Is there a generic which I can purchase over the counter, " pharmacy " everytime I need to get a prescription ? ## TopZole contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, which is a "prescription-only" medication here in the US; used to treat erosive esophagitis and other conditions involving excess stomach acid. A family member of mine takes Prilosec (Omeprazole) - which is regarded as an over the counter alternative for these same types of conditions. I'd imagine though, that it may or may not be quite as efficient compared to its prescription counterpart, but certainly worth a try if you need something for excess stomach acid.
