are the green Opana 20 time relesed if so how long does it take to kick in ## The green opana 20mg that are manufactured by Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. are extended released tablets. The length of time it takes to "kick in" can vary for each individual and is also based on whether or not you take it with a meal. Having it with fatty food may prolong the absorption time due to a slower metabolism. I would think that you should be able to notice it when the drug kicks in, do you not? I don't have any personal experience with taking opana, so I can only assume that you feel the narcotic effects when it is absorbed. I hope this helps!

My 7 doctors agreed that I would have to be on pain meds the rest of my life after a auto accident in 1981, after more than 50 surgeries I was put on disability until I found a old doctor who help put back to the point I had a union of both bones mid shaft of Tibia & Fibula, plus 7 crushed disk, right rotator cuff that pops out & many other injuries. From 1981 until 1990 I was on just about ever form of pain meds the doctors said I needed. I was nuts by then, this was all military & VA doctors. I moved back home where I went searching for a good doctor that serve my home town as I live in the country. He sent me to many doctors & on Jan 2,2000 the team after test said no more T4, or any other medication but morphine sulfate, starting out with 15 mg er 3 x a day & as ...

May of the year, I started the Opana ER 20mg and for me this has been wonderful. I was only able to afford oxycodone prior to the start of insurance in May. Been fighting a crazy battle with the oxycodone pain relief, cause the pharmacy keeps pushing KVK Tech product that doesn't work for me and has side effects. With Opana ER 20mg as my primary pain relief and Oxycodone 10mg for breakthrough pain, I am finally adjusting where I can function, which It has been a long time. Several years ago when I first started with oxycodone 30mg, life was good because I could function and then my local pharmacies started slipping the KVK products in on me and life became awful. Have heard that some people find the Opana makes them very sleepy. Lucky but so far I haven't had a problem. ## Hi Su...

Can ms contin 100mg be taken with opana er 20mg? ## Well MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine. Opana ER contains Oxymorphone. The Oxymorphine is much more powerful and only requires a fraction of the dose that was being taken of the Morphine. Both are time released. They also share the same side effect profiles: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I was on Opana about 8 years ago but it was at a time that I was still working. After a few days of taking it I started to get dizzy, sleepy and my computer monitor appeared wavy. I couldn't work like that so I asked to have my old meds back. I wish I had never done that cuz now I'm permanently disabled and cannot seem to get my doc to put me back on Opa...

The old formulation of Opana (octagonal) was far superior than oxycodone in relieving severe chronic pain. Opana is a time released medication that is extremely potent Because of people who abused it, several people died due to overdose. The FDA mandated that Opana be reformulated to deter abuse. The new Opana is, at least for me, totally ineffective although the extremely high cost remained. As of June 2013, there is a generic available although it is still outragesly expensive. ## And once again, what is relevant to you is not necessarily applicable to everyone else. While Opana may have worked better for you than Oxycodone, there are other people who didn't have good luck with it and got much better results from Oxycodone. Learn more Opana details here. i am on methadone 5mg twice a day for long term pain. i am on 10 mg oxycodone four times a day for breakthrough pain. i hate methadone, but its a long story having to do with a stint at a clinic. i couldnt tell my doctor that. i have been taking 10 mg opana ir and they work well, i just have built a tolerance to it. i think the 20 mg twice a day along with two 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough should do me well. i cant take the opana er because they make me sick, do you guys think that what i want is a good enough substitute? any comments and suggestions would be helpful. thanks ## Was on both meds- got off both. Use Lyrica, elavil, muscle relaxant, and topic capasain for chronic pain/RSD. Have spinal cord stimulate. My life is a million times better without methadone(killed my teeth/ I u...

what does an opana 60 mg look like? ## There is not a 60mg Opana available on the U.S. market. Opana is a very potent narcotic that contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is only available in a maximum of 10mgs. Was it perhaps a different medication that you were thinking of? There are tablets of both Morphine and Oxycodone that are available in 60mg dosages. ## Opana is not available in a 60mg. pill. You would need to be prescribed 1-40mg., and 1-20mg., in order to be taking 60mg. of Opana. ## Is there a red round 60 mg opana?

I get the generic opana er 20 mg. They come like plastic. They are green, feel like plastic, say 20 on one side and E on the other. The plastic crap makes my stomach a mess. I have gastritis and sigmoiditits. Do I have to have my pills like plastic form? ## Hello, Dawn! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. It's not actually plastic, but the substance they use for the time released mechanism does irritate some people's gastrointestinal system. The FDA lists this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You could try speaking to your doctor to see if they have some idea to relieve the stomach discomfort it causes, or ...

what happens if u put water on it? ## It gets wet. ## If you just get it damp/moist, it will start to dissolve the outer coating of the tablet. This should not be done, however, as it could result in the medication being released to quickly, resulting in an overdose. Opana is a narcotic pain medication, so it must be used very carefully and should only be taken as instructed by your doctor. Are there any other questions?

I have been prescribed Opana ER 40 mg three times a day, since 2003. In the last two months it has become unavailable from the manufacturer, you. I have been able to substitute 20 mg ER and it works, just more pills. Now they have become unavailable, and it hurts. You can't just stop taking this medication. I'm sure you know after eight years you go thru withdrawals on top of the pain. What can I replace the Opana with? ## No, this site is not the manufacturer, this site does not manufacture any medications, or products, this is an information only website. The reason the Opana was in short supply was to do to the fact that the manufacturer was reformulating the tablets to help prevent abuse. However, they have recently become available again, so you should be able to find them ...

i have been on 10mg Opana Er twice a day for about 2 months. then my dr upped it to 2 10mg opana twice a day. i did fine on both. now i take 1 20mg Opana er and im itching! is there a chemical difference between 2 10mg and 1 20mg? has anyone else had this happen? please help!! ## Hello, LoralP! How are you? I'm sorry, but I'm a bit confused by the way you worded your post. Were you ever taking more than 20mgs a day? You said your doctor upped it to 2 10mg twice a day, which would be 40mgs and, if that is the case, and you were then taken down to just 20mg once a day, the itching could be due to some withdrawals. ## No, I've never had any, but I've read a lot of people have experienced it for Months.!

I have recently began with a new PM dr that is fabulous. He basically lets me determine the best combo of pain meds for my back and hip issues that are too numerous to list, however, the severity requires anterior/posterior surgery which I'm trying to avoid at all costs. He originally gave me both ms contin and opana to try to determine which works best for me. The ms contin killed the pain but also killed the brain if u know what I mean. The opana worked good but it only has a bioavailability of roughly 10% which makes me feel as tho I'm wasting my time. I'm also taking percocet 10's for breakthru that honestly seems to blow the opana out of the water as far as effectiveness. So my question is who thinks if I switch to the ms 30mg er with perc 10's for the breakthru...

Wanted to share with everyone how happy I am to have finally received the new generic Opana ER 20mg tablets from my pharmacy. I had found Opana to be very effective for my chronic pain and was very sad when they switched it over to the new formula as it wasn't nearly effective as the original octagon shaped tablets and caused stomach aches. These new generic ones seem to me to be as effective as the original formula had been. The tablets I received show to be made by Global Pharmaceuticals and are a small, round, green tablet with G73 imprinted on them. I'm happy to report that these are just like the original formula. Now I no longer have stomach aches from taking those plastic pills that Endo is selling. I sure do hope that these remain as they are, but I have read a couple ar...

My dr wants to put me on Opana ER. Has anyone else been put on it, and if so, what are the results? ## I TAKE OPANA ER 20MG FOR A BULGE DISK IT WORK GREAT YOU ONLY HAVE TO TAKE 2 PILLS A DAY AND THE PAIN RELIEF LASTS 10 TO 12 HOURS THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS HOW GROGY I AM IN THE MOURNING BUT ONCE I TAKE IT I PERK RIGHT UP AND HAVE NO PAIN AND CAN WORK ANOTHER GOOD THING IS THERE IS NO ASPRIN OR ADDITIVES LIKE THAT TO DAMAGE YOUR LIVER. KEEP IN MIND EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT SO YOU HAVE TO JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. ## My doctor just started me on Opana ER 10 MG today with Opana 5mg to take for breakthrough pain. I was taking OxyContin for pain management for Cercvical Stenosis. I have had four neck surgeries in the past six years. The Opana doesn't seem to work as well as the OxyContin. Why?? The Dr said that this medication is twice as strong. It is not working. Now what do I do? I was thinking of doubling up on the Opana. But I am concerned about the side effects. My tolerance is so high after taking the oxy's for so many years I thought this was going to be my saving grace. Any suggestions?? Am I doing something wrong? ## Hello, Edna! How are you? Your doctor is correct, the FDA and NIH do list it as being twice as strong. However, not every medication works for every person that tries, so this just might not be the right one to help you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narco...

I have spent so much time trying to get my Opana 20mg er and 10 mg ir filled. I had to start sending my scripts to Optum Rx by mail to have them filled. Honestly I've never seen anything like it. I didn't even have this much trouble getting Oxycotin and Oxycodone filled. My insurance co didn't want to pay for my oxycodone anymore so they suggested I change to Opana. The first couple of months it was ok but then I don't know what happened but when I said I couldn't get them filled anywhere I meant it. I went 3 weeks without medication before I received my first order back through the mail order company. I'm trying to change to another medication that I can get locally that my insurance will cover. My question is which medication works better, Opana or Oxycontin an...

I take Opana 20mg three times a day for chronic pain, along with Roxicodone 15mg 4X's a day. I was wondering if anyone out there had noticed that the Opana's don't do anything as much as the Roxis/Oxycodone do? I also just use them as perscribed and am only in my 20's and have had over 35 surgeries. I go see my pain management physician in a couple of days and want to know if anyone out there has tried something similar to what I'm not and what they might have been switched to to get better relief of pain. Thank you for any advice. ## Everyone is different, so it could be that the Oxycodone works better for you, than the Opana. Given how many surgeries you've had, you may also have a very high tolerance to pain medications. The FDA warns that these medications ca...
