Opana 15 Mg

My husband has severe rheumatoid arthritis and requires 24 pain management. We felt there were too many ups and downs with the 50 mcg fentanyl patch and asked for something new. Pain Management Dr. (PMD) changed him to MS Contin 15 mg. He was in bed for 4 solid days, was taking 4-6 percocet per day for breakthrough and was anorexic and irritable. He changed him to Opana ER 15. Can anyone explain how that might be more effective for him??? Thanks! ## Percocet is adding a lot of acetominiphine (sp?) That may end up hurting his stomach. Does the Opana IR come in 15 mg tabs? ## Hi Lynn, From what I could gather, Opana "ER" tablets are the only ones that come in 15mg dosage forms. The immediate release ones appear to be in 5mg and 10mg increments, respectively. I don't know if other brands outside of the US carry it in different dosages, but it sounds like three 5mg tablets would be your best bet for reaching the intended dosage. I'd just be sure to talk with your doctor about proper dosing protocols before moving forward with it. I hope this helps!

i am on methadone 5mg twice a day for long term pain. i am on 10 mg oxycodone four times a day for breakthrough pain. i hate methadone, but its a long story having to do with a stint at a clinic. i couldnt tell my doctor that. i have been taking 10 mg opana ir and they work well, i just have built a tolerance to it. i think the 20 mg twice a day along with two 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough should do me well. i cant take the opana er because they make me sick, do you guys think that what i want is a good enough substitute? any comments and suggestions would be helpful. thanks ## Was on both meds- got off both. I have been taking Ultram 50 mg 2 tabs 4 times/day + Lyrica 150 mg twice/day for years for not only almost every vertebrae in my neck & back being herniated with impinged nerves, spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disease & scoliosis, but also severe fibromyalgia & osteoarthritis (mostly in the knees & ankles. My Dr has given me the option to switch from Opana ER 45mg to msCottin ER! How many MG of MSCottin ER will it take to equale the Opana ER 45mg?? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? Opana is actually much stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 135mgs of the MS Contin to equal each 45mgs of the Opana. That's quite a lot to take. Is the Opana no longer working for you? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There is no instant release Opana, so I assume you're actually talking about the regular release and no, it is only available in 5mgs or 10mgs. What else do you take? Have you consulted your doctor? You might need a medication adjustment.

I am on both of these meds do to severe medical issues. I take 40 Mg of opana 4 x daily and 30 Mg of oxycodone 5 x daily as well as Nortriptyline 150 Mg twice daily and neurontin 600 Mg 3 x daily. Needless to say a few different stomach medication due to chronic nausea. Oh and also phenergan pills and injectable. My question is has anyone found anything other than multiple medications to relieve severe chronic pain. ## I also have severe medical problems and nothing works. My husband has had a Brain hemrage a broken neck and slipped disc. His Dr in Charleston Ohio was viving him oxy 15 and perck 10mg. His Dr got busted for stupided stuff and he was a patient there for 4 yrs. Now we can not find a Dr to help him and he has a headache every day. I'm scared he will have another Brain hemrage.

Over the past few weeks I have been taking one Opana 15 mg pill per day. I would insufflate half and eat the other half. These aren't prescribed to me and I'm wising up and stopping. I need a list of pharmacies in kpt,tn that carries generic opana er in 10mg and 15mg ## I used to be able to obtain Percocet 10/325 now my local drug stores carry Oxycodone which they say is exactly the same formula as the Percocet. I know the drug stores pay less for this substitute but the pills do not seem to work the same for my back pain. I was on 100 mg of Kadian twice a day for 7 years and got switched to 20 mg of Opana three times of day. Also, I was on 15 mg of Morphine 4 times a day and was switched to 4 mg of dialudid 4 times a day. I want to know if these dosages are equal to my old medicine dosages. ## I don't believe these are equivalent dosages, more over because Morphine is the active ingredient in Kadian. In which case you had taken 100mg twice a day (200mg/day) and later dropped down to 15mg four times a day (60mg/day). That's a pretty significant difference in and of itself, not taking into consideration the Opana or Dilaudid fixtures. I have been on 15 mg opana er for 2 years. My appointment is in two hours to be put on morphine. They want to put me on 15 mg of that as well. I have a brain disease and suffer from chronic headaches and severe eye pressure. Is this even close to providing the same relief? And I also have epilepsy and if I go through withdrawals I can start to have seizures. I am prescribed 6 Opana 10 mg immediate release, and I have come a long way considering they ran me as a guinea pig and had me on it all - from Fentanyl patch 100 (yes that's right 100 mcg), and the breakthrough med was dilaudid 4 mg and the 8 mg, as well as having been on OxyContin (the op kind / not the old ones).
