphone,it will be 24 from the last bit of opana I did until my test if I just take the oxycodone will I be all set for tomorrow's test or will it show to much in my system?

I have been on methadone maintenance for 24 years at 50 mg per day. Several years ago I was severely injured and have chronic often debilitating pain for which there is no solution other than spinal inj's. and pain medicine. I take Opana ER 40 mg every 12 hours and have 4 mg of Dilaudid for breakthrough pain a maximum of two tablets per day. What has me baffled is that at the methadone program they do oral swab tests and for the last 9 months the only drug that comes up positive is the methadone and I get a negative result for my pain meds. However when I am given a urine test all three drugs come back positive. How is this even possible?
