I took my first Oxy 60 OP. It did not work well...reminded me of the generic ones a few years ago. Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties. OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. I just got my monthly fill of Oxy 60 oc. But this fill I noticed the pills say 60 and on the other side it is stamped op. Is this the same meds as I have been taking? Thank you. Chewing it is difficult, as tough dried-jelly-like interior is very cohesive and sticky...it tends to work its way into tooth's biting surface irregularities, and is compacted into spaces between teeth, where it can take 30 or more minutes to disolve. I have been taking oxycontin, now since they changed the the formula i am up to 120x2 a day with a breakthough. It stinks i still have pain with the op kind. I tried 100mg patchs of fentanal. Could never keep them on.Now i hear of a fentanal pill newly approved.I think this would be a lot better for me. Ant thoughts on this dillema I have??? ## Have you tried the Fentenal lollypops? Hello I'm Ken i live in Virginia and been disabled for along time now been on every pain med available seems like but i use to be on oxycontin er the 12hr pill my question is do they still make and or prescribe the real OC in any milligrams here in the states or do they only have and prescribe the new version which is OP cause the oc formula worked good for pain it lasted for me an 80mg lasted about 6to8hours versus the new OP formula which did not help my pain at all it just seem not to work so i had my doctor switch me to another extended release med cause why take something for chronic pain when it never did help i guess it helped me not to get sick so it was useless to me but all ppl differ when it comes to meds or just about anything that life throws at you thanks Ken ## Hello,...

I have been on OxyContin 60 mg. 3 time'sa day for about 6 or 7 year's. It woked GREAT. I have gotten 3 refill's of the NEW OxyContin they are not the same, they do not work as the old ones did, they do not last as long, it takes longer to take ANY kind of effect, I have went to the doctor, he does not want to change any thing, I called Purdu to find out how to get the old one's back, some one said if op is on the pill instead of oc it would be equal to the old one's. I am wondering if there is a manufacturer of oxycontin other then purdue? I am taking oxycontin 80 mlgm, and purdue has changed the medication, and it does not work for me with what they have done to it. ## Actavis is a manufacturer of generic Oxycontin, my insurance will only pay for generic. 80 mg op received this month. What the heck is purdue doing to me my stomach hurts, my pain is almost all they way back. I'm in agony. Why don't they take whiskey off the shelves and make them put plastic in it. It takes 3 hours for it to work if it does? I've had a headache also. One year ago my pain mgmt doctor put me on Oxy OP but it ripped up my gut. Then he switched me to Opana ER and it too caused horrible gut pain. I read that the new formulation was basically some kind of plastic or polymer to keep it from being misused by people who want to abuse it. Because I could not tolerate these medicines my doctor decided to just let me continue to use hydrocodone 10/325 for several months since it worked fine for me. Now he's telling me I have to go back on either the Oxy Op or Opana ER, or another one (can't remember the name of it but it starts with a N) and use hydrocodone for breakthrough pain.
